Summary: Garbage
Review: I think Hubbard's maxim in writing this book was: "Why do in a paragraph what you could make a chapter". This book is unbelievably wordy and it was totally unneccessary. In one portion of the book, the main character sits down to a chinese feast. The author fills almost an entire page with a simple list of what he ate, separated by commas (Chicken rolls, fried noodles, ect. Ad nauseum).

The characters are totally one dimensional and worthless. The plot is flat, predictable, unbelieveable and boring. The technical details are rediculous.

I was lured by the excellent reviews on this site, but frankly I can't understand them. If you have a second grade reading level, then this book is for you, otherwise, run, very fast.

Summary: A good Sci-fi read.
Review: This is a good story and well written. Grab a copy, set your agendas aside, and enjoy.

Summary: A terrific story!
Review: It's hard to say what I enjoyed most about this book. The action and surprising plot twists. Or the look at planet Earth. Although some of the most exciting scenes surround the hero and his fight to outwit the evil race of alien invaders, the segments about the intergalactic laws and the bankers kept me turning the pages with the same intensity. A definite must-read.

Summary: Non-stop adventure!
Review: This book was fast-paced and a real page-turner! I'd recommend it to anyone -- science fiction fan or not. It has non-stop action, adventure and suspense!

Summary: Great Adventure!
Review: This is one of my all time favorite stories! It grips you and holds you for the entire book. You will lose sleep, but it is well worth it. I recently read it again after about 7 years and am still enthralled with the characters and the terrific plot.

Also, I would recommend it for teen readers. My son was not a "reader" but this is one book he finished cover to cover - twice!! Now that's a recommendation!

Summary: Battlefield Earth : A Saga of the Year 3000
Review: This book is VERY ENTERTAINING. Hubbard's characters have depth and warmth. The story is classic sci-fi with a lot of interesting technology twists and fast-pacing. A GREAT BOOK!

Summary: One of my all-time favorites
Review: I really liked this book. The story is really exciting and it was hard to put down. It's one of those books that once you pick it up it pulls you through, makes you want to read one more chapter and then one more. The characters, action, events and generally uptone beat makes this one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: One of the best science fiction books ever
Review: This is the first L. Ron Hubbard book I have ever read and it is blew me away. Battlefied Earth was as near to perfect a science fiction book I have ever read. Reasons for this abound: Beatiful pacing, easily understood, great attention to detail, and awesomely original. The pacing of the book keeps you reading deep into the night and consumes every speck of free time you have. Addicting I must say. This book is easily understood and I can remember no time where I found myself lost in which I did not understand what was going on. Attention to detail makes every location interesting and memorable. From the descriptions of the Pyschlo home-planet to the some-what primitive home of Johnny, things just never seem bland. The main thing that keeps the book constantly entertaining is its superb originality. Original and well-execueted ideas fill the rather lengthy book and bring you fully into the futuristic world. With no flaws to speak of, I say go purchase this book.Trust me on this one, Battlefield Earth is a must read for anyone interested in scince fiction.

Premise: -Humans are near extinct and an alien race called Pyschlos, the rulers of the known universe, use Earth as a mining site for important minerals.Terl plans to use the remaining humans in a masterful plan to return to the homeplanet, Pyschlo, and get rich in the process.Johnny, a bold human must find a way to save his race or die trying.

Summary: This is the "Best" book I've read.
Review: I don't know how a lot of people can degrade this book. I have read quite a few books in my time and I think that this one here ranks up there with "Salems' Lot" in my opinion. I read this book quicker than any book I've read yet. I really liked the fact that I didn't have to be a science geek to figure things out.

The books itself has everything needed to become a great novel. It has all the suspence one could handle, the good vs. evil, and a hero that defies all odds and comes away the victor. Once I picked this book up I couldn't stop reading it. I would catch myself waking up in the mornings and reading about 50 pages before I would go and eat breakfast. I never do that with any book, but I did it with this one.

So, I would recommend this book to everyone. It is really awesome how Hubbard creates this futuristic world and makes you love it like it is your own.

Summary: One of the best? Not really. But at least give it a try.
Review: I read this book cover to cover. I don't understand what all the whining is about. I have read "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Starship Troopers", and all of the Dune series. I have read science fiction novels since I was a little kid, and I am not a Scientologist, but I thought this book was alright. I resent the fact that one reviewer said you'd either have to be stupid or a scientologist to enjoy this. I enjoyed it. It wasn't great, and I don't think I could ever sit through the racial profiling and the stale plot line again, but at least I can say that I read it. If you want to read it just for fun or just because, then you should. If you want to read it to be able to say you read a book that was over a thousand pages long, then read "Atlas Shrugged" or some other "great" novel that you might be able to get something out of.
