Summary: I think the storyline rocks
Review: It didn't matter if Jimmy and Locky were not given huge parts cos' they seemed kinda boring in the book. Gorath and Owyn were reallly interesting new characters and REF has certainly given every race and character within the book an identity of their own. Honestly, the moredhels actually seem more interesting than the eledhel. I am disappointed however, that Tomas appeared in less than three pages.

Summary: hmmm...well... I guess he got bored
Review: okay, normally it would only take me a day to read one of REF's book, the fact that it took me over a week to trudge through this doesn't look too good. Initially, I was delighted to see that Jimmy and Locky were back, but this was short lived. The first half of the book came across as bitty and there is little attempt to fill out a plot (and I use the word lightly) which consists of fight, travel, find a clue, fight, travel...move onto the next level... you could almost see a joystick in front of you. Only when I reached the part where Owyn and Gorath leave Jimmy's company did this resemble anything previously written by REF. Here we finally were given paralell storylines and a bit of suspense. At least REF didn't let Jimmy and Gamina meet, he remembered to save that for later. All in all, I'm sticking with the three stars, although he only gained one for actually writing the book and the second for keeping some of my favourites. The third he only regained when the story split. Otherwise I don't even think that I would have finished the book. I just hope that Ref realises that good books create computer games, not the other way round. Here's hoping that the next one comes from REF first.

Summary: Boring.
Review: If you played the game, do not buy the book. It simply retells the story of the game and does so in a turgid and plodding manner. A great disappointment from a great writer. Sometimes the money must be too good to pass up.

Summary: is it even worth reading?
Review: When I found that REF had added to his rather fantastic collection I was somewhat delighted. I haven't read it yet but after reading everyone elses comments I'm begining to wonder whether it is worth my time and money. Can it really be all that bad? I am a long time fan of his work and don't want to be disappointed with a hollow afterthought that will break down some of the strongest characters that REF has ever created. No doubt I will read it anyway, I just hope that you are all being cynical and REF hasn't sold out after all. As for all the first time readers, of course you think that it's fantastic, but you really should start from the beginning, but a word of warning - avoid like the lurgy if you have exams coming up, REF is extremely addictive and you won't get any study done!!!

Summary: One Star, only due to Feist loyalty
Review: Disappointing. I've been reading Feist ever since he came out with MAGICIAN (the 1986 purple paperback version, before Bantam Spectra chopped it up into MAGICIAN: APPRENTICE and MAGICIAN: MASTER). BETRAYAL has Feist's name on it, but that's about it. It has a dull plot, poor character development and, although we all love him, PUG. This is his first book in over 13 years that I can't recommend.

One Star, only due to Feist loyalty.

Send Ray a message, don't buy it. :(

Summary: As Great As The Rest
Review: I think in this book people either hated it or loved it, personaly I loved the thing just as every other book made by Feist, and I can't wait for the follow up in this series, I also can't wait for the follow up series to the Serpent War Saga, if it comes I hope.

Summary: Both the book and the CD are junk!
Review: Do not be lured by the fact that Feist wrote tis or that there is a CD included! This book was horrible. The worst I have read. The CD was not worth it either. There is nothing on the Cd that could not be found on the net.

Summary: Not good, not good at all.
Review: I was very dissappointed with this book. Feist is a great author and it is a shame that he applied his time (at least two hours) to a piece of junk like this one. The plot was scattered and not enjoyable; good games do not convert into good novels. I especially hated the fact that he turned previously lively and fun and deep charaters like Jimmy and Locklear into shallow stereotypes of their former beings. Read every other book by Feist (especially Faerie Tale and Magician Master) and leave this one alone. It was not good, not good at all.

Summary: It was great!!
Review: I have read all of Mr. Feist's books and I think that tihs one is very worthy of his name. It was well writen and incorporated most of the characters from the original Riftwar series. I especially liked that this book took place before the death of Locklear, who was one of my favorite characters in the first books.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Fair, but lacks flair of old
Review: First of all, I've never played Betrayal or Return never got around to those games. I picked this up cause I'm a Feist fan. Quite frankly I wouldn't call this book trash like some of the more militant fans here, but it's no where as good as the series that started it all. It was very nice to see Pug back in action.....Feist needs a series just on Pug, cause he's too cool a character to waste. But overall, the reading was very fluid and moved very quickly....let see what the rest of the series has to offer, perhaps this is just Feist setting us up for the other books in this new series.
