Summary: Adds Depth to Corran Horn's Character
Review: Corran Horn's personal training in the Jedi academy is explored in this book and his subsequent adventures. The first half of the book repeats the story of Kyp Durron and his involvement in stealing the sun crusher, and the subsequent defeat of Exar-Kun although from the eyes of Corran Horn. This story is original, in that it is narrated in the first person, something unfamiliar in the Star Wars novels.

The second part of the story presents a Corran Horn who is not as strict with the law nor as sharp as we thought he was after his CorSec days. This story almost presents a different character than what we saw in the X-Wing series, although it is difficult to say that this was done on purpose to show a different state of mind in the character.

Summary: A master of the Star Wars universe does it yet again!
Review: Michael Stackpole does a masterful job cleaning up the mess Kevin J Anderson made with the Jedi Academy. I know, I know, Anderson created the Jedi Academy, but Stackpole makes it seem real. Corran Horn is the one Jedi you can always count on to care just a bit too much, to get a bit too into things, and that's what makes him a depthful, interesting character. He is one of the ultimate Star Wars characters ever to come out of the books. The Corran-Mara Jade dynamic seems extremely real and gives both characters a ton of depth. Corran's falling-out and reconsiliation with Luke is totally believable, and for once, toward the end of the book, Luke actually seems like the ex-fighter jock he is. Michael Stackpole and Timothy Zahn are the only two authors, it seems, that can play Luke Skywalker right, and still make things work. The playing of Corran Horn, Mara Jade, and all the rest is masterful. I could not put this book down. It rules!

Summary: Excellent book, but not what I expected
Review: The book jacket summary says that Corran Horn will have to make a "terrible choice - whether or not to turn to the dark side." I thought that this "dark side" of Corran would be similar to that of Anakin Skywalker, who becomes Darth Vader. If you're buying this book with that thought, you may want to reconsider. Corran's dark side dilemma is not quite like Anakin's.

All in all, it's still a great book. It's got lots of humor to keep the reader going, and Stackpole does a marvelous job keeping the excitement going.

Summary: Corran is Awesome
Review: I thought that this was one of the top three SW books ever written. It has a great lead character and Luke needed to be taken off his high horse before he became as complacent as those Jedi the Emperor hunted down. The new generation of Jedi need to be ready and from Corran's perspective they seem to be a little on the short side of actual life experience. Granted Daala was a much better villian, but she never even managed to win a battle besides the slaughter at Dantooine. Mara was obviously something that could have used a bit more research. The first person is not hard to follow for anyone who cares to pay attention or has read any of Stackpole's books.

Summary: Michael Stackpole Writes Another Classic
Review: This is no doubt the greatest star wars book I have ever read. Michael Stackpole continues to write classic novels from the Star Wars Universe.

Summary: What's wrong with first person?
Review: "I, Jedi" was an incredible piece of work. The first person gives us a better insight into Corran and the author himself. This is to the Angry Star Wars Fan, you've stated your OPINIONS. Now, I'll give mine... 1)I believe that at the time of the story, Luke Skywalker was not the most powerful Jedi in the universe, he was just the most experienced. I believe that he may have been a Jedi Master as well, no longer a Jedi Knight. I agree with the fact that Luke faced the dark side, he even experienced it (Dark Empire). 2)On the contrary, the first person is very insightful. You get a better grasp for what Corran feels and thinks. Yes, it is confusing, but its not so bad with a little brain power. 3) I agree, Corran is definitely not a team player, at least in this instance. Of course his main concern was Mirax. 4) The book wasn't ABOUT Han, Leia, or the kids. Duh? 5) Action, it's a story for crying out loud. If I remeber right, Empire Strikes Back was a GOOD story, but it didn't have non-stop action. Drama is not a bad thing. Remember, "Story does matter." ;-) 6)Unlike some people, Corran had a close relationship with his dad. Let him go. That's how he deals with it. 7)People are allowed to change, I believe Mara has. Just because she was sarcastic with Luke early on, doesn't mean she has to be that way to Corran. 8) Yes, she was weak, but it made for an interesting story didn't it. A too powerful enemy takes away from the imagery of the book. Corran is the focus of the book, not the enemy. BUT, in the movies original series and upcoming prequels, the focus is the enemy, Anakin and Vader. Overall, I think the book was great and I cannot wait for the next book from Stackpole, "Isard's Revenge." If you check back, be sure to drop a note. I'm curious to see what you have to say.

Summary: Good but still needs improvement
Review: I like how Stackpole mixed the story in with Jedi academy but a few things where a little wrong.1)The thing about Mara and Corran being freinds. She could have being a little more sarcastic at times.2)What is this with Corran telling off Kun. He such got prove wrong when Kun slapped him around. If I was the author I make Kun hold Corran 50 ft in the air and then drop him (in the lake!) That will teach pilot to talk trash about Sith lords. 3) then Mara join right in telling how Vader is better than Kun! Vader is a classic but next to Kun Vader stinks.(Sure he enslaved a copule races but he had to share in with the emperor.)4)Another female admiral. How come Daala doesn't know about this?

Summary: TRULY, THE GREATEST!!
Review: Stackpole is by far my favourite SW writer and I've read all his SW books, and this is by far the GREATEST!! You might think th first try at a first-person perspective would be bad but this is the best book I've ever read(that and his own Bacta War). Corran Horn Is my favorite character in SW. And in this book he is even better because it is all about him.
