Rating: Summary: Astoundingly delicious Review: Genius in writing. The characters are like members of your own family. Robert Jordan style in an earlier work. My only regret is that the series is only 3 books. Not to be missed by any so-called readers of fantasy. My favorite trilogy
Rating: Summary: Solid Fantasy with little variation but good characters Review: Tad Williams has not exactly reinvented the wheel by writing this series; instead he resorts to the basics of solid fantasy writing. He does however make up for this through a wonderful character analysis and a fascinating setting. The story is very similar to Robert Jordans "Wheel of Time" series, although a little slower to grab the readers interest and with a more demanding style.
The book is rather boring in the beginning, but starts to fascinate as one continues to read, especially towards the end of the first book, when T.W character's almost seem to come alive. Those of you who like Robert Jordans books will also enjoy reading this book, especially while waiting on Jordans next book to come out- perhaps the best thing yet: "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" is already finished.
Rating: Summary: Great writing makes a great book! Review: Tad Williams has to be one of the best writers in sci fi/fantasy. You believe in his people; believe in the land of Osten Ard. You feel the heaviness of the forest and the cold of the Frostmarch. Starts off a little slow, but you're rewarded because when the action does start you know who, where, how and why and you care about what's happening. This is no hack story using pulp dialog. Dragonbone Chair is beautiful, exciting and full of magic
Rating: Summary: A slowly building tale of truly epic Proportions. Wonderful. Review: This book starts out fairly unexcitingly as the simple story of the days in the life of an errant kitchen boy in a great castle.
Meandering from there, seemingly without direction, it slowly drags the reader deeper into the spell of the story, a spell paralleled by the spell being cast across the mythical land of Osten Ard which Williams describes.
Just as Tolkien's wonderous works contained a background based upon the various Celtic and Welsh Myths which colored
all of his works, so this trilogy seems to have been colored by Tolkien's works, as though they were the base myths upon
which this book (and the whole series) was written.
The plots within these pages are more twisted than the coils of a snake, heed the advice Williams gives in the first few pages: "..Observe the old customs, and make no assumptions...". Nothing in this book is as it at first (or even second) appears to be!
Truly a grand work which all will want to read again, and again.
Rating: Summary: One of the most compelling books I've ever read Review: Although the book started out slow and cumbersome, the
information provided in the beginning was necessary for the
monumental task still ahead in the rest of the trilogy. By
the middle of the book, I could no longer put it down as the
insidious designs of the enemy came to fruition
Rating: Summary: Absolutely fabulous! Review: yes I have to agree with most of the reviews here. This is clearly one of the best fantasy novels in the market. I am a Tolkien devotee and for years I ahd been searching for a worthy successor....I think I have found it.
I can only hope the Otherland is as good

Rating: Summary: Read this book. Review: All I have to say is that if you enjoy fantasy novels, this book (part one of a trilogy) is for you. It is absolutely one of the the best books I have ever read - and I have read quite a few.
It's one of those rare books that you don't want to end. You really should read it.
Rating: Summary: A beautifully written, moving epic fantasy. Review: The Dragonbone Chair is the most beautifully written fantasy that I have ever read, and it is obvious that the author poured his heart into the creation of this story. Every sentence, every paragraph simply flows into the next one. The story is engaging, containing the most moving and harrowing conclusion I have ever read in fantasy fiction. Highly recommended
Rating: Summary: The best series I've ever read!! Review: I loved these books! They are the most brillaint, clear stories... I almost wonder if Mr. Williams knew the main character and grew up in the world he so vividly created in this series. I tell you that these are the most spectacular books ever! No matter what your tastes are, whether you like funny books, dramatic books, adventure books- you'll love it! (I know. I talked a friend who doesn't like to read into reading this! They enjoyed it, too, of course!) Read them! You won't regret it. One warning: you will get hooked
