Rating: Summary: WHAT? LUKE NOT ON TOP OF THINGS? Review: I'm a Luke Skywalker fan. Can you tell? But I'm also a Rogue Squadron fan. Corran Horn is portrayed so differently in this book, it's weird. Maybe that's why it'd made a big impression on me. Corran's love for Mirrax really shines through. He does seem compassionate towards Luke all that often, but frankly i wouldn't either with Corran's point of view. Though Tycho, Wedge, Janson and Hobbie are not in this story too much it's still a very good book for the series. Rostek Horn is such an intelligent guy!
Rating: Summary: I,Jedi(Stars Wars) Review: This is one of the best Stars Wars's books ever. Stackpole's characters always seem interesting and this one is one of his best. The development of Corran is good, and you almost wish this book came out before the Jedi Academy. The dissappearance of Mirax is slightly shaky, but is otherwise good. Its fun to see Corran confront his past including Corellia and have to deal with his fame. It has less of the dogfights than usual, but makes up for it with some incredible Jedi action. All the usual characters are in it, even if some are only for cameos. The treatment of Booster is also a great treat and most of the answers to the questions from the Bacta War are finally revealed.
Rating: Summary: one of my fav Review: This book is a good look at luke's academy, it places Corran in the academy without contridictind the Jedi Academy trilogy. Corran was well written and i enjoy the humor placed throughout the book. Especially his jokes while talking to Remart. The 2 survivors he maade better friends with reminded me of others in Rogue Squadron. One reminded me of Ooryl and another reminded me of Corran when he first started in Rogue Squadron.
Rating: Summary: I, Jedi, the best book ever Review: Stackpole's I, Jedi allows readers of his amazing X-Wing series to see Corran Horn's character in a much deeper way, which to me is a very good thing! The storyline combines Jedi and fighter pilot very well, and, contrary to other opinions, Stackpole's portrayel of Skywalker is great! It's good to see Luke Skywalker unsure and vunerable for a change, and addresses a few questions that have bugged me (like why was he allowed to keep the name Skywalker, even though he was supposed to be hidden from Vader?) In all, Stackpole's book is a masterpiece, and I look forward to his New Jedi Order book coming soon!
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as the original three Review: In general I don't like spin-offs. I find them boring. This book though caught my attention and held it. I found Corran Horn to be very refreshing. I like the idea that different people have a different aptitude in the force. I think what really appealed to me about this book is the fact that Corran doesn't rely totally on the force but in other skills he has learned as a detective and a pilot. To be honest I hope that there are more books written about Corran if nothing else than to break the monotonous struggles of Luke, Leia, and Han.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Star Wars novels I've ever read! Review: This is undoubtably one of the best SW books I've ever read. And I've read almost every one that has been written. It is a wonderful book in itself, but it is ten times better to those who have read several SW books. The references to events in other works gives the story a depth that would be impossible to attain without the support of such a highly developed environment that the myriad of SW novels has created. It starts a little slow (like all classics) but it is worth it to set up the storyline. It is interesting to see the events of the Jedi Acadamy Trilogy through someone else's eyes. I'm a little disappointed with how Luke is portrayed, but that has nothing to do with this particular novel, that's just the way the character is. The second half of the book is a non-stop page turner. It never lets up till the climax. This is a must read for anyone who has any intrest in Star Wars.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This is a brilliant book. It may be a little slow to start, but at the end it is sooooooooooo class! If it had twisted any more it would have broken. But then of course it's Star Wars, it can't be bad!
Rating: Summary: Luke the buffoon... Review: I was disturbed at Stackpole's take on the Jedi Academy. I haven't read many of the X-wing series as space combat given in such tedious detail is boring to me. I liked Corran's character for the most part and kind of liked the idea of different people having different strengths and weakness regarding their talent using the Force. The portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the book was terrible. Stackpole made him out to be an insecure and incompetent person until the very end. Stackpole seems to want to make the Jedi Academy into a military academy turning out Jedi cadets. It seems that an Jedi apprentice should find their own way through the Force with the guidence of their master. I did enjoy the book and I do hope to see Corran Horn in other SW novels just a little toned down a little bit.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF STACKPOLE'S HEAVY HITTERS! Review: I usually don't read Star Wars, but when I saw that Michael A. Stackpole had written an addition to his X-Wing character Corran, I just had to read it! Mike has a knack for building characters that you can easily identify to and enjoy reading about. Keept it up!
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE BEST! Review: I thought that this was one of the best Star Wars books written to date. Ever since reading the first four X-WING books, I knew they should expand on some of the characters, especially Corran. He is a very well rounded person, and he is written to be very real. Stackpole truly outdid himself with this book.
