Magic's Pawn (The Last Herald-Mage Series, Book 1)

Summary: Thie book made Lackey my 3rd favourite author.
Review: I love fantasy, but I love romances with their awkward moments half again as much. Therefore it is safe to say that this book is as good as K.Britain, T.Pierce, and Joanne Bertin (If you haven't read these authors, shame on you!)
With a mix of magic and the author twisting your emotions into a pretzel, this book will make all books look like crap for a few days after finishing.
P.S., if you're more into action this is NOT the book for you, since it's mostly reserved for the last 30 pages.

Review: This is a WONDERFUL book. I happened, coincidentally, to pick this up just about the same time I myself was coming out, and POW! I'll avoid the spoiler, but the events surrounding Vanyel's awakening to power - well, it was the first and only time a book has moved me to tears.
