Summary: A fun read
Review: This was recommended to me in the wake of The DaVinci Code explosion. Keeping it brief: I enjoyed the book until the last 100 pages or so. The back and forth between 1780s France and 1970s New York works most of the time. I actually enjoyed the historical characters more than the more contemporary ones. Toward the end it just gets all too ridiculous and then comes to a fairly predictable, "how else could all this be worked out anyway" kind of ending. Not that I have a better one in mind but there is so much build up and mystery and supernaturalism threading through that the end is rather mundane by comparison. The trippy romping thing just seems to have gotten a bit out of hand for the author to corral back in. Overall, I'd still recommend it but not as glowingly as most.
