Rating: Summary: Simply Abyss-mal Review: See above:Krondor's seen finer days; the CRPG had more depth
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This book was the best that I have ever read(except the Wheel of Time and the Serpentwar Saga).
Rating: Summary: Horrible Review: Feist is one of my favorite authors but this book was absolutely horrible. Anyone who gives it more then 1 star has problems. I would of given it no stars but thats not possible. I couldn't even get past the first 2 chapters it was so poorly written. If you want to read something good by Feist read the Riftwar Saga.
Rating: Summary: horrible. written by someone else using feist's name? Review: i was very disappointed with the lack of his usual skill. i suspect that what the game developers could afford was his name for the cover. the story was weak, with no character development at all, and several "side adventures" that served no purpose but to enable whoever wrote this to drop names from his other novels. i suppose it should be expected, that the game developers would tie their initial ideas into a "novel" for the extra money, but it becomes almost insulting to read feist's afterword, where he claims to have avoided this exact situation. i didn't see it, and i don't think i could bring myself to pay for another one of his books. (I tried to submit this with no stars, but I had to choose one. Note to Amazon: add an option for no stars).
Rating: Summary: Not up to standards Review: I have to agree with a lot of the below comments. Feist is one of my favorite authors, so when I picked up "betrayal" I was expecting his usual quality. Unfortunately, this book was so bad I couldn't read past the first couple of chapters. The below reviews that give this book 5-stars must be relatives of the author or publisher--trust me, this book has ZERO redeeming qualities.
Rating: Summary: Pretty faithful to the game Review: To this day I still consider "Betrayal at Krondor" the best computer game I have ever played. It has spoiled me for any other game as nothing else I have ever tried has even come close to matching up. So I was quite excited when I heard that REF was going to write a novelization of it. Not excited enough to buy it in hardback. I don't think REF is a good enough writer to justify that, but I was willing to wait for the paperback was excited when I finally found it out in paperback this past Saturday and picked up a copy. My review is somewhat mixed I guess. Because I loved the game I found the book a great read, because it brought back the memories of the game and how much I had enjoyed it. I liked getting a little more details about Gorath who was my favorite character. However as stand-alone literature I didn't thing it was all that exciting, and if I had never played the game would probably not have given it more than 2-3 stars. The 4th star is for bringing back a lot of great memories. It makes me want to find a copy of the game and play it all over again so I can also do all the fun side-quests that got sacrified for the book.
Rating: Summary: The Best after Magician Review: This is one of the best books he has writen, I had not played the rolle-playing game before, but after reading this book I had to play it, and discoverd that Feist has taken a whell made game into a even better book. I have even purchased the hardback version and is exeitingly waiting for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Disapointing when compared to other works. Review: I purchased this book expecting something very good. I have all his previous works. Very much below his normal standard. I think that he must need the cash. The follow up 'Krondor - the Assasins' is just as bad. I will now wait for him to start a new series as a follow up to the Serpent War Series. I will not buy any more of these.
Rating: Summary: A damn good book Review: what i think about this book is that it is well told. it also makes me wanna actually live in the world of Midkemia. Feist did an excellent job writin this, and i hope he does as good or better in Krondor: Assassins
Rating: Summary: A poor novelization of a computer game Review: I have been reading Feist since he first came out, and Magician was reviewed in Different Worlds Magazine (I purchased an autographed copy). Krondor, the Betrayal is without a doubt the WORST thing he has written. I have purchased everyone of his books in hardback, the day they come out, but no longer. I placed the book on the shelf where it is gathering dust. I considered loaning it out, and then refusing to accept it back. I really hope he does better with his next book.
