Summary: Akin to the Mists of Avalon
Review: Just as magical but captivating as the Mists of Avalon, (and this is coming from someone who is not the biggest fan of science fiction.) We were leaving the house one day and I made my family wait so I could finish it. Fantastic.

Summary: Great
Review: This book will make you laugh and cry. I loved it so much I made all my friends read it. Ive reread it many times and still cry. Read it!!

Summary: Great!
Review: The book was really good! If you are a fan of Mists of Avalon, or any other arthurian-like novels you will love this. If you do read the book, you must finish the series, or you will be left hanging! I really love her style of writing, and stories, I can't wait for her to write more!

Summary: Sweet and Subtle Romance
Review: Author Juliet Marillier weaves a story of myth and magic with as much ferocity and conviction as her main character, Sorcha, who as she tackles the seemingly-mad task of spinning six shirts out of nettle for her brothers who have been transformed to swans, must not utter a word in her own defense. Using the well-known fairy tale as a base, Marillier achieves the impossible, not only bringing the story to life with the words of her young narrator, but embellishing the original with her own subtle imaginings of love, honor and power of the unknown. As Sorcha spins, she grows; the nettle ruins her hands, but not her heart. As mad and alien as she may seem, this Irish lass captures the bold heart of a Briton, the unlikely protector the Fairy People have set in her path to keep her safe and whole after so much hand-wringing sorrow. The gooseflesh-raising unspoken interplay between these two characters defines Marillier as a fine mistress of romance.

Whether or not you enjoy romance set against a backdrop of misty Celtic fantasy, or fantasy spiked with a love so sweet you will read until the wee hours of the morning, you will cherish the unfolding promise that lies at the center of "Daughter of the Forest." The writing is a lyrical ode to that sweet core of passion that lies within us all. I look forward to reading the second of the Sevenwaters Trilogy and recommend this, the first, to all.

Summary: I LOVED all of these books.
Review: Ms. Marllier has really done it with the Sevenwaters Triology. I feel madly in love with all the characters in the book, and I was highly disappointed when I reached the end. It's one of those books that leaves you craving for more and I can't wait to read Son of the Shadows.

Summary: An unexpected, multi-layered delight
Review: I found Daughter of the Forest to be a real delight. I had sat down to read expecting little more than some nice mindless Celtic fantasy, when suddenly I realized I was caught up in a time and place and with characters who truly touched me and with whom I deeply resonated. The female characters are strong and resilient, and all characters in fact are deeply fleshed out and three dimensional. This book made me laugh and cry and I was hooked. I've read Son of the Shadows (which I also highly recommend) and am now on Child of the Prophecy, which I have high hopes for. I'd recommend Juliet Marrilier to anyone who likes classic character-driven Celtic fantasy. Bravura writing!

Summary: The Best Book Ever
Review: this book was one of the best i have ever read. if you're into fantasy, and even if you're not, this book is wonderful. It's told from the point of view of a woman, which is a big plus for all you girls out there. in fact, the whole trilogy is written from a woman's point of view. these books share the feelings that everyone goes through, love, loss, hope, and hopelessness. And it told a great tale of Ireland ( NOT Britain) and made it wonderful and magical. I would recommend this book, and the other two also.

Summary: God is in His heaven.
Review: Praise all that is holy, this series captured my heart, this book in particular. I am one of those people who believes that everything that happens to you happens for a reason. That includes which books you happen to come across in you lifetime. This one literally fell into my lap and I am forever grateful that it did. I recently lent this book to a friend and I had to give her my copy and I am in pain for the lack of its presence. I know she will like it, we are both romance freaks and this book dosen't disappoint. Being myself a historical fiction and fantasy freak as well, this is perfect. Read it, please, at least this one (although I don't see how you will stop yourself from reading the rest). Poor Sorcha cannot speak for the majority of the story so it's equally fascinating when you find yourself screaming at the characters in the book for her. Do yourself a favor and read this.

Summary: Wonderfully Told Tale
Review: The first time I started this book, I did not think I would get into it, and put it down after a few chapters. A few weeks later, looking for something to read, I picked it up again, and continued on past the first few chapters. I am so glad I did, because I feel in love with this book. The landscape was enchanting, but the storyline was even more so. I love Celtic lore, and this book gave it to me, with the story itself, and also with the characters in the book telling stories. It was a refreshing read after some of the more main stream fantasy I had been reading. When I finished the last page, I put the book down with a sigh, I wanted more (and luckily she wrote two more books to follow). Even though this book may be slow at first, it picks up and well worth the wait! IF you read this, and like it, be sure to move on to the second and third books of the trilogy, Son of the Shadows and Child of the Prophecy, respectively.
