Summary: AHA! At last we see what the Bad guys life is like......
Review: one of the funniest books I've ever read.... I love the courtroom scene... and the idea of a 3ft ork firing a grenade launcher had me in tears..... if you like Prachett or your fed up with the ood guys winning all the time.... read this!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THE GREATEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!
Review: This is the most awesome book on the planet. It takes all other fantasy and sci-fi books, and gives them a boot to the balls. If you read one book, read this one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the Funniest books I've read, and I read a LOT
Review: They're orcs. They outnumber the enemy thousands to one, have superior leadership and tactics, and are absolutely certain they're gonna loose; because they're up against "The Good Guys."

These Orcs know all the cliches we do.

All that changes when the Orcs finaly get their hands on some real firepower, and the dogs get their day. This book is funny, it takes every cliche and universal assumption of the fantasy genere and kicks it in the shins. Good taste is never a consideration, this one is NOT for kids.

Harsh, Rowdy, But always funny.

Similar in many ways to Terry Prachets' Disk World series. One way way to compare them is (Disk World = The Simpsons, Grunts = South Park.)

Summary: Well...
Review: Let me just say that I am a sophomore student whose reading average is higher than a lot of people who attend my school. But let me tell you this... I could not understand one *damn* thing that was going on the entire time I was reading this... its like the characters magiclly shift from one posistion to another, events happen very quickly (about 3 pages max), and I wouldn't exackly call it a "Fantasy With Attitude"... more like a "Fantasy With Crap". My first fantasy novel, and a bad one at that. I just hope I don't shift the book at different angles to read it when I pick up a "Dragonlance" book.

Summary: Fantasy from the "Bad Guys" point of view.
Review: Take your average Orc, Big dumb killing eating machine. Now give him an attitude and make him a Marine, disciplined determined and armed with todays weapons. Scary, yes. Funny, Oh Yes. Now, Who wants to play Orcball?

Summary: bares sf/fantasy cliches, then slices, dices and explodes 'em
Review: Orcs as sympathetic protagonists and "good" isn't very, aptly conveys the message. A well written and amazingly well edited book, you won't be harassed by either typos or good taste here. The orcs are violent and nasty- but then, so is everyone else. It borders on watching someone else's video arcade shoot-em-up. The action never stops, the good taste never begins. Just lots of bad, dirty, fun! Emphasis is on fun. An excellent read.

Summary: "Grunts" is a terrific read... I couldn't put it down!
Review: A high degree of detail & description. Very funny and at the same time brutally invigorating! A great cast of characters with plenty of storyline to go around. Mary Gentle's "Grunts" is like combining L. Ron Hubbard & David Drake together for an adventure you won't forget!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best books I have ever read.
Review: It was better than Harry Potter. Although it was crude and kind of gross, it was still really good. There was only one part that I didn't like: when the author introduced a new species because I don't think it had much to do with the book. It was strange. I also didn't like when they made peace with the light side because the battles and wars were very good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very funny and different look at a Good vs. Evil story.
Review: This book is different in that it is written from the dark sides perspective instead of good. The story is very entertaining and always takes unexpected turns. Mary Gentle is very "down to earth" with her writing in that she doesn't hold back describing in gory detail what is happening. Many authors nowadays seem to be aiming for a broader audience (teens and adults) and therefore are less descriptive so as to not offend. Very good book.

Summary: Can we say "Tolkien on acid?"
Review: Cross a Vietnam War movie with "The Lord of the Rings," and you'd get something approaching the storyline of this novel. Gritty as all-get-out. The bad guys are nasty S.O.Bs; the good guys are worse...and all in all, it's hilarious.
