Summary: An improvement.
Review: Tangled Webs carries on the story ended by DoftD. There are some new characters, and we are greeted by the annoying Shakti Hunzrin. We are also greeted by some annoying sea elves and some annoying Ruathym. The book flows much better than the prequel, and makes up for the annoying characters.

Summary: Tangled Webs is superb
Review: Tangled Webs has one of the best Drow characters ever imagined: Gromph Baenrae (spelling?). Gromph is too little explored and Elaine does just that. It was also nice to read about Menzoberranzen when you aren't sure what will happen again, unlike some of the Salvatore books. Just plain fantastic.

Summary: a story of love, honor and adventure on the open sea
Review: this book is one of the best books i have ever read. every time i go to the field i take this book. this story has you on the edge of your seat;with every little twist and turn and best of all it is a love story with an opened ending need more mrs. cummingham plus i think we are related some where on the family tree.

Summary: What can I say but GREAT!
Review: This book picks off right were daughter of the drow left off. The main characters from the first book come back (even Shakti). The plot was wonderful and cunnigham realy did a nice job with this book. and best of all the book gives you the feeling of a satisfactory ending. I'm not saying I hope there aren't more, cause I hope there are. But with Daughter of the Drow I felt the ending was a real cliffhanger, Cunninham realy improves here.

Summary: Give me More!
Review: This book, along with the previous one, DotD, is excellent. Just like Salvatore's Drizzt Books left me wanting to be a drow ranger, this book made me quickly change that wish from drow ranger to Rashemar berserker! Great book, good characters, only one gripe---Liriel always seems to have Lloth's favor when, in my opinion, she is a renegade like Drizzt. The whole part of Liriel simply deciding not to follow Lloth and regaining control of herself was a bit too far-fetched and underdeveloped. I am eagerly awaiting the continuing saga of Fyodor and his Wychlaran/Drow mate.

Summary: She is the best elf writer period! More dark elves please!
Review: This is a great novel as are her usual. The city of Menzoberranzan is the center for the best told stories depicting Dark elves(DROW). And Elaine takes Salvatore's stories further and immerses you into a whole new hero to love and cherish. Elaine, continue this story please...

Summary: Good continuation
Review: This was a good continuation the story, though a background in sword coast geography and rivalries might be helpful it was not really needed.

The story at sea and later on the island of Ruathym had a lot of twists and turns and was a page turner.

Summary: Nothing to see here.
Review: Ug. I just finished reading this book less than 5 minutes ago and I feel like I need to hurry up and write my summary because this is a book I don't care to remember. Maybe some people like books where you need to take notes and draw maps and flowcharts all throughout your reading so you can keep track of the story, but I'm not one of those people. And in this book it hardly mattered anyway because virtually none of the characters had any reason for existing. They are just there to hopefully draw your attention away from the fact that everything between the first chapter and the last chapter was just filler space.

Too many characters, none of which where particularly interesting or memorable. Even the main characters where rather bland and uninteresting. The book is a jumbled mess of countless sub plots and meaningless reading. The entire 370 page book could be rewritten in twenty pages and you wouldn't really be missing anything that mattered.

Is it just me or did 90% of these characters seem to exist only to make sure the book was over the 300 page mark? "Hi - I'm here. I have no reason for appearing in this book. But I'll stick around for 5 or 10 pages and then dissapear. And in about 50 or 75 pages from now, I'll show up again only to be killed and you'll be left wondering why I was ever in the story to begin with."

To the people that liked this book. I'm very sorry that my attitude about this book is so, well, childish I guess. But that's how I feel about it.

Summary: Elaine, please stick to surface elves and humans
Review: Well I must say I enjoyed this novel, especially with the prequel having left me in a state of "Gee, and how can so little happen on so many pages?" puzzlement. Elaine Cunningham did her best to save the plot (was she aware of this after the first book came out?) You can tell she feels much more comfortable with the setting being outside the underdark, which she has already shown in great harper novels. Her underdark just didn't work for me (much less her drow), and this book shows how great Cunningham can really write. The story unfolds with great detail and less of the confusion which "the Daughter of the Drow" previously held in store for us. The storyline on the sea is great and I really did get to like Fyodor and Liriel (especially her sense of humor) but I also must say that the Ruathyms did annoy me quite a bit and I would not have shed too many tears had they failed to defend their little island. Plus I had to grit my teeth every time Shakti Hunzrin appeared on the scene. Gimme a break Elaine! That character was sometimes just outright ridiculous! All in all a good novel with a good story (& a good logical end). You will like it if you overlook the annoying characters. I still think Elaine Cunningham is THE best author for elf stories, but I will now limit that judgement to the elves who dwell on the surface. Like Elaith Craulnobur (*hint hint hint*, Mrs. Cunnigham.)
