Summary: A superb read, a thrilling yarn of high adventure
Review: The first book of a new series, it shows a great deal of promise as a techno-thriller full of high adventure and derring do. Once more the Marines ride to the rescue in an all to possible future. The author has extrapolated very believable technology based on what we can do today. I look forward to many more in this series, and knowing the author, I expect no less than many hours of enjoyment.

Summary: Excellent story that built up by degrees
Review: The story was a bit slow at first and I mistakenly assumed that is was in the David Drake school of military SF. Boy was I wrong! It slowly built up bit by bit, each page began to tantalize with a new premise or a new idea. I can't wait for the sequels! I found myself booing the UN and wandering around muttering "Improvise! Persevere! Prevail!" I'm an old fan of SF and well read in the genre. This was a real delight and a top read for me in 1998!

Summary: God bless the Marine Corps
Review: This book may lack on some tactical details, but the Corps is the same as it was when I was a navy gunners mate on a patrol boat Riverine in the Mekong Delta, where Marines exposed themselves to fire to save a sailor trapped in the remains of a sinking boat. Bring on the sequels!!! God bless the Marine Corps!!!

Summary: About Marines for Marines.
Review: This book offers a great story line full of action and character development. The characters come alive and you feel like you are there with them through it all. It portays the Marine Corps in a light that no other auther has been able to come close to. It makes me feel good to be a Marine. I've been waiting for the second one so I can again be part of this awsome story.

Summary: About time!
Review: This book was great! Really good near term military science fiction is almost unheard of, but this book stands as one of the best I've had the pleasure of reading. The political sitution on earth has definitely changed in 40 years, but the plot is far from implausible. The book was extremely patriotic (OOH -RAH) and deserves to be. With all due respect, international readers probably didn't like it because they were opposite the "good guys" in the story. The Marine culture is presented fairly well here. I can only guess about this since I'm no a Marine, but I am very proud just being from the same country as the USMC. This book just added to that feeling as it showed how timeless Marine values really are. I suggest this book to anyone even remotely interested in the Corps, our future in space (that we'll live to see, rather than 100's of years from now), or military adventure. I just hope I don't pull my hair out waiting for the sequels. Semper Fi!

Summary: The best in an underrepresented genre
Review: This is by far one of the best books I've ever read. For anyone interested in a possible future of war and humankind read this book. It may not be the most technically accurate book available, but its definitely one of the most entertaining!

Summary: Outstanding Effort, Great Story
Review: This is probably the best military science ficition series I have ever read. Sure it's pro-Marines, that's fine, it's an outstanding series, with supberly written characters you "grow up" with. I highly recommend this series to anyone. Just be forwarned, towards the end, you're going to want to join the Marines. :)

Summary: This is one of the best books ive ever read.
Review: Though the politics are a bit streched the book has very realistic descriptions of space flight.
