Rating: Summary: The Very *Best* X-Wing Book!! Review: I LOVED this book! It takes the four best (in my opinion) characters from the other X-Wing books, and puts them in an environment where Allston can play them off of each other and create a really cool story. It has action, humor, romance, everything, (Including the Darling One, lol)! Wedge is an awesome leader, (especially at the end, trying to escape a hoard of people wanting to kill the Fab Four), Tycho is a great Second in command (even if he cant get Wes up to a mental age of "oh, 14 or 15."), Wes is as immature, and funny as ever (you gotta love his "Favorite Cloak"), and Hobbie is his usual "Dour" self (especially after he realizes Wedge has lied to him about why they need 4 sets of womens clothing to escape). It also shows sides of the characters weve never seen before. Wedge ready to beat the stuffing out of General Cracken, Tycho being a Mutineer, Wes being embarrassed by Wedge, And Hobbie, who just wants to blow stuff up! Read this book! You will NOT Regret it!
Rating: Summary: A review from one who's read 'em all. Review: *caution this review contains at least one tiny spoiler* Aside from the fact that I've read over 54 novels in the Star Wars series, I have to say this is one of my favorites. I've always loved the X-wing books and am quite possibly one of the biggest Wedge fans around, so Starfighters of Adumar scored big with me. This book finaly shows what our favorite rouges are like out of the cockpit, focausing on Wedge, Wes, Tycho, and Hobbie. From Wes being the ladies-man to Wedge finding new love, (yes, he does break-up with Qwi, and there was much rejoicing) It's radiant blend of comedy, action, and of course, a dog-fight or two made this a book I couldn't put down. Not to mention the colorful backdrop of the planet Adumar, a world where famous X-wing jocks like are heros are treated like royality, and grand balls and blastsorwd duels are common place provides a varity of challenges for Wedge and the gang. With a fast-paced plot and a pages of comedy, I recomend Starfighers of Adumar to all fans of the galexy far, far, away. Whether you're a seasoned reader like me, or if you're starting out, this is an awsome book. My only regrets are that there isn't anymore to this great novel, and that poor Wedge never got the relaxing vaction he wanted.
Rating: Summary: starfighters of adumar Review: definately one fo the best x-wing books, this one follows wedge antillies instead of corran horn or kell tainer. interspersed with funny moments from wes janson and the other pilots, this is a well written book with good action and suspense.
Rating: Summary: Another great book in the X-Wing Series Review: A great read once you get into it. A little slow to start but once the action gets going it never stops and it's brilliant. I wish they'd write more books in this series, it's by far the best in the Star Wars range.
Rating: Summary: Starfighters of adumur. Good! Review: This book was good and made me laugh. Allston takes a few books to get used to but after that his books are great. This book is basicly about wedge/ hobbie/janson and thyco. They focus on dimplomatic stuff. And YES! Iella and wedge get somewhere. If u are new to starwars novels start at the beggining of the xwing series. But other wise buy this book if u are a fan!
Rating: Summary: A terrible book, Allston ended this series with a big flop Review: I feel (and everyone is going to hate me for this) that this books is terrible, the plot is stupid and is hardly interesting, and the way it is written is even worse. After reading Isard's Revenge, which is my second favorite in the series (the bacta war being my favorite), I was very disapponted
Rating: Summary: Laughed my head off Review: Well, to agree with another review of this book, Hobbie, Wes, and Wedge were like the three stooges, but in a good sort of way, at least. In this novel, Allston gives the three a break from the serious life of pilots and throws them into a diplomatic situation on Adumar, a planet on which fighter pilots are held in the highest regard. The Rouges go to the planet to negotiate, and are engaged by duel-happy Adumari pilots and soldiers at every turn. In time, they discover that an Imperial delegation is also vying for Adumar's membership in their government. The three main characters get to act stupid and funny. Janson, as usual, is front and center, dressing in goofy capes and acting like a knight in shining armor to all the ladies. This is basically a huge comedy with a few dogfights and a climactic battle thrown in, and is a great end to the X-Wing series. On a VERY happy note, Wedge breaks up with Qwi (rejoice!) and gets it on with Iella. Go Wedge, go Wedge, get busy, it's you birthday...
Rating: Summary: Starfighters of Adumar Review: I know that many people are going to hate me for writing this review and are going to show that by saying "0 in 20 people found this review helpful" but that's okay. This is my point of view. Firsthand, I think this book should be renamed Diplomats of Adumar. If not for the 10 minutes of non-descriptive star fighting this book would not be in the X-Wing series. This is mostly about Wedge and Iella, with the "plot" in the background. Parts of this book are funny, but you have to admit that there is a very pathetic enemy in this book. Wes, Hobbie, and Wedge act like the three stooges in this book. Their personalities change each time Aaron Alston writes a book. Aaron Allstons best books were with Wraith Squadron. There are some positive things in this book, but I'm not mentioning them since all the other reviews did. Good bye.
Rating: Summary: Stackpole is better, but these is amazingly great Review: I still think that Stackpole is the King of Xwing, but these book is certainly a great one, it is full of thrilling battles and you find a good dose of humorous dialogue. These combination provides a plot that becomes intriguing and interesting, but stays fresh and dinamic. Other nice thing is that you do not need to read the whole X wing series before reading it, since the development of the plot and characters has quite an autonomy.
Rating: Summary: The Force is With it Review: Starfighters of Adumar is the funniest book I've ever read. For that, I recommend this book even if you don't know a bantha from a farumme- you don't need to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy it. Allston's writing keeps a clear picture in your mind at all times- except, of course, for when you're erupting in laughter. Which, trust me, will happen. The characters are realistic- after reading the book you may find yourself referrring to them as you would a real person- and very likable. Starfighters of Adumar is not only a worthy addition to the X-Wing series but a great stand-alone novel.
