Summary: A pretty good Star Wars book
Review: This trilogy is not as bad as the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy, but it just seems too mundane when compared to Zahn's books or Anderson's other book, Darksaber. However, it is useful in the sense that it is the only way that you can get the background for the other Star Wars books

Summary: An unworthy successor ...
Review: Rather than follow the Zahn trilogy with another strong offering, it seems that the powers that be offered us a lame effort by a man who writes as if his target audience is composed solely of young teenagers. It didn't take me too long to become frustrated with "Jedi Search" and realize that this series was going to be a great disappointment when compared to its predecessor.

Many of the best characters from the Zahn books, especially Mara Jade, are either mischaracterized, forgotten or used merely as tokens. Even the movie characters such as Luke are mistreated as he is portrayed as embarrasingly incompetent at times The humor, jokes and irony are written strictly for the younger set and will leave readers with any maturity shaking their head in disbelief that the book made it past Lucasfilm's editors. The (largely two-dimensional) plot devices are mainly dead dark Jedi and overwrought superweapons of unrealistic capabilities. Gone is any pretense at guile, subtletly and cleverness.

I'm guessing that the leadership at Lucasfilm that authorized Kevin J. Anderson to write this book and subsequently signed off on the final results figured that anything with "Star Wars" on the cover would sell fabulously. In actuality, sales figures for all the novels following the Zahn trilogy have never come close and KJA's juvenile effort is largely to blame for turning thoughtful fans off. It has taken years and numerous books by vastly superior authors to correct the mess this unthinking hack had created out of the Star Wars story line.

Summary: A great start to a great trilogy!!!
Review: This book was great, in that it laid the foundation for the next two books of the trilogy very nicely. If you are a Star Wars fan, get the Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn and then get this trilogy. You won't regret it! And to all of the people who are bent out of shape about Luke starting a Jedi Academy: First of all, this is how it was done thousands of years before. The only reason Luke trained with Yoda by himself is simply because there were no other known Jedi at the time. Sure, training each Jedi one-by-one would have given each more attention, I have no problem with Luke training them at an academy. It was the only way for Luke to set up a Jedi core of the New Republic quickly. Anyone who has a problem with this should open up their minds a bit more and should just go with the flow. I'd like to see them write a better Star Wars novel.

Review: I loved this book! Fans who have read Darksaber I suggest you read this trilogy!

Summary: At least as good a Zahn
Review: I enjoyed this book!!! This book avoids a problem that slows down SW books sometimes F-L-O-W. In fact it flows better than even the first Zahn Trilogy book. Don't get me wrong Zahn fans I enjoyed the Zahn Trilogy but at times his books were choppy. In Jedi Search by the time you realize your on page 200 of the book you can't believe you read that much so fast and don't want the book to end. I can't believe some people hated this book so much. I don't understand it at all?? I have read about 15 or so SW books and this is one is at the top of my list along with the Han Solo Trilogy (the New one), and a few others. Some people complained that Luke became a master so fast. But to that I say <<<<How many more books do we have to see Luke the Bad-a@# Jedi be a wuss for, before he can finally have the Kick-a&% power we as the reader want him to have>>>> A big problem in other SW books is that they make Luke a wimp (sometimes struggling to lift simple objects, etc, etc). This book finally solves that problem giving Luke the power he should have. I loved when Luke willed himself accross the fire lava, a true Jedi should be able to do that. Also people complained that Anderson should have used more of the Zahn Characters such as Mara Jade and Talon Karade. I somewhat agree with them, but we need to realize that Anderson is not Zahn and he wants to create and explore his own new characters, as any creative writer should. We are introduced to some cool cats like Streen, Gantoris, and Kyp Durron. All and all this was a great book, and if you can't decide weather to read it cause some negative reviews. My advice is go to your local library and read it for youself, or buy it and read it.....TRUST ME you will enjoy it!!!!!

Summary: One of the best Star Wars books I have read!
Review: I really liked this book. I liked the part about the Maw installation best. Qwi Xux added a lot to the book. She steered it away from a typical Star Wars "bad guy, good guy" routine. Too many books get into that cycle. I also liked how you get to meet the twins of Han and Leia for the first time. Kids are always a welcome addition to a book. Anyway, I think this is another success by Kevin J. Anderson.

Summary: it's an ok book. certainly not the greatest STAR WARS book.
Review: It was OK but some things were just lame. Take for example that when Han, Chewie, and Kyp are flying through the Maw, Han says "Only a complete idiot would try something like this" and then Kyp said "Let's just hope these guys aren't idiots too!" Then, later in the book when Lando and Luke are trying to get away from Kessel through the Maw, right before they go in Lando says "Only a complete idiot would go into a place like that." Which is just like what Han had said earlier. Luke replies with "Let's just hope their not idiots too." Which is also just like what Kyp had said in reply to Han earlier in the book. Like I said, It's OK but it's definately not the best book about STAR WARS.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Suspensful, Good Storyline, True to the characters
Review: Anderson has done a fine job of continuing the story. He remains true to the characters in their personalites and takes you a step further. His plot answers some old questions that one may have encountered from the original Star Wars trilogy (although sometimes he does refer to the original trilogy a little too much). It's easy reading and if your a casual Star Wars fan who just wants to know a little more about everything then I recommend this book.
