Summary: It may not follow the game...
Review: This is a great book. Although it doesn't really follow the game exactly, it is a great story. I read it when it first came out, then I packed it up. About a month ago I found it and read it agian and it was just like reading it the first time. It may seem to some that you need to play the game to like the book, but that is totally untrue. I let someone who didn't know the game existed read it and they loved it. This is an all around good book!

Summary: An Awesome Story!
Review: I first bought this book about 4 or 5 years. I saw it and thought it might be worth the money. When I read it for the first time,I was amazed! This book is absolutely worth the money. It lets you feel like you side-by-side with Flynn Taggert(the main character in the story) as he fights his way through the nightmarish demons on Phobos and Demios in search of any survivors and a way out of the nightmare. I would recommend this book to any Sci-Fi/Adventure fan.

Summary: Gore, humor, action, sci-fi, and even some theology
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. It takes elements unknown to each other and blends them in a way that makes them fit.I saw Hell On Earth one day and picked it up before I read this. Two and a half years later I found this after looking for it constantly. This is the best of the four, as I've read it three times. I practically memorized the game levels so this was even funner to see how they added some action to familiar rooms. Taggert's occasional talk about the Catholic faith adds a bit of serious knowledge to the book, making it seem less like a mindless shoot-em-up(I myself am Catholic and alot of what he says makes sense). There are a few gaps between this and the game, such as the levels called "pandemonium, House of pian, Mt. Erebus, Limbo, and Unholy cathedral" are never mentioned, and the cacodemons(refered to as pumpkins) are described as having trunk-like mouths, but this is still Doom and unmistakably Doom. Quotes like"She's such a man I bet she got herself pregnant." add an irresistable laugh to the book. If you enjoy Stephan King this is a must have for you. I can already see the movie soundtrack featuring bands like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and other death metal types. The lyrics match the book's Gore-and-Hell themes exactly.

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: If you're lookin' for some action and fear to scare you outta your pants, this book is great. Following the game storyline excellently, even if you've just played the demo. Great detail and feeling...not for the faint of heart. Prepare for nightmares! Prepare for Doom!

Summary: well, at least there isnt a movie based on it...
Review: ok ive read a lot of books based on games.... and ive played doom backwards and forwards until i know every imp and every cacodemon and every sergeant and grunt. but this takes the cake as being the epitome of[bad stuff]. daffyd has absolutely no writing ability whatsoever. the first person perspective was at times interesting, especially when he is describing the semper fi attitude. however after that its jsut plain silly. an imp throws a fireball after saying "arent we having a ball?" at that point i nearly threw the book away, but decided to see it through...and what a mistake i made. a second character, a stout man-ish female, was added. when her character is found, they are both naked having just been teleported... when he tries to get dressed, she asks him to stop so she can look at him longer... apparently mr hugh's sexual hangups need to be put aside. speaking of put aside, the book had such incredible ups and downs of interest, it was obvious that he would write with inspiration for a chapter and then drudge along for 3 more just to get it done. this is less of a novel and more of an 8th grade report. how old is hugh anyways? 13? on the plus side, the book isnt very long. and there are a few intersting points, like when flynn realizes hes losing his mind when he sees a robot riding a bicycle in the shape of a room... quite original and subtle. outside of these half a dozen moments of inspiration, i must say Daffyd ab Hugh needs to find a new line of work.

Summary: Doom
Review: How could you write a book from an unplug-your-brain-and-shoot game? I bought the book for a joke, but found that it was actually a well-written sci-fi action novel loosely based on the worlds and events in the games. The characters were well written and relatively believable, the story exciting and the style, in first person, engaging. I've got no problem recommending this and look forward to more in the series.

Summary: Knee Deep in the Fiction
Review: Well I bought this book a long, long time ago (lets see- about 4 years!) out of curiosity mostly. I am a huge fan of the computer game and the book was very interesting- well written, not Asimov but not the Sun newspaper either ;) I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in the game, or alternatively anyone looking for light, lesser well-known sci-fi books to read.

Summary: Doom Knee Deep in the Dead
Review: This book was the best. I originally loved the game so i picked up the book just to see how it was. suddenly I made it a fav. The who series was great.but Knee Deep in the Dead was the best. I amung others seemed a little displeased at the ending to End Game. I wish another book was written if you agree e mail me. Flynn "Fly" Taggart was by far the best character. He wasnt too bright at times but he managed to live didnt he.
