Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book is a very good read. The reason i only gave it 4 stars, is i am comparingit too some of Weiss and Hickman's earlier work, which by far some of the greatest books ever written(Legends Saga). The Plot is ever moving. Really. The focus of the plot changes about 12 times in thsi book. Anybody who wants a good read, pick this up outta your local bookstore, or this freindly website. Its great. I also recommend The Recluce Saga, The Dark is Rising Sequence, and The Lord of the Rings series.
Rating: Summary: You'll love this book Review: An Extremely good book!A fine read. Startling topics shocking descriptions and a gripping storyline makes this book one of the best of the popular authours Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. If you didn't read the first volume of the War of Souls series you better!!
Rating: Summary: It is a good book. Review: It took me a day to read this book and it was worth wait. The revealing of the "One-God" made me feel stupid, the revealing of the "one-god" was so obvious....unfortunately that point didn't even occur to me, I should've known better. MW & TH do a commendale job on bringing back the series. I stopped reading Dragonlance books for some time cause the 5th Age series sucked. I'm glad that I have started reading this again and I can't wait for the next installment. I believe this series is on its way to redemption.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Weis/Hickman books ever Review: Ok, Dragons of a Lost Star is the last book in the main dragonlance story line (first Autumn Twilight then Winter Night then Spring Dawning then Time of the Twins then War of the Twins then Test of the Twins then Second Generation then Summer Flame then Fallen Sun and now we are on Lost Star) so if you have not read all the other books i highly suggest you do otherwise it will get confusing, Dragons of a Lost Star was excellent! I couldn't put the book down, one out of very few bad sides is Tasslehoff, he is becoming more and more annoying by the page, btu i don't think he'll survive the last book, another bad thing is the one god was very predictable i mean come on who wouldn't know who it is. I wouldn't say the fall of Qualinost, and i mean the fall in a literal sense, was a bad thing, it was quite depressing (don't read the next part if you don't want the book to be spoiled) especially with Laurana's death and the elven brothers betrayal of Medan (Medan's death wasn't so depressing because i really wasn't attached to him) but i think the the fall of Qualinost was very interesting and a nice twist. (once again keep skipping forward if you don't want the book to be ruined) Goldmoons death was also depressing, however you could tell she wouldn't survive the book because of the way she was acting. So i thoguht this was an excellent book and my prediction of the future, Dragons of a Vanishing Moon (due out April 2002) will be Weis and Hickmans final book in the dragonlance series (yes i know it's sad and we'll miss them very much) because seeing as how Tasslehoff is the only Hero of the Lance surviving and even he should be dead, which i believe will happen in the next book, the series will have i believe come to a full and complete run.
Rating: Summary: Suprisingly Good... Review: I was not overly thrilled with book I... it was kinda slow... but this one really got good!! The ending is very suprising... I cant wait for the next/last volume. This volume increased the charachter development far more than the first. It also advanced the storyline, bringing some suprising changes to the world of Krynn! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for the next one! Review: OK, I had my doubts after they ruined the world of krynn and got rid of magic and the gods in the chaos war. But then I saw dragons of a fallen sun and figured i would give dragonlance one last chance. It was worth it.I never expected fallen sun to be that good, and i think that lost star was even better. I couldn't believe it when they have that little passage at the end of book and then stoped. I mean who doesn't even guess that the dark figure is Raistlin? I say thank God they brought him back because he will make vanished moon imesureably better aand definitly worth the wait. Goldmoon's single minded, Ghost-hunting drive was boring, and the only thing that made that part worth reading was the gnome, who was pretty funny. Gerad actually was becoming a likeable charactor, what, with getting capturered by the knight of solmania and all. the identity of the one god was so predictable, and you should know what it is when you start reading the part about the distruction of the elves.Tasslehoff was his usual, intriging self and i am so glad they brought him back after killing him off! this is a must read for any fan of the old dragonlance becaue weis and hickman are repairing the world of krynn!
Rating: Summary: The Magic Has Returned! Review: ...P>I was excited to see and read the 4th official "Chronicle" and I loved the fact that they weren't AFRAID to wipe the slate clean.. What a rush and a terrible but awesome end. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Dragons of a Fallen Sun, and I must say, at the end of the book, I wasn't too sure about the way the thing was leading.. but that all became clear during the last chapter of Lost Star.. .. I agree to an extent that the "new" heroes are weaker and not as interesting as the originals, but how can you compare to Sturm, Tanis and Flint? They were the ultimate heros outside of Salvatore's Drizzt.. It's hard to beat them. Yes, you get to read somre more of Silvanoshei's whining (he's really annoying now) but there are some strong characters here, for one, Medan is interesting with the plot revolving around one of the best heroes to return - Laurana. I admit, I was thrilled to see Dalamar again, I really feel he wasn't explored enough in the original books, but now.. he's so sinister, so.. deprived, so hungry.. and interesting again. Palin never excited me too much, but you get inside his head a little, he's not such a pansy anymore. A W&H book would not be complete without their standard comical characters.. If you have followed their writings then you know.. From Fizban, to Simkin, to Zifnab others.. and of course, Tas is there, because no DL story could survive without Tas. Corrundum the gnome is also hilarious and true to gnomish ways. Personally, I really like the new cast, and I once again applaud W&F for not being afraid to kill off heroes.. they've done it before (Sturm, etc..) BTW, speaking of that.. there are portions of this book, I admit brought some tears.. If you loved the "Chronicles" heroes as much as I did, you'll be saddened by some of Laurana's memories and visions.. truly haunting.. You'll see why. I am glad the magic is back, and I can't wait for the next one. The ending of Lost Star just had me going.. NO!NO!.. Wow, it was powerful, because I really had no idea what the revelation was going to be, but it brought wicked smirk to my face as well. Here's looking towards Book #3!
Rating: Summary: EPIC STORY! Review: If you want epic, the Dragonlance stories by Weiss and Hickman are some of the best. This book hit all the high spots, great characters, epic battles, heroic deaths, dark magic, and a GREAT twist ending! I've read nearly all the Dragonlance books and I never saw that coming!
Rating: Summary: An entertaining read Review: Yes, so it's not exactly Tolkien, but then what is? As far as modern fantasy novels go, this has a great deal going for it. Magic, knights, dragons (obviously) and the backdrop of a world with an intricate (though somewhat confused and inconsistent) political system. This rates as one of the better dragonlance books and it is obvious how Weis and Hickman have matured as writers over the years since the Chronicles which, although engaging, often lacked direction. It is a shame that the Dragonlance series has become attached (or was born from) the game associated with adolescents and physics students as this has often made the novels overlooked in literary circles. This book has set up what could be a very interesting finale to the Souls trilogy and Weis/Hickman have shown that they own Krynn (the world it is set in) and that all the other authors of Dragonlance novels aren't worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down... Review: Weis and Hickman do it again... Another wonderful book with twists, turns, and an intriguing tale which makes you forget where you have to be and what you have to do.
