Rating: Summary: This series belongs on the screen! Review: The Reality Dysfunction is an excellent series! I have read all four of the novels and found them engrossing and believable. The technology description is awesome! This series belongs on the screen. Also, it is the first series that I have read where black people exist in the future and have full character development. Mr. Hamilton, consult George Lucas, today!P.S. Hook up Joshua and Syrinx!
Rating: Summary: a universe of it's own ,with many various concepts Review: fast paced with many interesting characters that sets your mind reeling at the possibilities of this series i highly recomend that you read this
Rating: Summary: interesting vision of the future, supernatural adds-on Review: Generally, a very interesting vision of the future,i.e. biteks, genering, classic space opera with some spices thrown in. BUT too many characters, too many plot lines to follow. AND why, why the author had to base the whole story on the supernatural events? Must he look for the answer to "Life, the Universe and Everything" in the book and so seriously at that?
Rating: Summary: The best Sci-Fi series I have read. Better than Hyperion! Review: I usually prefer a single character plot, but Neutronium Alchemist: Conflict, like the rest of the series is simply too good not to read! If you are the type that confuses easily, this isn't the book for you. What may seem like a diversion from the plot is just a hint of something to come much later, so listen up! The techno-stuff is excellent and the characters are full. The books also MOVE! I found myself trying to read faster to keep up with the action! I only have 2 regrets about this series. 1. The next one isn't written yet. 2. I hear there will be only one more. Hamilton takes Sci-Fi adventure to a new, fuller level with this series. I have been reading Sci-Fi since elementary school, and I consider this the best series I have read.
Rating: Summary: Phew what a Corker Review: The most gripping set of books I've read in a long while. A backdrop as finely detailed as Ian M Bank's "Culture" with the sheer swashbuckling scale of EE 'Doc' Smiths classic Lensman series. I'm just itching for the next installment!
Rating: Summary: Tired of long continuations Review: I bought the first 2 books in this series and loved it. There was just enough characters to follow along at a reasonable pace. Then I found out I had to buy the next 2 books. That's when it went downhill. The problems with the last 2 books: 1) there are TOO many characters and plotlines. there are what, 8 pages of characters at the beginning of the book?? and that doesn't even count other characters that aren't included. There were points in the book where it wouldn't get back to a plot line for over 50 pages. that is too many plots going on. I have to waste the amount of money I did just to find out I have to shell out MORE to finally reach the conclusion, hopefully in 1 more book but seeing the trend looks like 2 more. I'm sorry but this series, while starting out great in the 1st 2 books (or 1 if combined) it went downhill with the leftfield tangents. If you want to make it long running series, make it as good as the Rama books by Gentry Lee.
Rating: Summary: An Absolute Cracker Review: Although I get funny looks from everyone while carrying a huge book like this (UK edition is 1200) pages, it's worth it. I've yet to read a sci-fi book that has grabbed and held me quite as much as this series. The full descriptions of the technology and worlds draw you in and the action keeps you there. I just can't put it down. Roll on the release of the third part of the trilogy...
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Outstanding Review: Every once in a while you run across a writer with an original idea. Even more rare is the original idea is expressed by an excellent writer. Peter Hamiliton is that author and the Reality Disfunction and Neutronium Alchemist series are those ideas. This is one of the best sci-fi book(s), let alone series I have ever read and I am a read-a-holic. This may be sacrilege, but I put him up there with Amisov and Clarke.. READ THESE BOOKS !!!! It is a must.
Rating: Summary: Vivid, spectalular and completely engrossing Review: Peter H Hamilton is fast approaching the heights of Iain M Banks when it comes to truley engrossing, orginal and spectacular pseudo politcial sci-fi space opera - his earlier novels deal with near future, post global warming/flooding Great Britain and all eventually lead up the development of the deep space race - and lead us all neatly to this tour de force. The reality disfunction (even though weighty at 1,000+ pages) is almost best read in one sitting - a novel that you never want to end. Simply stunning, highly original, action packed from start to finish british science fiction - can't wait for the last in teh series.
Rating: Summary: Some of the most enjoyable science fiction I've read Review: There's no need to rehash what others have reiterated. This series has captivated me and continues to do so. If you like discovery, breath taking action, interesting characters, cool technology, cooler weapons, bizarre aliens, suspense, narrow escapes, evil, complex characters..... this series has it all. Most of all imagination. Don't take it too seriously. It's a beautiful work of fiction.
