Summary: Two-Space War
Review: I was very impressed. This book has the characters you expect if you are a fan of Star Wars, the intrigue of Dune and the charisma of Tolkein. Well Done. I'm ready for the sequel. Hurry.

Summary: A new "find!"
Review: I've never written a book review. I love to read blurbs but I hate to have a reviewer tell me the plot of a book. Thus I'm at a bit of an loss about how to discuss one of the most original books I've read in a long time. TSP's concept of FTL is so original that you have to sit and think about it for a while. That's almost a distraction from a book that reads so smoothly. Tie that originality to a level of realism depicting combat, and roll it in the tradition of Napoleonic Sea warfare (More Alexander Kent than Forester) and you have a very different book.

Frankly, having read this book will make me look at combat in other books differently. Any author who is interested in learning more about the true stress of combat and what it mean to kill, would do well to read TSW and ponder it. This is the hard stuff.

As a long time fan of science fiction, it's always a treat to "discover" a new author. I will be waiting anxiously for the next installment. I just hope it doesn't take as long as Mr. Frankowski took between his first and second book. I'm older and don't have that kind of patience any more.

Summary: A must read for the Warrior tribe
Review: If you are a sci-fi fan or just love a really rousing action, adventure tale you will want to read this book. If you are in the military, law enforcement, martial/combative arts or are in any way a part of the warrior tribe then you MUST read this book.

The writing is skillful and entertaining. The action builds in scope and intensity until it seems there is nowhere left to go, and then it powers up and takes you further in the way that only fine science fiction can.

Woven throughout are priceless lessons from fighters, scholars, poets and Col. Grossmans own groundbreaking research. Vital lessons on combat mindset, technique and living with consequences of surviving life and death battle come to life through the story and characters.

A really good book reveals more with each reading, this is one of those.

My only disappointment was that it ended. Bravo, Col. Grossman. Keep 'em coming.

Summary: The Next Sci-Fi Box Office Hit?
Review: Lt. Col. Dave Grossman has established himself as the master of studies and teaching in Close Quarter, Mortal Combat with his previous non-fiction books, "On Killing" and "On Combat".

Throughout the history of armed conflict, the skill, courage, and resolve of the indivudual warrior has remained the constant, despite advances in technology and weaponry. In "The Two Space War", Grossman along with co-author Leo Frankowski create a galaxy of interstellar travellers, where the traits of superior warriorcraft and leadership reign supreme. The authors skilfully weave the psychology, phisiology, folklore, and traditon of battle into a tale that combines primitive as well as futuristic technonogies. "The Two Space War" creates a vison of the future that is enjoyable, and appeals to the adventurer in all of us.

With it's engaging characters, graphic fight scenes, and unique array of weaponry, "The Two Space War" is a natural for big screen and video game adaptation.

Grossman, the academic, is also known for his research and views on the relationship between media and video game violence and societal violence. It will be interesting to see how he melds the action of the story with his views on violence, when the inevitable occurs.

Summary: Skip it for now
Review: Maybe I am spoiled from the earlier Conrad series of books by Frankowski which I recommend as a good read for an timetravel/alternate history adventure but this book just did nothing for me.
I suggest skipping this book until its in paperback its not worth the hardcover price you might want to check out the Island In the Sea of Time series by S.M. Stirling though.

Summary: Destined to Be a Classic
Review: The Two Space War takes the reader outside the usual and into a universe filled with gritty reality, valor and truth. It's science, interestingly, runs counter to current theory. The story gives insight into the past, present and future human condition while providing humor, honor and circumstances that are thoroughly enjoyable. Go into a universe where each person is their own hero...and their adversaries are richly deserving of the term "enemy mine." Read the Two Space War.

Summary: Compelling Reading
Review: The Two-Space War is a gripping science fiction drama that speaks to the heart of the warriors of the world and relates closely to the kindred spirits of professional soldiers from our real world conflicts.... A must read for Grossman fans.

Summary: Everything You Could Want!
Review: The Two-Space War will be a new experience for most readers. It is science fiction, a training manual for military and police, political commentary, and there is also the poetry! Of course, this is a lot to pull together, but don't be put off! The authors do a great job. Above all, the book is a sci-fi adventure combined with a swashbuckling theme in a traditional "battle of ideas." The diversity of styles affords the reader the opportunity to mark sections and re-read as the mood fits -- training, poetry, or action! Thanks to Dave Grossman, those with a police or military background will enjoy picking out the names of legendary trainers and accurate tactical lessons. I keep trying to imagine how great this would look as a movie if the special effects for two-space were done properly!

Summary: THis Book Rocks
Review: This Book Rocks, It is the Best Sci-Fi book ever. The Characters are original and the poetry is AWESOME. If you buy any book this year this is the one to buy!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Both silly fun and serious education
Review: This is a rather silly and entertaining book with some very serious ideas in it. As fiction, it is contrived and hokey, but as a framework for Dave Grossman's knowledge about combat pyschology and the warrior spirit it truly shines.

Occasionally the transition between wish-fulfillment fantasy and nitty-gritty insight about the stress of combat is so abrupt that one gets a kind of whiplash. Persevere. The silly parts are enormous fun, total mind candy, and disposable. The serious parts will teach you things that are grimly, terribly important.

And they're dead on target about St. Browning and the .45ACP, too.
