Summary: One of the First and Finest
Review: This book is one of the Fantasy genre's finest moments. Moorcock is absolutely incredible with discription and dialogue. His use of language is breathtaking and his characters are powerful. His world has inspired the darker tones of White Wolf publishing, Neil Gaiman is a fan. His characters have been drawn by BROM. This story forms images and plot lines that will stay with you. The story of Elric and his soul starving sword are the symbols of the author's own addictions. Elric is a Fantasy version of O'Barr's "Crow". This novel is quick to read, and will quickly push you onto the rest of the series.

Summary: A great fantasy book
Review: The book seemed to start of slow, but it really picked up and turned out to be a great story. It was well worth my time and money. I really reccomend you read this book if you are looking for a good time. I was disappointed at the short length of 181 pages though.

Summary: One of da best
Review: That is all that needs to be said. I suggest you buy this book because I read it, I'm only twelve, But I've read the best, and this one is sure up there. Look for me under 'freakin' in the Member Files!

Summary: This Book is almost as good as the Lord of the Rings!
Review: I am speaking truthfully when I say this, also. I am only twelve, but I have a love for almost all fantasy/science fiction books. I have all the classics in my head, and I must say that this book is about second only to the greatest trilogy of all time, The Lord Of The Rings. If you like science fiction, then this is a must for your collection!

Summary: Second best novel I've ever read.
Review: This has got to be one the best novels I have ever read... maybe the best fantasy novel I've ever read, up there with book one the Belgariad and book one of Chronicles. It's wholly different from anything I've ever read, with a bizarre, dark anti-hero who is trapped in his own moral systems venturing through an even darker land. The description is very atmospheric and Moorcock offers vivid imagery. The brevity of words and short length of the novel only add to its excitement. This first book is very well constructed and tightly plotted. One minor spot it may lack in is characterization of some of the main characters, and it could have been longer. It's a real page turner and a true gem in the fantasy genre.

Summary: Wonderfully Bleak
Review: I read this series of books many years ago, and enjoyed them immensely. For those of you that are interested in something similar then try Jack Vance and his Dying Earth series (esp. Cugel's Saga). Although not as dark they are equally difficult to put down and, IMHO, Vances' writing style is unparralled.

Summary: This is one of the best books ever written.
Review: I have enjoyed the Elric Saga more than any other series of books I have ever read. The characters and plot are genius, but the style of writing itself is what I admire most. The syntax Moorcock uses is quite exquisite and very odd. Though it is a fantasy novel I would have to sday that this book is one of the best books written in this century.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent read Highly recomended
Review: The first Moorcock book I have read, it is easily one of the best series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I look forward to purchasing the rest of the Eternal Champion Series on the strength of this volume.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Extraordinary, Original Writing which packs a punch!
Review: Michael Moorcock is a terrific writer! I finished reading 'Elric of Melnibone' about a month ago. The writing is very original, dark, highly compressed, with a lack of flowery or superfluous prose (Robert Jordan fans can't identify with this). I was so impressed I am up to the fifth book in this series. Moorcock has moor (pun intended)excitement and action in one 150 page book than Robert Jordan has in one of his 800 page Wheel of Time books.
