Summary: this is actually the most unrealistc....
Review: worse than zahn's original trilogy. He refers TOO MUCH to his thrawn trilogy. IF you meet and Imperial Royal Guard , what would be the first question you ask him :

A)How did you allow thrawn to be killed.

b)why did'nt you die on the second deathstar?

c) how did you survive the destruction of Byss and survived the assasination attempts by Carnor Jax. (as seen in Dark Empire and Crimson Empire)

As usual , Zahn refers to his own work first. All the charecters remeber the events in the thrawn trilogy as if it were yesterday , not TEN years ago!! And all the charecters are back to what they where (i.e Mara , karrde , leia ), as if Zahn said "i dont like what the other authors did so ill pretend it never happened" , and the Camaas thing is so unrealistic. I know!!! I 'll make a note and hide it saying that a group of (insert race here) inspired Hitler to take command of germany and start World War II !.Now everyone will rebel and take up arms. yeah sure. A very bad book.

Summary: Thank the Force for Zahn!
Review: Star Wars writers like Zahn have the quality and the magic to bring the Star Wars galaxy back to life. His books and magnificent style of writing almost want to make you even forgive Kevin J. Anderson over his many mistake*. Well ... almost.

*1. Destroying the character and integrity of Mara Jade by making her seem two-dimensional and making her have an intrest in Lando (YUUCK!). 2. Darksaber. The Imperial's are not that pathetic, and neither are the Hutts. And puh-lease, like Mara would pay attention to that selfish pig ... er, uh, Callista (she needs a reality check! Luke's too good for her if she can't recognize him as a man instead of some flimsy Force powers).

3. By making the son of Han Solo, Jacen Solo, turn into an utter geek. And for the whole Junior Jedi Knights thing.

Can't wait till Visions of the Future!!!

Summary: Zahn's triumphant return to the Star Wars universe
Review: A superb novelist, Zahn once again weaves an intricate and thoroughly engrossing tale worthy of the Star Wars legacy. The first couple chapters are a bit slow--reacquainting the reader with characters from the previous series--but once the dissenion amid the ranks of the New Republic begins, the book begins to pick up it's pace nicely. I really apprieciated the fact that the Empire was not building ANOTHER super weapon (i.e. a Death Star Prototype, a Sun Crusher, a Galaxy Gun, etc., to name a few of the cheesier dangers "threatening to tear the New Republic apart" which appeared in other, less eloquent SW novels.) And I also enjoyed Admiral Pellaeon's character much more than in the previous books: here we have a man who, realizing the inevitable decline of the Empire, desires to join the New Republic (which, in the meantime, is falling apart internally). But he does this because he's loyal to the Empire, and believes this to be in the Empire's best interests.! We can almost see the ghost of the REAL Grand Admiral Thrawn standing beside him. (I'd be willing to bet money that, in the next book, Pellaeon joins the New Republic only to help save it from the other discordant factors of the Empire). I also enjoyed the amazing suspence Zahn created by sending Mara off after that enigmatic spacecraft onto a barren, unexplored world. Good, spine-tingling stuff! My only real complaint with the book is the fact that Zahn is forced to constantly link Spector with previous (and in my humble opinion) lesser works by other authors who have dabbled in the SW universe. I haven't read all of these other novels, and some of the things he mentioned were a bit confusing as a result. But on a whole, this is one of his best efforts yet. Truly a remarkable read.

Summary: The best book in the Star Wars series so far!
Review: I loved this book! Zahn has created a plot so complex you can't even guess what might happen. He brought back all our favorite characters, especially Mara Jade! The idea of her and Luke together is terrific. The only problem I have is that I must wait a whole year for the sequel. Hurry up, Zahn!!

Summary: The latest super-exciting novel in the Star Wars series!
Review: Put simply, I loved this book! It is yet another Star Wars masterpiece by Timothy Zahn, the bestselling author of Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. It is full of the adventure, excitement, suspense, and the dash of romance that make SW books enjoyable. Specter of the Past continues to develop the story of our the New Republic, Empire, and everyone's favorite SW characters. The story is set about fifteen years after Return of the Jedi. The Empire has dwindled to almost nothing, controlling a small handful of systems in the galaxy. However, the New Republic begins to fall victim to the success that it has been enjoying. While some Imperials wish to make a peace treaty with the New Republic, others are working to make it destroy itself from internal conflict. What's worse is there are rumors that Grand Admiral Thrawn, the most ruthless warlord in the history of the Empire and presumed dead for a decade, is alive. Read to find out the fat! ! e of the New Republic and the Empire. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I can't read wait to read the sequel, Vision of the Future, being released in September '98. If you've enjoyed other novels by Timothy Zahn, I strongly recommend that you read this one.

Summary: well thought out and put together
Review: A story that spreads the focus off of one character, giving everyone equal spotlight time though. I am pleased that there is the remote possibility that Luke Skywalker may possibly even have some one for himself now. I can really sympathize with him feeling like an outsider, even in his own family. Hopefully the sequal will give us Visions of the Future.

Summary: Way better then all the other writers together!
Review: I was so happy to hear that Zahn was writing another series of books for Star Wars. After some of the cheesy stuff that had been coming out lately, from the almost childish (The Crystal Star), to the "Super Weapon of the week" books (Darksaber, Jedi Academy, Children of the Jedi), it was nice to see a quality book again. And what the other writers did to Mara! They just destroyed her personality! Almost an insult to Zahn. Thank goodness we got away from that Lando and Mara mess! Timothy Zahn truly captures the spirit of the movies, the original charcters. Although I thought that Pelleaon should have had a more substantial role (I find him much more interesting then the Moff and his *crew*), and that it was a little slow to get going, it is still a great book, and way better then all the other Star Wars books, excepting the Heir to the Empire trilogy. Definatly a great book!

Summary: This book opens up a whole new star wars saga.
Review: This is an exellent opening for a new era in star wars books. It has started to look at the relationship between mara jade and luke as well as letting us see other charters out of the past star wars books. This is a book you need to read.

Summary: Try the Dark Empire
Review: This book is pretty good. If Zahn likes to bring dead characters back though he should do somthing off the Dark Empire Comic trilogy
