Summary: Great story!!!!
Review: I've read many of David Weber's books, and this one rates as one of my favorites in my collection.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: five stars for sheer writerly gall
Review: it takes a brave and extremely good writer to actually produce a book with a plot that involves a bronze age mythical demon, a cyber-enhanced female warrior, an AI-controlled combat vessel, over-the-top escapes, two distinct alien races, and believable politics (well, you accepted the fury, you're not going to object to the politics, are you?). now, include humor and some really good writing, and you have any reader's idea of a fabulous book.

as other readers, i love the honor harrington series and was a bit reluctant to try this in case it was too much like HH or not to the same standard. however, since mr weber is taking so unconscionably long to produce the next HH, i bought this book. i am glad i did.

the characters are absobing, multi-dimensional, real in their responses to situations. not all the villains are dyed-in-the-wool nutters, but the heroes are definitely heroic. mr weber obviously knows his military history, but he's pretty darn good at political history, too. and his grasp of psychology puts to shame a lot of other writers praised for perception. and the humor ranges from chuckles to guffaws. and, on a minor note, i really enjoy the names he creates for his characters. the combinations subtly suggest the effects of centuries of social changes.

Summary: mostly ok
Review: It was fun reading as a military sci-fi and well written. The only part I had a hard time with was when self aware A.I.'s and evil spirits come into the action against which no mere human has a chance. This I found hard to swallow, but it doesn't ruin the story.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Emotionally Riveting AND Classic SF
Review: Killer book. I just finished it and have to say I have not been this wrapped up in a novel in years. I cried, I cheered, I was able to visualize this novel in a way that I haven't since I was a kid wrapped up in Tolkien.

Flawless, no. But such a great read, I can forgive some of the minor misses in plot and supporting characters.

I haven't read Weber before, but will be buying other works soon.

Summary: Weber's Best!
Review: OK, so I am an addict. I've read everything David Weber has written. Hands down, this is his best. The only books I have ever re-read have been Patrick O'Brian's and Weber's. I have probably read The Path of Fury 4 times. It's just that good.

Mystery, space opera, emotion, complex worlds, mythology, awesome character development -- it's all here in an incredible balance.

I have always wondered why Weber has not revisited this character and premise. I can only guess that it might be a little daunting to write a sequel to something this good.

Summary: Outstanding, a great blending of scifi and Greek Mythology!
Review: Once again David Weber does what few writers manage to do, write a great Science Fiction story. The blending of a story of the far future and the "Furies" of greek mythology is one of the best that I have ever read. Weber has researched his subject thru even to the "true" names of the Furies. I have been a student of Greek Mythology for years and a Science Fiction reader for a lot longer, and this is the first time I have seen them combined so well.

Summary: Excellent military science fiction
Review: One of the best military science fiction books, by an author who writes very good mil-sci-fi. The book is also an original twist on the greek legend of the furies. It's not all coherent light and hyper velocity weapons, it's also a good story and look at what obsession with revenge can do to a person

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Kick ass military space opera
Review: One of the best space opera book I have ever read. A cybernetically enhanced commando goes "rogue" to avenge the murder of her family. I personally have read the book more than three times! Recommended book to start for someone first time reading Weber.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not a bad read
Review: Path of Fury goes through a grab bag off military sci-fi terminology. If you don't wasn't to read about Fasset drives, SLAM Drones, various types of intergalactic warships and why one is superior to another, then this isn't a book for you. Besides the Fury, a mythological being that interfaces with an AI and the main character, there aren't a lot of new twists in the novel. There are a lot of elements similar to David Weber' s other space opera books such as technologically augmented people, military-political intrigue in a space empire, and frustration with dishonest or incompetent military leaders. Overall, an enjoyable read in the military sci-fi genre that has created so many David Weber fans.

Summary: Surprisingly Good
Review: PATH OF THE FURY is the first David Weber book I've read. With over 35 years of scifi behind me, I still enjoy a rousing "spaceopera" This one was highly rated by readers and amazon kept recommending it, so I decided to give it a try. By the time it arrived, though, I was having second thoughts. The hype-laden cover, complete with flaming letters, didn't help, but after letting it languish on my shelf for a couple of years, I figured it was time to get on with with it. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be pretty good.

Don't get me wrong. PATH OF THE FURY doesn't quite rank among my all-time scifi favorites. Nor can I find it within myself to give this kind of book a five star rating. Nevertheless, it has an engaging story line and the main characters have more depth than you usually get in books in this genre. And, as you would expect, there's lots of action. It's definitely not dull.

I thought the idea of bringing an ancient Greek demi-goddess into the story was a bit over the top. I took this to be scifi, not fantasy. I can accept a lot as far as future technology, alien lifeforms and new worlds go. After all, nobody knows what the future (or the universe), holds. But mythological entities from the past don't fall within that realm as far as I'm concerned. Still, it works tolerably well within the context of this tale, so this is a minor issue.

I liked this book. It was well-plotted, there was lots of action, and the main character, though something of a super-woman (not to mention the assistance of the demi-goddess), was conflicted and sympathetic. If you like good "spaceopera", PATH OF THE FURY fills the bill.
