Rating: Summary: Very cool Review: I bought this book a month ago and am just finishing Dragonquest now. I still haven't read the last one, but the first two are great. I had a very hard time putting it down long enough to go to class. There's a good bit of action, but it's sort of like the action in Ender's Game by OS Card. It's not people running around from place to place, it's more like people figuring things out and than acting on that. Overall, not bad. A word of warning though: don't start this if you have lots of other stuff to read for school or work to do, it's very distracting and takes a long time to read all of.
Rating: Summary: A must for fantasy and/or science fiction lovers Review: I loved this book! It was introduced to me by a cousin and I couldn't put it down. I've read it twice and I still love rereading it.
Rating: Summary: Love This!!! Review: i love this book. these books ( separately) i've read then this. my first book was dragon song. menolly books were good too. dragonsong, dragonsinger, dragondrums, and dragonriders of pern are my absoballylutely favorites!!! but i wonder: what happens to the dragons after ridding pern of thread??? maybe the people used them as tranportation to places? i hope to find out soon!! i 've read almost all anne mccaffrey books, but i am also reading other books by other authors, such as l j smith's night world books. those are good too!!
Rating: Summary: This series is something I can't describe; It's so cool Review: The series of the dragonriders is totally...some other way to say the best, good, exciting series to ever exist! note: (Lessa is so cool!) The series takes my breath away with all the hair raising moments and the love for their dragons. I am not rating just this book 5 stars but all the books that have anything to do with the existance of pern. I just gotta say good job McCaffrey; keep on writing. Oh Yeah; if ya wanna see pictures of the people of pern check the book out "people of Pern," the pictures are really awsome!
Rating: Summary: Wow, all of McCaffrey's most famous in one cover! Review: I read each of the books separately, and I loved each one. Anne, if you're reading this, kudos to you. I'm an aspiring writer, poetry mostly. From simply reading your novels I've picked up a lot. I love how seamlessly you've connected the aspects of Perneese culture and history. Keep writing, I'll be on the other end of every one of your novels.
Rating: Summary: It became a movie in my mind. That is the perfect kind. Review: I have read every "Pern" book that I could get my hands on. The last being "The Masterharper of Pern". They are so well written that you forget that you are reading and can visualize them in your head. I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy and I love it when the Author can write in a way that allows you to see the characters not just read about them. The Dragonriders Of Pern is one of the best series of books that I have read. I found that I could not wait for the next book. When I would sit down to read one, I would tend to forget about the things that I needed to do and read the book until it was done. I couldn't put it down. I look forward to more books in this series if she has more to give.
Rating: Summary: Terriffic- McCaffrey at her best! Review: McCaffrey has created a world which is just as interesting as the book's characters themselves. This does not mean, however, that the characters are dull or monotonous. Each person/creature in this trilogy is a separate individual that truly acts on his/her/its personal convictions, rather than those of the author. Pern's inhabitants work their way through the conflict, smetimes cooperating, sometimes not. This trilogy is a work of art: McCaffery at her best!
Rating: Summary: Good when you are younger, sliding down to bland Review: I read my first Pern book when I was 10. It was The White Dragon. I thought it was fantastic and since then I have read all the Pern books, except the newest one, whatever it's called. I think this series has gone on too long. When you start writing books about the Masterharper that have nothing to do with dragons... Lessa seems a little cruel to me, and my favourite characters are Jaxom and F'lar. Unfortunately, these books have a certain sense of "Oh no we have a problem" and then 5 minutes later it's fixed with no effort from the characters at all. I would love to have a dragon though.
Rating: Summary: Great book to get hooked on the series! Review: This was the first book of Anne McCaffrey's that I read and it still remains one of the better ones because it gets you really involved with the charactors as if you know them personally. It has a set plot line through the whole book and doesn't lose you half way through. I think the three best charactors were Lessa, F'lar, and Masterharper Robinton because of their importance in this book as well as all the other books relating to the Ninth Pass. I highly recommend this book to people who have yet to read it.
Rating: Summary: Good, fun reading Review: I have read every Anne McCaffrey book on the Dragonriders of Pern series. The premise is simple, clean fun that anyone from 12 to 102 can wile away a few hours. The stories are written that one can follow and are not caught up in the hard-core science fiction genre of technological gadgets, gore and mind-bending horror. The series can be rather repitious(sorry if I misspelled that) at times but Anne keeps the reader interested. Also, I liked her "Killashandra" series. Whatever you think of this review believe me, I have read the Pern books several times over and haven't tired of them.I also hope Anne McCaffrey goes beyond the end of Avias to another level.
