Summary: Scientology or Not...Hubbard Proves Himself
Review: i am not a scientologist,i will never be a scientologist, but having said that....this book is great.....its amazing the way Hubbard sets up Johnny's escape, the irony (the "major human defense base" really being a cadet school of air force pilots), the way Johnny goes about defeating the Psychlos-is genius...the last 100 or so pages are not needed, as all that political garbage with a million different races gets dull fast...still, the rest of the book is fast paced and exciting....who cares if its entirely impossible...since when does a FICTION novel have to be possible...its a fun read, worth your time, and you will not be sorry...forget the improbability of it happening, because once you are in the novel, it did

Summary: Drawn-out yawn fest
Review: First of all, I'll admit I only made it halfway through this book, but it's painfully obvious what's going to happen in the end. I find this book long, drawn-out, and just slightly absurd (tell me, please, how stone-age men learn to fly fighter jets). Sci-fi fans, save your money and buy Manifold: Time.

Summary: I thought I don`t like science fiction...
Review: Before I read this book I didn`t think I will enjoy reading science fiction, but I was wrong.
When I started to read Battlefield earth, I couldn`t leave the book - actually the 2 books...
It was very well written!!!!
I recommend you to get the book and read it.

Summary: Drivel
Review: Hubbard's _Battlefield Earth_ is a mishmash of science fiction cliché and pathetic writing. Its characters are flat and uninteresting--with a main character whose middle name is "Goodboy," the maturity level of the story is obvious.

Do yourself a favor. Don't read the book. If you do, get it from a library (though it's not likely they'll have it). Buying the book just gives more money to the subversive and deceptive pseudo-religion Hubbard founded, Scientology.

Summary: Mr Hubbard's Best Work
Review: This Book will rank as one of the greatest comedies ever. Although it is a bit long and windy a.e gaseous, (something I know quite a bit about), it is a timeless treasure which I recommend to all my physclos friends, and to any good writer who wants to see how funny science fiction can be.

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: This book was awesome! It had a lot of action. It also had a good story line. I would recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction alien stories. It is a really long book and starts out slow but it picks up about a quarter of the way through. It is worth it. The book was awesome!

Summary: Insightful and Dramatic
Review: Only Harry Potter, National Lampoon, and Where's Waldo are more insightful

Summary: Waaaay better than the film
Review: Don't judge the book on the film. They had changed *everything*! I was disappointed in the film.

This book though, is one of my favorite SF books. It is hard to say why. It has it all. It is poetry in action.

Summary: As good as it gets
Review: One of the most enlightening books I have read since Al Gore's Earth in the Balance. The movie is even better only Waterboy was more insightful.

Excellant book highly recommend for those needing a good laugh.

Summary: T o o L o o o n g. . .
Review: Jeeze, this book was awful. Here is why:

1)Hubbard rambles on and on about unimportant, uninteresting nonsense (Which explains 1050 pages. It could have been told in 400). He has poorly structured sentences, and several times I found myself paging back, thinking to myself "What is going on now?" He introduces characters and suddenly they disappear without a trace. His characters are flat and boring and perform unusual, unnatural acts.

2)SPOILER: The first 800 pages or so are about fighting Psychlos. Hubbard seemed to get bored with that, almost instantly dropped that idea, and then introduced little gray men and other aliens looking for "the one". The destruction of Psychlo was nowhere close to climactic as it should have been. Actually, there is no real climax in the book, just flat and boring prose.

The story was good at first, but its unnecessary length and stupid plot twists made it go downhill fast. This book is not recommended.
