Summary: Excellent
Review: I'm sorry but I don't see how anyone can give this book ar any of kate Elliott's works anything less than a tag of Excellent. She creates richly textured and detailed worlds and characters that absorb one completely. I find it hard to put any of her books down once begun, and am always eagerly awaiting the next one. I rarely write reviews but upon noticing a few "downers" I just had to add my two cents worth and encourage everyone to read her books and form their own opinions. I practically devour sci-fi and fantasy books, have read many over the years and she is definitely one of my top favourites.

Summary: Good, but just a bridge
Review: I always enjoy the intelligence and depth with which Elliott writes; but although I love a long series as much as the next guy, I become upset when I realize the "novel" I just finished was only setting the stage for the next book. It's an interesting story with many angles, but it shouldn't have been released until Elliott had A COMPLETED TALE! Prologues shouldn't be made to stand alone.

Summary: Doh!
Review: Wow! What happened? I guess I was overly optimistic b/c this book fell far short of the mark I had hoped it would hit. It almost appears that the author had a very broad outline before she ever started, and that she is having trouble actually sticking to that outline. Perhaps it is time for a revised outline? As I read this book, I wondered if perhaps she had initially conceived this series running for six or seven books. That would really be a tragic ending to what should have been a promising trilogy. I hope she can wrap it all up in a fourth novel, or at least wrap up some of the hanging issues.

Summary: Where is this going?
Review: I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this thrid book seemed to be losing it's focus. I guess that I am getting tired of all of the weak characters continually playing the more prominent roles. I hope that someone will develop a sense of purpose besides whining about their problems.

Summary: The Saga Continues
Review: This book continues the King's Dragon saga, resolving some of the conflicts and building towards the climax. Elliott's understanding of history, reality, and people is profound and woven into a vivid world. She avoids cliches, flat simple characters, and shallow places and races that often plague the literature of the fantastic. Instead she gives us a world in which the veil that separates reality and fantasy is lifted and the two worlds blend for a rich reading experience. The characters are us, frail, dynamic, and strong all at once. A definite read for those who want to feel when they read.

Summary: Not a page turner, a page skipper
Review: This is the third in at least a series of four, and proof positive that Ms. Elliott can milk a story as well as Robert Jordan: this series is going on and on and on...ad infinitum and ad nauseum. In order to accomplish this, she has so many storylines and so many characters going in so many different directions, one gets lost (the geneological chart at the front of the book is of absolutely no help at all). As one gets further and further into the book, you'll find yourself flipping over whole chapters and saying, "end already!"

The crime is that she has, in the tale of Bloodheart's successor, a truly fascinating and creative story-line that goes nowhere and has no apparent relationship to the rest of the book.

For those of us who loved her JARAN series, this a real disappointment. Let's hope she will mercifully end it all soon and go on to something worthy of her talents

Summary: An experience more than worth the price of the book.
Review: Kate Elliot creates a well developed world with a history and meaning for her characters. She brings meaning to her characters with well developed personality's and backgrounds. Few books follow the political life of the medieval/fantasy setting as well as she does. Rather than romanticizing, Kate Elliot creates a world and people founded in true human nature, who undergo fantastic events that shape their lives. This book is not up to the level of most of J.R.R Tolkiens works, but comes as close as most evething else in the Fantasy genre. This Series is definately worth the read.

Summary: Wonderful.
Review: Kate Elliott is the most beautiful writer I have ever encountered in the modern world. Her work is truly art. She paints pictures that come up clearly in my mind. A friend of mine stayed over one night, and we spent the entire night reading her book back and forth outloud. I lost my voice after, but it was worth it. I think Kate is on level with Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan, but in a different way. She has knowledge and beauty in her work, and they have prophecy and legend.

I would recommend these to anyone who likes good Fantasy.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I loved it. Read the first one in the library and couldn't put it down. So I had to buy the 2nd..then the 3rd...which I thought was the last. I hope she hurries with the final book. I finished this book almost a month ago, and still think about it at least once a week, wondering what happened to Liath and Sanglant. I'm usually not so obsessive about a story, either.
