Rating: Summary: Sorry Review: To all of you that "talked" me into reading this:
There can only be a few reasons that SO many people have loved this book. They are as follows:
a.) You read this (or are reading this) when
you were 10(and that's okay, because everyone has to
start somewhere, but you need to GO ON if you
GREW UP).
b.) You have never read a decent sf/fantasy series or any
other semi-readable novel.
c.) You do not understand the time/space continuum.
Now, that said, I cannot write to save my life. But, I can and do appreciate or dislike a book or series that disappoints and/or moves me, and this did neither. It just bored me to death.
I found myself skimming as much as I could just to get to the end.
As I said before, I am sorry to all of you who did like this series. I had been looking forward to reading more of Anne McCaffery in the future, but I think that at this point, I will go on to something that I can appreciate. And to those of you that haven't committed to starting this series, hopefully, you will not waste you time on this drivel as I did.
Rating: Summary: Dragonriders of Pern Review: My introduction to Anne McCaffrey was the second book of this trilogy and I absolutely loved it. I read the third book, The White Dragon, and it became one of my favorite books ever. Then I read the first book of the trilogy and I couldn't finish it because I found it to be a very boring read. Since then I have read the trilogy through a couple times and have come to appreciate the first book more and more but still find it to be the least interesting of the three. The second and third book more than make up for the first and if I were just rating them I would have given this trilogy 5 stars.
My advice is read this trilogy and if you are having trouble getting through the first book skip it! The second one does not rely on a thorough understanding of the first.
Rating: Summary: There is no better book Review: I started the dragonmen series as an experiment into sci_fi and found the greatest treat i could ever hoped for. Brilliantly written and amazingly imaginative. Hope everyone tries this . you'll love it!
