Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book was pretty good. Though not so fresh as David Edding's Belgariad and Mallorean series The Elenium had some very good parts. I especially liked Aphreal, a rather childish godess, and Talen, a young street begger/pickpocket. If you liked Edding's other works I recomend reading this.

Summary: You'll like Sparhawk and his companions!!
Review: I took me almost 3 days to read the book and I was so excited and delighted about the characters and the evolving story. Sparhawk is certainly one of the best fantasy heroes every created. The story is thrilling and completely new in the fantasy-genre.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This is my favorite book of all time. I've never read a book with such depth in to the characters. The characters seem too real, because I miss every one of them. After each book you read in the series, the more drawn you'll become into this world. I've read the whole series and also the sequal series that comes after it. I can't get enough, and I truly hope Eddings writes more.

Summary: A fine series in the same spirit as Tolkien and Jordan.
Review: Eddings is a sort of modern Tolkien, on par with Robert Jordan. His books have a certain similarity of characters from series to series and they follow a fairly standard plot, though perhaps not as simple minded as many of his peers. Eddings does a good job of providing women with roles which go beyond simple window dressing, but still fails to really deliver the knockout punch. I will take Moorcock or Kurtz over Edding, but I still rate him highly and read every title he has ever written.

Summary: Excellent
Review: David Eddings has written a great series. I have never been so captivated. The people, the places, even the horse Faran had me facinated. I have read this book 6 times so far. But dont stop at this book read the whole series. Its fabulous stuff.

Summary: Great book, Great characters, Really in depth story-line!
Review: Starts off kicking and only gets better. I have yet to find another author or book that can keep my attention and make me feel what the characters are feeling nearly as well as this book. The depth of each character from flute to sparhawk is completely unbelievable, some of the best one liners to come out before "The Rock".

Summary: The Best Out There!
Review: I have read this and the rest of the books in this series at least 50 times each. This book, however, has the pleasure of setting the tone for the rest. It has a genuine humor to it and it reads quickly, in fact you won't be able to put it down. The characterization is detailed to the point that you grow to know Sparhawk and his friends as if you had known them all your life. The characters are written with such depth and clarity it is impossible to let go of them after the book is done. There is a wonderful undercurrent that richly weaves Spirituality, Religion, and reality into a book of fantasy. The characters are clever and the plot is full of twists and turns. I recommend this book to anyone who likes an intelligent read.

Summary: A good fantasy story.
Review: I have recently read the first two novels in this series and am looking forward to reading more. Although I find that the quest motif has grown a bit stale I loved the characters and dialogue. My only real criticism is having the plot center around one long wild goose chase. It is hard to rally behind characters who never seem to accomplish anything but are instead left chasing after loose ends for all of eternity. Still, the characters and settings are all described with great detail and believability, so I'll gladly pick up the next one.

Summary: Infectuos storyline, remarkably funny and moving
Review: I definitely loved the characters. And the storyline? Loved it. Can't wait to read more of his books. Although quite costly here in Malaysia, it was worth every cent!!!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: a disappionting bore
Review: As an avid reader of fantasy I must say I was very disappointed by this book. The characters are pathetically shallow and the dialogue is extremely trite. You could read the first and last chapters, skip the middle and not miss a thing.
