Summary: one of the top 10 books I've ever read, but I am Welsh!
Review: I read this book about 20 years ago . I also read the others in the series. I could not put it down. Myrddin came to life for me for the first time. It was one of the books that turned me into an avid reader. Being Welsh probably helped! Da iawn Mary Stewart a diolch yn fawr.

Summary: One of my all-time favorite books.
Review: I first read this book when I was about 13. The sequals had not yet been published. About ten years later I ran across the book again as well as its sequals. Now I've read them all at least four or five times. I love to re-read my favorite passages and meet these friends over and over again.

Summary: not too bad
Review: We had to read these 4 Merlin books for school. While I was reading the books, I hated them. they really drag on and some parts have nothing to do with the rest of the book. When I finished the series though, I finally realized what a great story it was. I just wish Mary Stewart didnt have to make it drag on so much. All four books could easily have been combined into one.

Summary: Love the way she made Merlin come to life in a realistic way
Review: Mary Stewart did an excellent job at making Merlin look more human than making him out to be an imaginary person. I have read all 4 books in this series and thought they were fabulous. I have even kept them in my personal library to be able to read again and again, and also to let my children enjoy later on when they are ready to read them. I don't normally hold on to books to read again but this series is done so well and so realistic that I just had to. I love Fantasy type novels and when I picked this first book up to read it I came to throughly enjoy it...I couldn't put it down. The same applied to the rest of this series also. I would love to see this series made into a MOVIE...I think it would be better for the children to get to know who Merlin was and not think of him as just a made up person.

Summary: A very special book
Review: I read The Crystal Cave first around 15 years ago. I read the next 2 books in the series but was disappointed as none were upto the standard of this one. Mary Stewart is a superb storyteller. You will find yourself getting immersed in Merlin's world. The magic draws you in slowly and in such a way that the fantastic things all seems normal, and the events appear completely logical and right.

At the same time the book never loses the feeling of truth, and black and white, that I associate with the clarity of children.

I heartily recommend this book to those who wish to experience another life for a while - you'll find it enriching and enjoyable.

Summary: An old friend to revisit again.
Review: I just read this book maybe for the fourth time... I was first introduced to this very believable portrait of Merlin (Myrddin) when I was but 12 years of age. It is just as engrossing today as it was almost twenty years ago. If you want to read a story of Merlin based in a good blend of fact and fiction this is a must!

Summary: This was one of the greatest books I've ever read.
Review: My mother has wanted to read this since I was 12. So finally I began reading it one night and couldn't put it down for the next 2 days. I,m now going to finish the series during my summer break from school (which has got to tell you it is a good book). I never thought that Merlin could be a intresting subject for a book until I read this.

Summary: Good, but can't remember well
Review: I read this book more than 15 years ago. The only thing I remember is that I liked. I want to read it again, but that time I borrowed the book.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Plain, Boring, Dull, confusing, and just plain bad!
Review: This has to be one of the wosrt books I have ever read. With 50+ characters, whose names either rhyme, or are extremely similar (Dinias, Dinas) this book gets so confusing. With Merlin's visions suddenly appearing, you don't know if Merlin is dreaming it, or if it's really happening. Mary Stewart's biggest failure. This book is plain and boring! No excitement, no pizaz!!!!!

Leave it on the shelf!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It's stupid. it makes no sense. I will never read again!!!
Review: It's stupid. It was a very boring and mellow book. I hated reading it in school! :( And since I read this, I will never read a book again! The book scared me for life, and so I won't read another book ever in my life again! Love always, your worst fan
