Summary: Quite standard, almost
Review: This saga is standard fantasy stuff, one little problem though. All of the hero types are incredibly stupid, and continuously so. If you like to think what you would do, at each twist in the plot, then these books will become very frustrating.

I called the main characters heroes, but that's not really true. They are so stupid that every helpful person that they meet suffers horribly because of them, needlessly. After concluding the world would be a better place if all the main characters died, I stopped reading.

Summary: Excellent
Review: To misquote, "The people who gave this book 1 star don't know what they are talking about." True, there are some very dark scenes, involving rape, but those scenes are very much a part of the excellent plot and not merely vulgarity. Definitely worth reading, if you can handle the subject.

Summary: A real waste of money and time
Review: When it started with a rape I thought it would get better. It did....NOT! Rape, rape and rape. That's the basic theme in this book. I skipped most of the book, cause it was dumb and nonsense. This is one of the worst book I ever read. Avoid it!

Summary: Funny Novel (Hehe)
Review: Having read the entire series already, the first novel starts off a bit slowly and confusing. However, the series itself is well written out and very humorous. The charachters in the novel are very realistically portrayed as far as fantasy goes, tho the same cannot be said for many other novels in the fantasy genre. Memorable charachters in the series aside from the main charachters include the lil kid thief, the fat priest who constantly eats, and the two castle guards who have very humorous conversations about womanly affairs. Overall a very good series.

Summary: Insipid, banal, and badly written
Review: This book was so predictable, dull, and uninteresting that I didn't even finish it. Like the juvenile novelization of a B-grade fantasy movie. I just couldn't bring myself to care what silly thing happened to those dull - not dull, downright *stupid* characters. Give me Robin McKinley or Tad Williams any day.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not for your average Tolkien, Jordan, or McCaffrey readers
Review: This book is more for the reader who likes light, humorous fantasy, not the sort that likes the million-page novels about classic heroes. The descriptions add depth and detail to the book, and all the chartacters have real personalities. They are more like real people; they get scared and run, as opposed to the pompous idiots who would park on their white stallion to die.

Summary: I think Monty Python made more sense...
Review: This book is one to avoid...seriously. Keep away from it. Those people that gave it 5 stars DON'T know what they're talking about. If you've seen any of the Monty Python movies, you'll see that they make more sense than this book. And Monty Python isn't supposed to make sense. First of all, the book is endless. I could write a story along those plot lines in, like, four pages. Actually, four words: Rape, Murder, Stupidity, Nonsense. That's all you need to know. Keep away, that's all.

The knight, Tawl, was okay...but he could have been better. And we don't need to know what goes on in a bedroom in this book. It's completely irrelevant. This book is probably good for 21 and older who like to read about rape, murder, and sex all in one page. And if you also like very bad grammical writing. IN SHORT: Worst book I've ever read.

Summary: Yuck!
Review: Don't get me wrong , I'm not a prude or anything , I've read the Geogre Matin books which heaps of people have said was vulgar and violent and found noting wrong with them , but this book! Ehh! i have read about half the book and couldn't finish it. There can and in this book there is way too much detail. If you can avoid it , don't go there! It's not worth the loss of your lunch.

Summary: One star is being too generous.
Review: Okay. I thought it would get better after the initial murder and rape and altogether uninteresting plotline. But no. This book is like the energizer bunny--it just keeps going and GOING and GOING!! I only liked one character in it, namely the young knight Tawl, and guess what he ends up doing?? Murdering a helpless old man! Belive me, this is ONE TO AVOID!!!!!!

Summary: A great start for an excellent new author
Review: After an amazing prologue The Bakers Boy proved to be a most enjoyable read. I found the characters to be likeable, realistic and not run-of-the-mill , especially Baralis. Definately a man you will love to hate! The book has plenty of suspense and loads of humour in Bodger and Grift, whose words of wisdom once heard should never be followed! All in all a good start, Julie Jones writes extremely well and certainly has great flair and style. My only criticism is that Jack and Melli seemed to spend all their time escaping and then getting caught again, however the settings are excellent and the plot is otherwise very engaging. And believe me the series just gets better and better.
