Summary: A splendid tapestry of characters...
Review: These books really deserve to be viewed as a series, that and the next three books. It's quite disappointing that those of you in the US have to wait for the books to be released one by one! The characters are complex, and yet believeable, and while BattleAxe seemed cliche at times, Enchanter is dazzling in comparison. There are many plot twists, and moments when your heart stops -- and moments when you thrill for the characters.

Faraday is the only character that didn't quite hit it off with me, compared to Azhure, but she grows throughout the books.

Summary: A Wonderful Example of an Exceptional Sequal
Review: This book continues the thrilling saga of the first book. The characters personalities are expanded and you learn vital information about the plot. READ BOOK 1 FIRST!!!! otherwise you will be completely confused and bewildered by Book 2. I am eagerly awaiting book 3 and urge anyone who enjoys a wonderous and vivid fantasy book to read Enchanter

Summary: Touches the Soul
Review: This book is the second book to Sara's first book: The Wayfarer's Redemption. I highly suggest you read the book before starting with Enchanter. (The beginning few dozen pages is a bit confusing so hang in there!)

All books need a plot, action, romance and a mystery. And beauty. Sara has captured all of these images. Unique plots, unimaginable beauty with her writing, forbidden romance and intense combat. All within these books.

I paid 30 dollars for this book (right when it came out) and I still think it is worth that money. I am waiting for book three, and I can assure you that I will buy it too for a full trio.

Summary: Two stars gone because of Azhure.
Review: This book was an amazing book, and I loved every word of it.

Except for Azhure.

Seriously, though. She ruined the entire book. When I saw her in BattleAxe I loved her so much more than Faraday - that was before Sara tried to shove this mystery theme in her. I mean, GOD, we get it already - she's more than she seems! She's too perfect for me to care about her. Like, with Faraday, she was purely about the Avar, and Axis was a cool mix of Icarii and Acharite. But Azhure? She's too much of everything! She's apparently like some SunSoar goddess, while she's got the hunting skills and link with nature to go with the Avar, and then she's also such a great leader and woman for the Acharite! What isn't this woman? In the first book, she was so flawed, yet so loveable. In the second book, her terrible terrible past isn't mentioned at all! No, she's so happy and so at home, that she's completely moved on from it. It's mentioned until the last three chapters.

And what's worse is how Sara tried to force-feed us her identity. Her hints were so obvious that when they supposedly figured out who she was I wanted to slap them for their stupidity, especially when Axis once inquired about her true parentage. Oh mercy. Maybe if this book had been devoted to Azhure it wouldn't have been so bad. But it was devoted to Azhure's identity! So we get all sorts of blatant clues about who she is and she's become things that never should have happened if Sara hadn't tried to give us more hints. Please, it's so obvious that she only gets half of what she gets because she's with Axis. I don't care what you say, but she doesn't deserve it.

I would have given it four stars even for her. Except that I hated her so much it was like trying to pretend a Miss America contestant didn't have a booger up her nose.

Summary: Wonderful Series From Start to End
Review: This series really has 6 books. I read them all before they were available in the US. Sara Douglass is from Australia, and this is a 6 book series there, broken down to 2 trilogies here. The first three books I loved more than the last three, but all 6 books were incredible. Sara Douglass brings us a world that is refreshingly different than most fantasy books, mostly because it is original. She has a great imagination, and puts on paper easily, so that the world we read about in her books flows out from her pages to surround us. The characters have flaws, and you learn to love them regardless. At one moment, you are wanting one thing to happen, and the next you want the opposite to happen. The book is a fresh edition tot he Fantasy Genre! I recommend this book to those who love sci-fi / fantasy and love a series that span a generation!

Summary: Boring!
Review: What ARE all these reviewers talking about? This book is DULL. It is very cliche and full of all the standard fantasy tropes, with bad writing and childish names, as well as particularly cardboard characters to boot. As a transplanted Aussie, I cannot take any pride in the efforts of this particular countryman. Try Juliet Marillier if you are looking for someone from Oz who can actually WRITE.

Summary: A winner
Review: When puissant Icariian enchanter Axis Sunsoar meets Faraday, wife of his half-brother Borneheld, he falls in love with her. He vows that she will become his wife one day soon. Faraday, a follower of the Mother Goddess, expects her beloved Axis to save her from her current abusive husband.

However, raging jealousy for stealing the affection of his spouse, begrudging his sibling's recent success, and envying his half-brother's new relationship with their father leads Borneheld to seek Axis' death. Adding to the relationship mess is that for no apparent reason, Icariian desires the mysterious Azhure. With traitors inside his inner circle ready to destroy him, Axis must find a means to neutralize Borneheld and stop another half-brother if he is to fulfill the prophecy of ruling his fellow bird like people and the forest dwellers.

The second novel in Sarah Douglass' Wayfarer Redemption series, ENCHANTER, is a deep relationship fantasy that is filled with action and adventure, but succeeds because the various populations that make up this globe seem real. Though the tale starts slow, especially for those who read book one, as Ms. Douglass patiently reintroduces the cast, once the story line gets into motion, it races faster than the speed of light. Subplot threads remain dangling for more sequels but fans will concur to this enchanting novel deserved to win the Australian Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novel.

Summary: Angered and Unsatisfyed...
Review: With the First book in this series, I grew to love Douglass's style of writing and in particular the plot and characters of this novel. Her Characters striking me as unbelievably realistic and sympathetic. However one should be warned if thee pick up the first book in the series they may become TOO attatched to the main character of the first book and feel a betrayl a character in this book betrays her.

This action left me angered and left the book off in my opinion a completely unsatisfactory note. As the story winds on Douglass even begins to loose the rich tone she had in the first novel. The last part of this story feels hurried and desperate. As if Douglass herself was in a hurry to simpley finish.

Though the first in the series was excellent the second was not and completely let me down.
