Summary: Anderson and Dr. Faustus are birds of a feather.
Review: Anderson wrote these in worship of the almighty dollar. Sure he may rationalize it as being because of his love for the movies, but this is realy written for the green gods. You see Anderson is a hack. If he had any literary ambitions he would at least try to write more original stories than media novels. That's the reason this novel is poorly plotted, with cardboard characters

Summary: Not the best but stell a good read
Review: "Han leaped on the man, punching him again and again in the chest and stomach, cracking his knuckles on the scuffed stormtrooper armor." This book is full of action and excitement, along with lots of humor. Jedi Search takes place seven years after the Return of the Jedi. Han and Leia have three children, Jacen, and Jaina who are two years old, and baby Anakin. Luke has started his search for force sensitive people to train for a new order of Jedi knights. Jedi Search, has a lot of description in it,which makes for a very good visual picture. The only problem is the further into the book you go the fewer details there are. It also has places where sentences contradict each other, which can confuse the reader. Comparing this book to other Star Wars novels, the book has a weak plot. The characters are put into one situation, and when they just get out that situation, are put back in it. This happens over and over throughout the book. The best part I like about the book is the humor. Throughout the book people are constantly making jokes and having fun even in the toughest situations. For example,"Hey, how about ponting out some land marks, Skynxnex? What kind of tour is this any way?" Han said after his capture.

Summary: Ech.
Review: I was so looking forward to this book. I've read most of the others since, but these ones are still near the bottom of my favorites list. The writing seems shallow and rounded, not the sharpness that Zahn brought to the feild. And what's with the characters always repeating their lines from the movies? Prehaps a good book on its own, but in the context of Star Wars, not the best told story.

Summary: Read Dark Empire first.
Review: Many readers complain that Anderson refers to many events that never occured in the trilogy or any other book, such as the resurected Emperor and Luke learning secrets of the Dark side. These events are described in the Dark Empire comic book series which is available in trade paperback. Read it first. Or instead if this one. It's actually much better.

Summary: What is missing?
Review: I have to place blame partly on Bantham Spectra and Kevin J. Anderson for the awkwardness of this book. It is my understanding that the individual authors of each book in the "expanded Star Wars Universe" are supposed to read all the previous published novels and make their book fit in to the rest of the story line. This book does not do that. There are things mentioned in this book that have not appeared in any book previous in the time line. Who is the resurrected Emperor? What are the World Devestator Machines? When did Luke turn to the Dark Side? Why are these things being brought into this book when the information has not appeared in any of the other Star Wars Novels? The character development in the book is decent. There is no indication that the twins even have the force? Zahn did a great job of describing the beginnings of the twins with great descriptions of the way Leia handled her small abilities with the force to calm them. Now, it appears she has forgotten everything she has learned of and with the force... Luke is still a mighty character (as he should be) but I don't like how he doubts himself in many cases.

Anderson is a good writer - that is to say his style is exceptional. The major drawback is definitely the fact that many elements of the book just do not coincide with what we already know about the Star Wars universe.

Summary: Almost the worst
Review: The best thing I can say about Anderson's novels is that there are even worse Star Wars books out there (i.e. the Corellian and Black Fleet trilogies.) While the anthologies that Anderson edits are good, as a novelist he is horrible- his books are pulp fiction at its worse. Like his other SW novels, Jedi Search has bad plotlines and bad writing; I can only hope that at some time in the future George Lucas will command "special editions" of many of the books he has allowed to be published, with the intended market segment being all of us Star Wars fans who can read without having to move their lips.

Summary: Where is Mara?
Review: i bought this book after reading Zahn's trilogy, looking for a continuation of his plot...but instead I found this. Could anyone let me know about this "resurrection of the Emperor" that has Luke's eyes so haunted? What book comes between Zahn's "Last Command" and this one? The only reason why I am suffering through these books, is to fully understand Zahn's "Spector of the Past" and "Vision of the Future." Unless you are reading KJA's trilogy for the same reason--Do Not read these books! Read Zahn's!

Summary: This is a great book!
Review: It was wonderful! It shows how Han Solo can never be anything but a "scruffy-looking" pilot always getting himself in trouble and when he finally thinks he's in the clear, he justs ends up in more trouble. Leia gets worried and its Luke Skywalker to the rescue. A wonderful description of how Han Solo can never get away from smuggling.

Summary: New Readers, give me a break
Review: To all those who recently read Kevin Anderson's Jedi Academy trilogy and decided to tear it apart, I want to remind you; these are 5 years old. These books were in the beginning when the Star Wars universe became part of the Sci-Fi literature. I'm glad you've read the latest, but chewing up someone's work is wrong, especially when they didn't have the rich new background books have now to work with. Heck, Anderson created part of that background.
