Rating: Summary: A masterful book with a maddeningly tantalizing conclusion. Review: I have read many great authors, from Homer to Morrison, Ms. Friedman's "Coldfire Trilogy" could hold its own against the greats. Her work is provocative and inciteful of human nature. The reader is at once enthralled and revolted as the plot unfolds. The conclusion is anything but predictable. Beautiful!
Rating: Summary: Excellent, the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy book in Years. Review: After reading all 3 books in the trilogy, I was sad to see it end. The book took you to a world familiar and yet alien. The characters are some of the best developed character I have read about. I would gladly recommend these books to any one that loves Sci-Fi or Fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Thsi book sends your mind to the limits. Review: All I can say about this book besides the fact i could not put it down is Friedman has written a trilogy better then 'lord of the rings'
Rating: Summary: The Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy I've Ever Read!!!!! Review: To start with, the covers of "Black Sun Rising" and "Crown of Shadows" are the BEST covers I have ever seen. The cover for "When True Night Falls" is disappointing, but I digress. The story is excellent. This is a trilogy I will read again and again and again!!!!
Rating: Summary: Darkly compelling and hard to put down. Review: 'Crown of shadows' is the only book of the Coldfire trilogy which is avaliable here in perth. Denied previous experience of Gerald Tarrant's unholy endevour's I was still caught up and captivated by this masterful character. His many narrow escapes and uncanny ability to survive, no matter what the cost, make for an exciting and entertaining read. This book will make a brilliant centre piece for any sci-fi/fantasy collection. I would also like to compliment the publishers; this book has the best cover I have ever seen on any fantasy novel. Thumbs up for Friedman.
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: I love this book. It is one of the greatest books i have ever read and I will reread it several times. The conclusion to an underdog in the book (those who have read it know who i mean) was the greatest and most moving peice of literature I have ever read. i would recomend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: I picked up the trilogy on a whim, and re-read all three. Review: I have read all five of Ms. Friedman books, and the only thing I have to say is . . . give us more!!!
Rating: Summary: Bring back the life sucker Review: Tarrant is one of the most interesting characters I've had the pleasure to read about. I liked him when he was a nasty killer, and I liked him when he was a not-so-nasty killer. His arrogance and intellect and vanity are the perfect mix for a new type of evil anti-hero. All three books were very enjoyable, and I've kept an eye on the "new fiction" rack for these past two years, hoping to see that there is another generation of Tarrant.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. Simply Excellent. Review: A very strong conclusion to a very well written trilogy. One of the most satisfying conclusions ever...without pushing the limits too far. You have to read it, or you have to read it. Period.
Rating: Summary: Page Turner Review: This was a most satisfying conclusion to the two previous novels.....I especially enjoyed the concluding personality of Gerald Tarrant. In the very beginning, he was all evil, but he had an aura around him that mad him favorable...now at the end..he has become somewhat good and now that aura is even stronger....This book you must read....!!!
