Rating: Summary: Full of romance, heros, battles, and legends Review: This book is great if you like romance & legendary heros & battles. This the only Drenai book I have read and already I want to get the whole set. I liked it because I couldnever guess what would happen next and described the caracters so well that when some of them died I was sad.
Rating: Summary: The Legend of Fantasy books. Review: A fast moving fantasy of epic proportions, it rates at the top of the list among houshold names such as 'Lord of the Ring' and 'Magician'.
Rating: Summary: Chaos, hope, courage and love in the middle of a storm. Review: David Gemmell writes in an unique way, refusing to bow down the hero steryotype, instead portraying his heroes, villains and people in a realistic way. So realistic that you would imagine them to be of real-life. War is also portrayed in a realistic way, so much that you feel like you are transported as a witness in medieval battle at a fortress. I highly recommend this book. Prepare to weep, laugh, smile and have your heart soar.
Rating: Summary: Best fantasy book I've ever read Review: I normally read most books in a two weeks, maybe three. Every David Gemmell book I read takes me about three days. Once I start reading one I can't put it down. This is his best book in my opinion. I lent my own copy to four of my friends, they all thought it was fantastic. The best thing about Mr Gemmell is that you always finish one of his books feeling moved. I think he's a great writer.
Rating: Summary: LEGEND IN IT'S OWN TIME Review: Vivid chacters, intense battles, impossible odd's. What more could you ask for in a novel? Well, I want more. Maybe a Druss the Early Years, I can only hope that Mr. Gemmell will keep writing. I've not been disapointed yet.
Rating: Summary: PUTS FIRE IN THE SOUL Review: This is one of the greatest books you could ever read.It has the usual indominatable hero warrrior "Druss", who steals the show in my opinion, but also has another reluctant hero whom anybody could relate to.Vivid descriptions of battles which leave you with the feeling you just been given a lesson in swordanship. But the book also stirs the soul, there is a letter written to David Gemmell in which a man saw a womman being attacked in a park, and without hesitation he went to her aid and had he not read the book he doesn't know what he would of done.I'm not saying you'll become a fearless axe wielding warrior, but this book does inspire confidence deep inside you.You will be a different person after it.
Rating: Summary: Is David Gemmell ... Druss The Legend? Review: I have read (lived) thousands of books, and David Gemmell weaves the fabric of his tales tightly, almost as if the very Stones of Power are truly his and he is merely relating history as he viewed it. If you haven't read any of his books, pick any one. I am certain you will then read them all
Rating: Summary: Outstanding...Incredible...Absolutely Without Par!!!!!! Review: David Gemmell is one of the finest authors that I have ever
read. The entire Drenai saga, as well as the Stones of Power.
His books reach down deep inside of you and "connect" you with
the heroes. You feel their trials and tribulations as your
own. With their victories, your spirit soars. And as a hero
makes the ultimate sacrifice, you can only stare on in wonder, realizing that you have witnessed the rise, fall, and
redemption of a true hero. If this hasn't sold you on this
book, then you are a hopeless soul, floating bereft in a sea
of chaos. BUY THE BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Need a change for the better in your reading material?? Review: I have read the whole drenai saga, and this opening is
spectacular. Gemmel is the first author I've ever seen that doesnt pull his punches. His writing is no-holds-barred and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time you're reading it. You will have no other choice to move on to the next book, Waylander, becuase its just that good. A Definite
'put-down-everything-and-read-it-now' book...
Rating: Summary: Amazing depth of characterization in a war setting Review: David Gemmell has continued in his on-going trend of introducting great characters, making you know and care about them, and then placing them in completely untenable situations. This is epic fantasy at its best. However, be warned that the book does not have a happy ending - when David Gemmell sets up a hopeless scenario, he does not suddenly change the rules. Despite the fact that it is in many ways a tear-jerker, it was still a distinctly worthwhile book that I recommend highly
