Review: What can be better than the Death Gate Cycle? The Death Gate Cycle in collectors edition. But since it seems nobody gave it a thought, you'll have to but each book of the seven seprately. For all Dragonlance fans: THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU! Volume two, five, and seven are the best in the series, but don't DARE to think that the others are crap! Since 1985 (Dragonlance Chronicles) such a great series was never written! WARM RECOMMENADATIONS! If you read it or dragonlance chronicles, I'd love to chat a bit about thiese great series... just email me! Hope you decided to add this book to your shopping basket, or to take it from the library, av

Summary: Amazing end to an amazing series!
Review: What can I say but.. Wow! I started reading the Death Gate series when I picked up the book "Elven Star". I loved it so much I went back and bought the rest of the books all at once. The Death Gate series the most wonderful and engrossing epic I have ever read, each book able to stand as it's own adventure but also tying in with the ones that follow. Deaths Gate is right up there with the LotR saga. This book.. The Seventh Gate, is a wonderfully fitting ending to the series, with action, angst, and an amazing final battle. Most importantly, it demonstrates the strength and importance of friendship and staying true to oneself. I don't want to spoil anything about the book, but I highly recommend it, and all the others in this series, to any fantasy lover.

Summary: The Best Of The Lot?
Review: What can one say about Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman?Together theyvegiven us the readers the Dragonlance Saga which has left us completely spellbound! And yet they simply do it again with the Death Gate Cycle which has left us simply gasping for breath and craving for more! The Seventh Gate being the last book of the series, concludes the tragic tale of the Sartans and Patryns. The reader can REALLY feel the anguish and hopelessness of the situation, and the authors have done a fantastic job portraying the images. The series itself also in some ways realtes to real life dilemmas like racism and prejidous as with the case of the Sartans and Patryns. In this epic finale, the Sartan and Patryns finally realise that they must put aside their own differences and battle thier true enemy and strive for survival. This book is indeed a tragic tale, and yet again Margaret WEis and Tracy Hickman have shown that they really do belong at the top of the mountain! A MUST have for all fantasy collectors, the entire saga and this book simply cant be put down!

Summary: Not up to the standards set by the rest of the series...
Review: While I loved the first six books in the series, I was really disappointed by the ending- it seems to rely on many, many Deus Ex Machina additions to resolve the conflicts set up in the first six books... In particular, I didn't like the circumstances of Haplo's reappearance ("Just kidding, everybody! Group hug!"), and was very disappointed at the circumstances of Sang-drax's destruction.

Honestly, it seemed to me as if Wies and Hickman didn't really know how to end the series, so they just threw something together at the last minute. There are at least one or two major plot holes in this one. While I'd like to stress that it's not a BAD book, it's also definitley not the best in the series.

Summary: Conclusion Most Dissapointing
Review: While I must admit that I am biased towards almost any Weis and Hickman book, I was stunned by the horrible ending of this otherwise excellent series. The conclusion was unfulfilling with several loose ends left unresolved. This book really does diminish the quality of the other six novels.

In particular, Alfred's story arc comes to an abrupt end and we never learn the basis of his power. After several vague references to his past by Zifnab, I at least expected some sort of resolution.

Additionally, like another reveiwer pointed out, the frequent use of acts of god to resolve conflicts was very irritating.

I still enjoyed reading the series but am definitely left dissapointed in two of my favorite authors.

Summary: Incredible series
Review: While there were some down points when the four worlds were being brought to life, the detail was outstanding. I thought the series was great overall. Although I greatly enjoyed the characters of Alfred and Haplo, my favorite characters would have to be the dog and Zifnab. The series didn't need the comic relief, but it was worked in great. The ending was a bit unexpected, but it provides a decent conclusion to everything. Who woulda thought it was gonna end this way?
