Summary: Very good!
Review: It's a good book even though I have played the game before. After reading this book, I went to collect the whole RiftWar series.

Summary: The game was better
Review: It's a shame. The book could have been great - if someone had spent a little more time on it.

I'd never even heard of the author until after I'd played the game. I read one of his other books a bit (Silverthorn), to see if it's quality matched up. And it didn't.

Mr. Feist is capable of much better writing.

Next to the (now free and still excellent) game and some of his other books - this just plain awful.

Summary: Feist is so much better than this
Review: I am an avid Feist fan, having read everything he has put out since the Magician series, and I was utterly dissapointed. The book sounds exactly like a computer game in style, and was totally unsatisfying. Feist didn't write this story, two game developers did. Then Feist took the script of the successful game, and decided that an easy way to make some more money would be to write an adaptation of the game story in novel form. This was a big mistake as the story is choppy, the events contrived and the characters lifeless. I got half way through the book, continually hoping it would get better, and finally gave up in disgust. Feist is an incredible writer, this is such a dissapointment. Don't buy this book, get one of his earlier books first, otherwise you may be put off one of the greatest writers of modern fanatsy.

Summary: Good things may not last forever. What a shame.
Review: Before I launch into a verbal assault on a man I hold on a pedestal several levels above JRR Tolkien (I know, I know Tolkien the king! Everyone compares a decent writer to him.) I would just like to say that REF is a fantasy novelist without peers until this one. It should have been released with the game and not as a separate publication. I just hope he finds himself before he publishes anything else because it would be a shame if he finishes his career as a sad wannabe.

Summary: Go read his other works...they are much better
Review: This book is adapted from a computer game...the cover told me this, but actually as i read the book(i just bought it last week), i could tell that the author had "copied" the idea from a game...there was no links between battles so i was left to understand what had happened between the last chapter and the present one...one moment they are on the outskirts of some northern mountains and the next they meet some bandits somewhere south...there's no link at all, could be quite tricky..

My advice for new readers: go read his other works maybe The Demon awakens or the The Demon aspolte.. they are much much better than this so-called computer game adaptation

Summary: Go to get the game. Pass the book up.
Review: I've played the game (which is now free, by the way!) and it was awesome. I've read all the other books Feist has written, and they were awesome. This one doesn't even deserve the one star I was forced to give it. The plot is exactly the same as the plot of Betrayal at Krondor. It even shares some of the exact wording of the game. It makes for a lousy book that seems not written, but thrown together with superglue and phrases from the game. Spare your money and time... Get something else.

Summary: Started slow but accelerated well enough.
Review: The book started just like the game itself which i must say is not very suitable for a novel but as the story continued, the good old feeling of Midkemia came back. Finally, the book ended well enough to take 4 stars from me. Captivating.

Summary: A good bridge book
Review: This book although based on a game (which was excellent)does a prety good job, not as good as some of the others that REF has written, it is far above a lot of other fantasy authors books.

Writting books that go into the past, from other books written earlier is not easy to do as you have to be careful not to over lap what happens in those books.

Summary: BETTER LEFT ALONE
Review: I have been a major fan of Feist for a long time now, though I am extremely disappointed with this book. I waited for 3 months to get it and now after reading only 100 pages I wish that I had ordered something else. If you can STAY AWAY.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: If you liked playing the game ,you'll love the book.
Review: Don't look for lots of plot or character building.Just enjoy the book. The action is fast and frequent.I read some poor reviews before reading for myself.I wasn't dissapointed. You won't be either. My opinion of Mr.Feist has not changed,he's still a hell of a good writer.
