Rating: Summary: An interesting read based on a great game Review: I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil series for the Playstation (and I believe PC now as well). In some respects, I was a little disappointed by Caliban Cove. I was expecting more of what has made the game so popular... It's the same idea that has made the George Romero universe and the Dark Horse Comic's Zombie World universe so interesting. ZOMBIES. Unfortunately, during the first 100 pages, you'd be hard pressed to find zombies.Having never read an S.D. Perry novel before, I'm willing to give the other three Resident Evil novels a shot, and I hope the whole aspect that made the game so enjoyable is pushed harder in the other books.
Rating: Summary: Resident Evil:Caliban Cove, book review Review: Death, destruction, mayhem are many of teh events that occur in my book,"Reident Evil:Caliban Cove." I thoroughly enjoyed reading S.D. Perry's novel, its 242 pages were very suspenseful, and action filled."Resident Evil:Caliban Cove" takes place in Maryland on a shore-sided chemical facility that has been involved in many chemical related accidents and the S.T.A.R.S. (special tactics and rescue team) is sent in to investigate these accidents.Rebecca,Steve,David,Karen,Barry make up the S.T.A.R.S. team and Dr.Griffith, trisquads, are the chemical facilities main characters. The S.T.A.R.S. discover that Umbrella (teh chemical company) is using a virus, of some genetic means,to make bio-weapons of destruction. While investigating the S.T.A.R.S. encounter many of Umbrella's bio-weapons and they discover that the T-virus is what is producing these grotesque monsters. The T-virus however infects on of the S.T.A.R.S. members and the uninfected members of S.T.A.R.S. try to find a cure for the T-virus,while trying to stay alive and they uncover a hideous plot within the Umbrella company's employee, Dr.Griffith.1 "golden line" in "Resident Evil:Caliban Cove" is when Barry says,"These monsters are the creation of a mad man that is just is just as hyness as his bio-weapons."The cover of "Resident Evil:Caliban Cove" portrays Rebecca of the S.T.A.R.S. running while shooting at one of the the bio-weapons created by the T-virus.The title means that evil is a resident in Caliban Cove.I would reccomend this book to anyone who has played the video game in which this novel is based upon, anyone who enjoys the game will enjoy this book. If you are new person to the Resident Evil series you might find this novel hard to get, but it has a great plot and it is just what a person looking for a suspenseful horror novel, you will find that "Resident Evil:Caliban Cove" will satisfy any horror novel fan or Resident Evil fan.
Rating: Summary: Another Amazing Job From S.D. Perry Review: I'm not about to tell you this book's story, because you can search inside this book and find its story there. I'm here to tell you about how great this book is. It doesn't matter if you've played one of the games or not. If you like horror/thriller kind of literature, you can't miss this book. If you've played the games, then you get a bonus point to like this one, because it really feels like you're in the game. And since this book includes a story which is not featured in any of the games, it feels like you're playing something like Resident Evil 1.5. I've read the first book, and what makes this one more game-alike is the fact that she describes the places with more details, she has gained some skills since "The Umbrella Conspiracy", and, mainly, the fact that there are many puzzles the characters have to solve to continue the story, so you think about this puzzles yourself, along with the characters... just like in the game, and that's the magic of it. But, as I said, if you're not into videogames, you'll love this one too, because it has an amazing story. But if you haven't played the games, it's a must that you read the first book (The Umbrella Conspiracy), before this one. If you have beaten the first game, even that way, it would be very nice if you read the first book before Caliban Cove. But if you've played the games and hated them, I think this book won't change your opinion that much (if you hated the movie, it doesn't matter, because it doesn't have much to do with the books). It's not useful for me to say all these great things about the book if you don't buy it and read it. So do just like me, and, after reading the first two, you'll run to the next library and buy the third one, the novel about Resident Evil 2: City Of The Dead.
Rating: Summary: Good original story with the feel of the game. Review: I was a little disapointed with S.D. Perry's first Resident Evil book, "The Umbrella Conspiracy", so I was somewhat apprehensive about her follow up. However, "Caliban Cove" is a much stronger story, however much it deviates from the game series. In "Caliban Cove", Perry has focused on one of the background cast from the first game, the rookie field medic Rebecca Chambers, and has fleshed her out very nicly. In keeping with the series that these books are based on, "Caliban Cove" has more of the same from the first book- Mad scientists, evil corporate cover ups, zombies and other monsters. While the pace of the plot seems overly calm, the envoirnments seem vivad and convincing. This story sounds like the kind of place a video gamer would like to spend some time. Overall, Perry seems to have learnt much since her first Resident Evil book, and I'm looking forward to her next venture into the world of survival horror!
Rating: Summary: Another Great Entry For A Great Series! Review: This book has everything the first book had. It has all the bloody gory details and a really good story that jumps back and forth makeing you lingering for more to see what happened. Personally I thought the first book was better because of the settings and what was going on but nothingless this is still a awesome book. The book is about as long as the first one so again it's only going to take you a couple of days to read it. After you read this one make sure to pick up the next one. For all you RE junkies out there that hate reading pick this book up just like I did. You won't put it down untill your done.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Read Review: I started reading this book first thing in the morningafter finishing the first book the night before. I read caliban cove in a day, it had me glued in very well. The characters and story are great. I love how the zombies are different, and how everything is just from a different angle pretty much. Definitely read if you like Resident Evil.
Rating: Summary: Wow.... Review: By. S.D. Perry Reviewed BY: J. KIM Period:Period 1 In this book, the basic things that go on is a chemical leak called with a chemical called the T-Virus, a virus that changes living organisms into living nightmares, like zombies. It all starts out with scattered S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad)finding out that Umbrella, the biological weapons organization is building yet another chemical lab to test out their new virus, the G-Virus. As the story goes on, it starts with a rough landing on Caliban Cove, where a turn of events hold horror and the terrible secret that Umbrella has been hiding from the civilians of Racoon City (along with the S.T.A.R.S... But towards the end, two of the members of the S.T.A.R.S end up contracting with the virus and being lost to the human race forever. And finally, the terrible secret is revealed, only causing the S.T.A.R.S to be framed as chemical weapons smugglers for the past chemical leaks that Umbrella has done not quite on accident by their own leaders and trainers; because in Racoon City, there is no one to trust... In my own opinion, I think that this book was really interesting and a classic thriller. Basically, this book is perfect and there is no reason for me not to like this book because this book is technically perfect .I'd also recommend a reader who is hungry for action to not only read Caliban Cove, but other titles in the series of Resident Evil! Many people would challenge my opinion and ask me why there would be no reason to hate this book. But to prove that I may be right, I'll include two quotes from Caliban Cove: 1. The head had caved in like a rotting pumpkin, teeth shattered, gummy flecks of tissue radiating out from behind the skull.(This proves how much of a thrill this book is) 2.It seemed that Umbrella had found a new application with the T-Virus; and like it or not, were going to have to deal with the consequences. (This proves how much suspense this book holds in store for any readers) My favorite part in this book was when the S.T.A.R.S team landed on Caliban Cove and the surprise that they got. It was pretty funny how the S.T.A.R.S. reacted when they saw the mutilated body as described on quote #1 on the doorway! My least favorite part was when Karen, a member of the S.T.A.R.S. gets infected with the virus and later on dies. I mean, that part really stank! So in conclusion, I'd say that this book is a hit and can really be a great book if you are interested in horror, thrill, action, and suspense!
Rating: Summary: The first original Resident Evil novel Review: Caliban Cove is the second installment in the Resident Evil novelization series and the first original work of the series written by S.D. Perry. After the events of Umbrella Conspiracy, Caliban Cove serves as an interlude between the events of Umbrella Conspiracy and City of the Dead, with Rebecca Chambers (one of the survivors of Umbrella Conspiracy) teaming up with fellow S.T.A.R.S. operatives and infiltrating a lighthouse base where more grotesque Umbrella experiments are being conducted. Naturally, everything goes wrong, people die, and blood runs like water. Caliban Cove has it's share of unexpected twists and turns, but it just isn't as compelling as the previous and proceeding novels. Although this isn't the worst in Perry's series of novelizations (that would belong to Underworld), don't walk into this one with too high expectations.
