Summary: Good Old Fashioned Fun!
Review: I read this book when it first came out and then again several times since then. What I like about it is that it is good, old fashioned fun: straight, no chaser, as they say. It's a big book, but a very fast read. And the central action sequence which occupies a couple hundred pages in the middle is a total page-turner. I'm glad to see it is being made into a movie -- two of them in all likelihood. I just can't see how they could possibly fit it all into one.

Summary: Absolutely great
Review: I've had this book for a long time, can't remember when I bought it, but must have been 12-15 years ago. I read this book about 2 times a year and it is still the best book I've ever read. My copy is so worn that I think I'm reading it for the last time now (or until I buy another one), I'm actually throwing away pieces of it as I go along. I think it is great.

Summary: People are over-examining this book
Review: This book was not meant to be a "deep" sci-fi novel like Asimov's and others. I've read Asimov, Frank Herbert and many other sci-fi greats' work, but this is different. It is more like an epic adventure story than a traditional sci-fi novel. It is to be enjoyed on another level than most other sci-fi. I loved the story and had a hard time putting this book down both times I read it. I have no feelings for or against scientology, so that isn't affecing my review. If you like an exciting story, and want a break from "traditional" sci-fi, read this book. If you think you are "above" this type of story, fine go find something else. I for one would reccommend it.

Summary: Best book I ever read!!!!
Review: Battlefield Earth was the best book I have ever read, science fiction or otherwise!!! I consider L.Ron Hubbard to be an amazing genious with words and magic and the only moment I minded in reading the book was the point when I realized the book was finished and there was no more of that great story to read!!!! I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read a book that is hard to put down!! I read this book many years ago and have read hundreds of books since then by some of the other best writers in the world, and I have yet to read a book I enjoyed as much as Battlefield Earth!!

Summary: A non stop action packed sci-fi that is hard to put down.
Review: I first read this book when I was 16 years old and found that it was a challenge to the mind. It gets you involved with the main character straight away and allows you to follow his struggles against an entire race that all but wiped out mankind. The more I read the harder I found it to stop. Each character was obviously thought about down to the tiniest detail. From "Jonnie Goodboy Tyler" to "Ker" the midget Psychlo you find each to be very real and entertaining. This book would not appeal to everyone nor would anyone expect it to, however should you find yourself with several spare hours and enjoy an action packed Science Fiction novel then I would strongly urge you to give this a try. I would be suprised if you didn't enjoy it.

Summary: Simply the best book ever
Review: This book is the best ever. If you believe that reading a book should be entertaining, than this is the one. Its simplicity makes it intense.

Summary: I liked this book. ALOT
Review: I did. I thought it was smart, action oriented, and with cool characters. One problem, though. I WAS 12 YEARS OLD.

I re read it as an adult(18, not 78) or rather , tried to re read it. The silly, sexist and obvious book might as well have tagged the characters with GOOD and EVIl in huge capital letters, cause it's so obvious which one is which. The book is so lean on making the hero great that it's insulting.

Still, I gave it 2 stars, cause if you're 13-14 you might like this book.

Summary: One of the best books ever written
Review: This book is awesome! Don't believe any of these negative reviews. The book may look long, but I finished it in two weeks because I couldn't put it down for a second. It's great!

Summary: Very good reading. Can't put it down. Suprised by some
Review: I have loved this book since first reading it when it came out (I'm 34 now). I've read it 4 or 5 times over the years and keep it around because I know that every 3 or 4 years I'll have forgotten enough about it that it's seem fresh.

I have been a bit suprised by some of the comments and seemingly extreme feelings that people have indicated having about BE. But I suspect that those who are claiming 'it's just Scientologists raving' are just negative about that cult/religion. Personally, for the record, I do not consider myself a Scientologist, though I'll admit my grandmother is a minister of it. My degree is in Psychology, a scientific field of study that she (and most other Scientologists) have never really studied by some of her comments.

Any any case, this book was/is riveting. I have to agree that a suspension of disbelief is VERY needful when you read it, but once that is accomplished, you can have plenty of 'feel-good' moments throughout the book. There is never a dull moment (well, OK, about two-thirds through there's a bit of building up for the last third and a does drag for just a few pages). I also agree that it was far too short. I can see the possibility of a sequel, except for the fact that Hubbard has, as my grandmother says, "dropped the body". Enjoy!
