Rating: Summary: WHAT A GREAT BOOK! Review: I absolutly loved this book! I couldn't put it down. Finally some insight on BOTH Wedge's and Iella's feelings for one another. The comic relief from Janson and Hobbie helped a lot during tense moments, Tycho's outlook on the situations helped me understand parts of the book, and Wedge was typical until that scene where he finally finds the sort of happiness he's been looking for. ALL IN ALL GREAT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: This book was awesome. When I bought it I couldn't put it down. I loved his other X-Wing books but this is the funniest of them all. I read this book quite often. Whenever I don't have anything new to read. I would recomend this book for anyone. It is excelent!
Rating: Summary: Come on General Review: I'm a Star Wars fan and i have many things at home related to Star Wars. This book was average to me because there was not enough space fighting. Most are on the ground. The best scenes are during the middle to the end, after everything goes wrong for Wedge, Hobbie, Janson, and Celchu. Then after that you won't want to put the book down. The book will bore you at the beginning but at the end there is a clash between the Agonizer and Allegiance, defenders included. The ending pays off for the slow beginning.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: This was the best book in the X-wing series, defintely! I loved it! I would reccommend this book to all Star Wars fans! Allston is a master at combining humor, seriousness, love, and all other emotions in the story. This has a great plot that wasn't too complicated or too simple. The characters are wonderful and when you are reading, you almost feel as if you turn around and talk to them. This is a wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: The best only gets better Review: Starfighters of Adumir was a great installmant to the Star Wars Universe. The dialogue between the characters in this novel was the strongest selling point for me. The transistion from a classicaly serious to more than hilarious is one that the characters needed to undergo. Sometimes I think that Star Wars takes itself too seriously but it is obvious in the Starfighters of Adumir that someone on Lucas ranch has finally understood that the universe they live in is for the entertainment of all the legions of fans. If you only buy one or two books in the Star Wars genre I would strongly reccommend that the be X-wing series books.
Rating: Summary: Funny Great but to short Review: this book was just so funny , it had more jokes and funny lines than all the other eight X-wing books had all together , I liked the idea of a civization that doen't know much of the outside world and has its own invetions . Some of the bad things were that I thought Allston made the blade Fighters seem to inferior to the X-wing , becasue when he explained them at the start they sounded like a supiorer fighter. Also Tycho got shot down to much ,I thought he was a great pilot and all . Anyway it was well worth geting and i'm awaiting the next great X-wing book to come along.
Rating: Summary: One of the best in the X wing series Review: Certainly one of the best x wing books published. Allston knows how to develop each character in a way you feel you get to know them and at the same time you don't get distracted from the great plot line. The author has realized that one of the greatest things in the starwars universe is the huge battles and you get enough of them in this book. It is a relief to read this book after seeing so many terrible starwars books lately (Children of the Jedi, Bounty hunter trilogy, etc).
Rating: Summary: Truly a great star wars novel. Review: This book was extremely funny! Since the book included Wes and Hobbie, the comical duo, there were more jokes than most books. With the whole conspiracy of a plot, I found it a wonderful book. I can't wait until the next X-Wing series book comes out.
Rating: Summary: Star Wars Pilots: at work, rest and play Review: This was a fun-filled romp through the Star Wars universe, even though the action takes place on one planet. It was great, Allston clearly and cleanly spelled out the sitautions so well, that you could feel the thrust of engines and feel your heart skip a beat as you dodged blasters with Wedge, Hobbie, and the rest of the Alliance on Adumar.Well written and well laid out, the plot flows along very smoothly. True, things get a bit predictable, at times, but the lovely twists that are provided more than make up for it; to be sure there are plenty of surprises in this one, gang. The dialogue was truly great; finally some real SW fighter-jock banter. Brilliant. As we only had a handful of characters to deal with this time, it was an excellant chance to explore these main characters in more detail; and what better way to do it than by letting the characters speak for themselves. And they do so with gusto. Allston captures the easy comradire between people who have known eachother, through extrodinary circumstances, with ease. Just great. This is by far the most enjoyable of the X-wing series, balancing action, plot, humour and even a little romance (I won't say between who, as that would be telling)in good proportion. If you are a Star Wars fan, you've had the book in your hands within a week of it being on the shelves and you know what I am talking about. If you aren't, buy this one and come over to the light side. If nothing else, you'll get a feel of the magic we all felt back in '77 when we first saw those magic words appear in front of us: A long time ago, in a glaxy far, far, away...
Rating: Summary: A great book. One of the best Star Wars books I've read. Review: This was a great book. It was one of my favorite Star Wars books. I loved how it had great action scenes but mixed some humor in with them. Wes was hilarious and Hobbie and Wedge were funny, too. I also liked how Allston ended the thing between Wedge and Qwi before Vonda McIntyre killed her off for no apparent reason in The Crystal Star. All in all, this was an awesome book, which even tries to rival some of the Tim Zahn books (which ARE the best Star Wars books ever).
