Summary: It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be
Review: At times, this book was intriguing and interesting. And I must give the author credit -- considering this was written in the 70's, long before the life after death phase. However, the book drug on and on and by the end, it had gotten a bit silly. Some people may enjoy the love story aspect of it. I found the "soulmate" love story idea to be a bit sappy and over done. I also found myself skipping through large sections of this man telling this woman how much he loved her and remembering long boring moments together. The first half is definately the best and the ending leaves you with a feeling of incompleteness. A good read -- worth it if you have nothing else to read and definately worth it for the bio list in the back. However, don't plan to keep this one on your shelf to re-read time and again.

Summary: A Wonderful Novel
Review: Perhaps the best fiction I've read in years--I couldn't put it down!! I came away with an new look on life (and death).

To anyone who hasn't yet seen the movie, I say this: SEE IT but only after reading the novel first.

Summary: The most enchanting and spirited book I have ever read
Review: "What Dreams May Come" is by far the most inchanting book I have ever read. You will not put the book dowm. Richard C. Matheson will keep you on you on the edge of you seat for this ride! You will never know what is next. I have never read a book that has made me feel so safe about a subject that is so distrbing. Matheson is by far the best author I have ever read. "What Dreams May Come" has been passed through my family and friends. They all agree it is the best book ever written.

Summary: Inspiring and Wonderful!
Review: I don't really like to read books because I think its time consuming. However, this is the book that really caught my attention and my heart to read on. It is very inspiring and worth the effort to read.

Summary: Inspiring
Review: Within the first chapter, Matheson takes hold of your heart, and does not let go until the final word of the last chapter. Even then he takes your breath away. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever lost someone close to them.

Summary: For entertainment only!
Review: I saw the movie starring Robin Williams and decided that I simply had to read the book. I come from a christian back ground (protestant), and I had a lot of problems with the book. All of these problems could have been avoided, if the author had not made out that his book was not a work of fiction--he actually enticed the reader to believe that it was basically a true story. As a result, theologically, the book was extremely unsound--where the individual makes its own rules, and life just keeps going and going.

As far as a LOVE story--this story is amazing. Simply amazing. Pick up the book with this viewpoint and you will be amazed.

From a skeptic's point of view, the work cannot be truth, from a romantic's view, it can be the tale of time. What a contradiction! That is why I gave it 3 out of 5 stars-- 5 out of 5 for the sheer writing of it--the sheer story. 3 out of 5 for the idea that it might be 'reality.' Enjoy!

Summary: I read this book in the early 80's, and it gave me ...
Review: much peace of mind.

I saw this weekend that a movie was made, and is rather dissapointed to learn that the movie might not be as good.

Everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion, but the book was so REAL, I had to read it in one session. After that, I re-read it many times, until a friend did not return the book. But now, thanks to Amazon...

The experiences described in the book are so positive - therefor I am not surprised that this book is described as 'dangerous' from a religious point of view.

However, that is not always the case - does anybody remember Jacob's Ladder?

Thank you for a wonderful book.

Summary: If I could give it 10 stars I would
Review: I would like to say it was the cover of the re-release of this book that drew me to it, but the beautiful story inside is what kept me riveted for a whole day. I stayed up until 4 am to finish this book, I couldnt put it down. A good friends daughter passed away last year (she was only 7) and every since then I have been desperate to read anything I can that will offer me and my friend comfort in knowing that she is ok, that she will be waiting for us when its our time. I have also had a friend that had a near death expereience, and combined with all of this, I am not and never will be afraid of death. I dont want to die, for my life here is still far from finished, but when it is my time I will not fear what awaits me. I am not a particularily religious person, I believe in God and Jesus, but yet I dont think that a loving father would condemn even the most hardened soul to an eternity of hell. Such a person will deal with what awaits them , but yet, even for them they are given another chance. I will not debate the moral or religious applications of this story, for that is each persons right to do after reading this. But for a truly wonderful heart lifting story, please, read this and pass it on to as many as you can. The love story in itself is truly amazing, and will cause even the iciest of hearts to melt, especially when he gets to the part where he thanks his wife for all shes done. NOTHING has touched my heart so deeply..... This book is a treasure!!!
