Summary: Superbly written is an understatement
Review: From the moment I started this book I couldn't put it down. Zahn once again shows he can write the Star Wars Universe like no one else. He handles the multiple story lines so poetically. When I finished this book I was so antsy to get the sequel I could barely contain myself.

Zahn manages to take the characters he has created in his books (as well as those of other authors) and helps them grow. So many twists ans turn, classic Zahn. I didn't think anyone could write anything better then the Zahn trilogy for the Star Wars Universe, but Zahn has outdone himself.

Summary: Zahn Has Done It Again
Review: The Hand of Thrawn series is amazing. This book is great and anybody who reads it will instanly love it. I just finished this book and now reading the sequal of this book Vision of The Future. It wraps up loose ends that other novels leave and will leave you recovering from a blaster set on stun. The greatest Grand Admiral returns to wreak mayhem in the Star Wars galaxy so the New Republic thinks. I recommend this book very much and anyone who reads it will not be disapointed.

Summary: With no common enemy uniting them, peace is threatened.
Review: The New Republic is desperately trying to hold itself together. The Empire has been diminished to little more than an occasional annoyance. As peace settles in, old rivalries that were banished in the hope of creating a united front against the Empire are resurfacing. These old squabbles threaten to tear apart the fragile New Republic.

Leia and Han are struggling to hold their family and the Republic together before they are split at the seams. Now a new challenge surfaces. Grand Admiral Thrawn has resurfaced, making himself known to Lando, and requesting a message be taken to the New Republic. In addition, Luke has discovered the Empire has been using clones again. How did Thrawn escape death? Where is the Empire getting these new clones? Will the Republic be torn apart by petty rivalries?

Summary: Such an abrupt ending!
Review: I think this book could have been much more. The ending left quite a bit to be desired for as the story stops quite abruptly. In terms of the action and pace, this book is typical Zahn. It can be described like a marathon, the pace is fast and it goes on for a while.

Maybe Zahn is a better marketer than I thought since this book left me hunkering for more. This is a great series and the story is built up well.

Summary: Bre's
Review: Firstly, I must say that Zahn is the best Wars writer out there. He's not flawless, of course, but he certainly displays greater skill in this difficult genre than anyone else. The fact that he is the author is a good recommendation for the Hand of Thrawn dualogy. Once again we have the high quality writing, the well-handled plot lines, and good characterisations. It's great to see Mara once again under the pen of her creator. No one else - except maybe Stackpole - can get her quite right. Even better was the handling of Luke's bad habit of using the Force too much, though this has been seen as a virtue by some writers eg Mr Anderson. All in all, a great book.

Summary: Timothy Zahn proves he is a Jedi Master of s-f
Review: Brilliant! I give A++ to all of the Star Wars books by written by Timothy Zahn. He is a true Jedi Master of science-fiction writing, a giant clearly standing out among lesser authors. Quite often Star Wars novels are plagued by idiotic plots and even more idiotic details, like "freezing stars", etc. First of all, Zahn books are very intelligently written with believable plots and realistic characters. Even super-genius Thrawn makes mistakes, and super-hero Skywalker has his weaknesses. Second, the author did his homework in terms of details. Clearly, there is much more Science in Zahn's science-fiction when compared to other authors. Causes and effects are made-believable to a demanding reader. (There is only one small flaw: lack of air is not the only problem is space vacuum. First, a human being suddenly exposed to vacuum would instantly "explode" because of uncompensated pressure of gases dissolved in blood and tissues. Second, the exploding blood would almost instantly freeze because of two factors: zero external pressure and near absolute zero temperature of space. Not a pretty picture, unless Skywalker can use Force to keep an air bubble around himself :) Not bad, however, considering that even Kubrick and Clarke made the same mistake in "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Mr. Zahn, we crave for more books from you! What is going to happen after Vision of the Future? May I offer my free services as a scientific consultant to the next novel?

Summary: A great book!
Review: This book is great, but the returning of Grand Admiral Thrawn is not very good. It would be more interesting if he was cloned or something. Remeber to read Vision of the future, too, the conclusion of this Hand of Thrawn Duology. I haven't read Timothy Zahn's first Thrawn Trilogy yet, but I am going to start on Heir To the Empire soon.

All Star Wars fans MUST read this book!

Summary: Zahn delivers yet again with another episode in Star Wars...
Review: Get another taste of Timothy Zahn's excellent contributions to the Star Wars universe with Specter of the Past. Be sure to also pick up Vision of the Future, the second book in this 2-part series, so you can read back-to-back without skipping a beat. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Summary: Make sure you own both books of the set!
Review: Once again, Timothy Zhan has my full attention. I unfortunately didn't realize this was a two book set. It isn't written on the cover or back of my paperback. So now..I am stuck waiting for the second half of what has up to this point been a fabulous story! It seems Zhan is aware of the fact that most of his readers are familiar with the star wars world, and wastes little time over-describing a bush from a remote world or the subtle difference between the eylashes of two members of the same alien species. While Character developement is nice, I find that too many of the star wars novels I read spend more time describing little, interesting to know, but unimportant things than giving me the epic action I crave. Not Zhan. If you are like me, buy these books, and the Heir to the Empire series. You won't be dissapointed! =Þ

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Superb
Review: Zahn's done it again in this novel, producing quality Star Wars stories consistent with the movies, other novels and general theme of Star Wars. The setting is brilliant, and the character of Pellaeon is portrayed brilliantly. One of the best Star Wars books, if you keep up with SW, buy it.
