Summary: A Rather Depressing View of the Star Wars Universe
Review: This book marks the opening of a trilogy that should be left on the shelf to gather dust. The characters that we've come to love in Zahn and The original Star Wars Trilogy, are virtually unrecognizeable. KJA goes way over the top with not one, but 2 superweapons!!! Not only that, his villian, Adm. Daala is a worthless, incompitant Admiral to say the least. KJA overuses the powers of the jedi to do impossible feats. This book is dumb, boring, and completely uninteresting. Don't waiste your time on this one, or any of the other in the series for that matter. If you're looking for a good author who captures the flare of SW, go buy all of Zahn's books, he's the only one who has the right feel.

Summary: I loved it!
Review: Kevin Anderson is the best Star Wars author. He made excellent character development and the idea of Luke's Jedi Academy is superb. It was about time that happened. I love this book

Summary: They don't get much better than this
Review: This book was so cool! It is one of the Star Wars novels I have ever read! For anyone that likes Star Wars, I recommend this book to you.

Summary: Pretty good, sets the story for the next two
Review: Jedi Search is kind of slow. Anderson is a good author though, as proved in the next two and Darksaber. This book spends waaay too much time developing everything in prep for the cliffhanger plot of the next one and the finale of the last one. The reason why I bought this book is because of the cover. However, this is cruical in understanding everything that follows. After all, this book is worth it because of Dark Apprentice and Champions of the Force.

Summary: Avoid at all costs. Your time is too precious to waste.
Review: Kevin J. Anderson proves abundantly why his books are reviled by the Star Wars fan community. Everything Anderson attempts to write comes across as being unoriginal and a rip-off of some other part of the Star Wars saga. The Imperial Admiral, out of touch with the fallen Empire (Daala as compared to Thrawn), the superweapon (the Death Star prototype), Luke on some bizarre Jedi spiritquest. All these elements might work in a more skilled writer's hands, such as Timothy Zahn's, but in Anderson's prose the ideas fall flat. I would recommend staying away from the Jedi Academy trilogy, but unfortunately, the trilogy is the keystone of the Star Wars novels that follow, more so that Timothy Zahn's trilogy. Take my advise, get a friend that suffered through these novels to summarize them for you and then move on. You'll feel better in the end.

Summary: A great audio for any Trilogy Fan
Review: Jedi Search is a great addition to the audio books, which are now growing in popularity. The book focuses on the particular adventures of the classic characters of the recently re-released movie spectacular, Star Wars. The story takes place awhile after the final video addition "Return of the Jedi". The New Republic has beaten back the Empire to the edges of the vast galaxy, and are now trying to organize the destruction created by the Imperial Forces. But as they find out, the Empire and other forces are not gone yet.

I think one of the things that kept this story interesting was the way Kevin J. Anderson would switch back and forth between the different missions and mishaps of the main characters. Also, how the different storylines converged at the conclusion of the story, was a true example of a creative plot.

The sound effects and the voice of Anthony Herald added a delightful addition to the "picture" the words and descriptions of Kevin J. Anderson could paint in your mind. From the beeps of the excited droid Artoo Deetoo(R2-D2) or the spine-tingling tinkering of the spider creature on Kessel's legs, each sound added that one missing part of a book when you read it visually. When reading a book, the only sense you use is sight, and the wide variety of the sounds in this tale made me realize what you miss out on when only read a story. Also, I think Anthony Herald was the perfect choice to narrate the book. His voice did an excellent job of foreshadowing the events of the story.

This book is a perfect addition to any Star Wars fan's growing collection of Star War's literature. I only hope the sequels are as well composed as this one.
