Rating: Summary: Excellent book, some bizarre things but great job!! Review: A.C. Crispin has the talent to make Han's pre-ANH adventures very realsitic, with a huge Star Wars universe to visit in her trilogy. Han develops his inner self as the reading goes on, and now i've seen the movies again with new eyes, knowing exaclty his relation to Jabba, Lando or Boba Fett. The trilogy however has some low moments, like Han wearing tigh pants and helping a magician onstage or the infamous Ptchoo, Ptchoo coming out of his Blastech gun...anyway, anyone's entitled one mistake on the Star Wars Univers, just take a look at the Ewoks...
Rating: Summary: Action-packed, exciting, lots of hutts Review: The Hutt Gambit is a very interesting and exciting book. It's full of piloting freights and even includes a war between smugglers and Imperials. You really learn a lot about the extermely rich hutt lords Aruk and Jiliac and their clan. You also learn about some Hutt anatomy which is quite interesing.A.c. Crispin also tell about Durga and his cursed birth mark the Ylesian operation, and especially Jabba. However little is known about his parent Zorba. A really exciting scene in this book is the battle of Nar Shadd where Empere Palpatine ordes the Grand Moff of the Outer Rim the decrease the amount of smuggler action and make a lesson of th Smuggl, ers Moon By wiping most of it and it's sentients.Hab and his magacian ex-girlfriend Xaverii Pull a graet illusin that helps the smuggler of Nar Shadda to win it's really exciting and has cameo apperenco bt the Lord Vader after the Admiral fails to lose... or win... This book really explains the adventures Han has working for Jabba the hutt. Also tell about how he met Chewbacca, got kicked out of the Imperial academy, and his sdventures of being hunted by bounty hunters especially the notorious Boba Fett. This book has few flaws and is a must read for those of you like Han.
Rating: Summary: Crispin fails to reveal true Han Solo Review: There are so many possibilities to create a truly interesting history of one of the most popular characters in science fiction history, Han Solo. Unfortunately, the author is shackled by what is expected of her as a science fiction author, that she doesn't allow herself to tell us who Han Solo is. Instead, we get Han and Chewbacca thrown into a contrived plot we've seen a thousand times before, with ham- fisted dialogue. Crispin also feels the need to have coincidental encounters with characters within the Star Wars trilogy. Obviously, Lando and Chewbacca are necessary, but can we learn about what drives Han and Chewbacca's partnership before we put han face to face with Boba Fett? The only interesting aspect of the book was Han's time spent in the Academy, which contained a painfully small amount of information.
Rating: Summary: Fun with the Hutts! Review: The Hutt Gambit continues the saga of Han's early life, focusing on his adventures smuggling for the Hutts. It is interesting to get some insight into what the Hutt race is like, and the power structure that reigns in their culture. We get to meet some of his smuggler buddies that reappear in other SW books, including some rare ones from the (worthless) Dark Empire comic books. Crispin impresses me with how she is able to capture Han's character so well. Not much to complain about, except that it was not as exciting as The Paradise Snare.
Rating: Summary: Lame Review: I made it through the first book, and Muuurgh was the best part. I had hoped this one would be better now that we had got rid of Bria. Well, we aren't rid of her quite so easily, but she's significantly less annoying when she's not with Han. But, he has a succession of new girlfriends! Great. He's also more or less just as immature as he was in the last book. I found the attempt at drama during the Battle of Nar Shaddaa to be annoying. C'mon, he died, so just say so! Chewbacca needs a bigger part. This is not the way I remember Han getting the Falcon. I'm not sure where I picked this up--it may have been the 2nd edition of the SW Encyclopedia, and if not it was probably another book--but I thought Lando staked Han's pick of his ships and, although Lando was expecting him to go for a luxury yacht or something, Han picked the Falcon, which Lando had been secretly fixing up for himself. Here Han knows all about the Falcon. Also, I caught the mention of a young Lieutenant--I think it was that guy who was Han's friend in the Academy. A young Lieutenant?? Wasn't Pellaeon thinking, years and years later, when the Empire is falling apart, that back in the good old days, i.e. now, they didn't have young lieutenants?? This guy must be an exception?
Rating: Summary: THE Han Solo Book Review: This is a great book it was so good it only took me two days to read it. I just wished she would have talked more about Han's life in the Navy. The Battle of Nar Shaddaa was excellent. This book is definately up to George Lucas's standards A MUST READ

Rating: Summary: very good book!loved it! Review: a.c.crispin is a great writer.i've read the whole trilogy, but this is my favorite book of all.so realistic!and in the book "tales from the mos eisley cantina"the story about muftak and kabe is my favorite
Rating: Summary: When's the next one? Review: At first, I was a little leery that the continuity of Han's past would suffer, but the tie-ins to B.Daly's books are wonderful! Han and Chewie have always been my favorites, and to see them out of the "Jedi" shadow that has developed in the SW universe was great!
Rating: Summary: it was a preview of early han solo Review: Hutt Gambitt adds more background to Han Solo then I never knew about. No wonder Boba Fett had a score to settle with Solo! It seems that much of the background of the characters and the situations like Lando and that big sabacc game all come into place here. It was fun to read even though I know how most of teh situations turn out. the one thing that I noticed in every star Wars novel is that they dwell on always repeating what we already know!
