Rating: Summary: It is an action packed book Review: This is the best book since the Golden Compass. It is so exciting. It is amazing how a book can be 10 billion times more exciting than a movie. Page turning action, like in this book, keeps you on the edge of your seat just as much as cars flipping over and peoples guts being torn out, not to mention, that you don't miss anything if you have to go to the bathroom!
Rating: Summary: Magnificent Review: A marvellous book. It tells about Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon, try to find out the question of dust. They meet up with Will, a murderer already, in the mysterious city of Cittagazze, which is full of soul eating specters. Will wins the Subtle Knife in the fight and Lyra gets captured by her evil mother Mrs. Coulter. The witches come to the rescue when Will and Lyra are trapped by some angry children!
Rating: Summary: A great book for fantasy readers! Review: I thought this was a great follow up on The Golden Compass. Will Perry (the new character) was well developed through out the book. I liked how this book included some of the old characters like Lee Scoresby and Serifina Pekkala ( I was disappointed that Iorek Byrinson, one of the main characters in The Golden Compass, wasn't included). Although I thought Lord Asriel's (and all the othe characters ) views against the church were wrong, it was an interesting fantasy.
Rating: Summary: It took my Breathe Away Review: Hi, The Subtle Knife was as wonderful and suspensful as The Golden Compass.I loved both books so much and it made me think that this could really happen. Why wouldn't God have made more than one Universe or planet where people believe in Him??? The creativity and originality of these books was so unbelievable and beautiful it brings tears to your eyes.Mr.Pullman makes you love the characters and really care about them.I maybe only 13 but I know a great book when I see one and I LOVED it.I can't wait until the next book! Mr.Pullman makes you believe that all things are possible.....P.S. Please e-mail me if you want to gush about The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife.I NEED someone to talk to about it!

Rating: Summary: Eh, an average fantasy Review: Not much action or plot in my opinion. I don't really recommend this, because the plot goes too quickly. Chapter to chapter is a new topic, no chance to ponder or think about what happened. Not written well either, nothing that was done connected or made sense in the end. Must have been thrown together by the author for a quick sequel. I didn't find this satisfying, so maybe you should just read THE GOLDEN COMPASS again.
Rating: Summary: How could there ever be better books in the world????? Review: I just finished reading the book 15 minutes ago, and I'm still a blubbering idiot. I cried throughout the entire last chapter. I feel like I need to decide between the Authority or Lord Asriel. I could not put down the book. Will must find Lyra. I would recommend this book to any creature who has the ability to read!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: it was just as exciting as the last one & made you want more Review: The book was just as good as the first one but it introduced more characters to love and hate. Will is an excillent character whose brave, street wise, and can fend for himself. I can't wait to read the next book!
Rating: Summary: disappointing after the golden compass Review: I thought the Golden Compass was one of the best books I had read in years. After a lifetime of reading fantasy books with male heroes (from Charles Wallace to Peter Pevensy to Thomas Covenant to Harry Potter, with Frodo and Garion and a host of others along the way) here was finally a book with a wonderful, witty, brave, funny, heartwarming *girl* at it's very center. But Subtle Knife, while interesting and well written and definitely a page-turner, turns Lyra into a groveling sidekick to Will, who won't even look at her alethiometer without Will's permission. I suppose this makes me sound like some sort of virulent feminist, and I'm not. I just hadn't realized how much I had enjoyed Lyra's personality until it turned to mush in this sequel. Maybe the third novel will remedy this, but it's hard to see how--at the end of this novel, everything points to Will. I'm still fascinated to see exactly how the final battle will play out, but extremely disappointed in The Subtle Knife.
Rating: Summary: It was awesome! Review: This book was as good as the golden compass, which was awesome, too. I couldn't put it down, I read it all in one night. It was unbelievablly thrilling and realistic.
