Summary: Rushed, disappointing end to the saga...
Review: The Rowan/Damia series, has to date been wonderful. But not here! In an ending I describe as "throw the material from two books into one and finish it up" this book looks VERY rushed, pushed and uncomfortable with itself. What a shame to end the series on such a note. People and events are refered to out of context to such an extent that you reread earlier parts of the book to make sure the pages aren't missing.

Summary: Another installment in a tradition of Excellence!
Review: This is one of the best books McCaffrey had written. It is original, and keeps with the same charachters of the past. She keeps creating more and more excellent books, and I am one of her greatest fans. Read this book and be amszed!

Summary: An enjoyable story, but I hope it's not really the end...
Review: I liked the story, but I think it leaves too many unanswered questions. The solution to the Hivers' expansion is finally revealed (at least, it appears so), but there are lots of concepts and ideas left to explore.

I seriously hope there will be another story coming after this one. I did enjoy it, but it lacks finality and closure in places. All in all, a good read, but I was distinctly left wanting more when I came to the end.

Summary: also diappointed
Review: Another case of just another book to fulfill a book contract. I have read all the previous books..and boy this one I just started skipping to finish it..hoping it would get better. It didn't..ugghh! I'll wait for the reviews before I buy anymore of her books.

Summary: A nice book, but no real excitement
Review: I avidly had read the first four books in the Talents series (The Rowen, Damia, Damia's Children, Lyon's Pride), however, I was kind of disappointed in the empty feeling about the end. It gave you no real conclusion, and I felt that there could have been so much more. The only real thing that kept me reading was the hopes that the book would get better. Don't get me wrong, the plot is good, and there are a few twists in the story, but nothing huge. I do recommend this book if you've read the first four, but don't expect too much.

Summary: A dissapointing book with a predictable ending.
Review: I usually enjoy most of Anne McCaffrey's books, but not this one! There were too many characters to get involved in the plot personally. The way to solve both the Dini breeding problem and the Hiver problems just wasn't--original. I hate to spoil this for you, but come one--pheremones that they just happen to stumble upon! She's written better.

Summary: Disappointing - not a page turner
Review: My wife eagerly wanted me to read this concluding novel of the Talents series, yet it left me feeling empty. It had been a few years since I've read the other novels, so the storyline had faded from memory. Unfortunately, the novel did not draw me back into these characters. By bringing everyone back and wrapping things up - everyone felt like minor characters. There was no tension and no buildup, and no reward for me. It felt like having a postscipt extended into a full length novel.

Summary: The tower and the hive
Review: This is the best book I have yet read and I love it Because it has some romance as well as action which the last book (Lyon's pride)didn't. It dosen't wrap up the story like a normal concluding volume but that leves something to the imagination

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: An excellent ending to a wonderful series. I have read this book again and again.

Summary: Superb "theatre of the mind" quality narration.
Review: The descendants of Rowan, a powerful telepath used their manifold talents to persuade Earth and the Mrdini to become allies against the predatory Hivers, an insectoid species that exterminates all other life forms. The Rowan clan are confident of being able to secure and keep the peace -- if they can survive sabotage and assassinations aimed at destroying them and all they stand for. Anne McCaffrey is a confident, talented, seasoned science fiction author whose gripping story is ably presented by the superb narrative skills of Susan Ericksen in this complete and unabridged library edition. 9 hours/6 cassettes.
