Summary: Um...I don't think so KJA...
Review: This book wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either. Some of the characters were unbelievable IDIOTS and about as un- Star Wars as possible (Moruth Doole and the incompetent Daala). I liked the Kessel idea and Eol Sha, that volcanic place Gantoris came from. But TWO SUPERWEAPONS and Umgulian BLOB races???!!! I know KJA can do better than this!! And he proves it with his sequels to this one. Read them, they pretty much explain what happened in this book...

Summary: This book is great!!!!!!
Review: If you are a big Star Wars fan read this book! I don't understand why all these people kept saying the book was bad. It was great, especially Admiral Daala (a woman Imperial at last). Read it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: The Force wasn't with Kevin J. Anderson
Review: Let's face it; the vast majority of Star Wars novels released in recent years have been disappointing. It sometimes seems as if the Star Wars license has become a haven for writers whose work would otherwise be unpublishable. Kevin J. Anderson has given us a prime example of this with "Jedi Search."

For starters, the characters created by George Lucas whom we've all come to know and love are not well represented in "Jedi Search." Anderson depicts Lucas's exciting and dynamic characters as hollow automatons. All the regulars are present, but you can hardly recognize them. And the new characters created by Anderson are derivative and unilateral.

Add to that Anderson's unimaginative and hopelessly predictable plot. The trademark of an unoriginal Star Wars story is the appearance of a new doomsday weapon, and Anderson provides not one, but two! Frankly, I thought the doomsday weapon motif was old when Lucas recycled it for "Return of the Jedi," and now it almost seems laughable.

As I said before, the plot is much too predictable. If you make a plausible guess as to what will happen next, you'll find yourself right more often than you might think. I'll list a couple examples from "Jedi Search's" initial chapters. Example one: Luke needs to find a way to test for Force ability in others. Guess what he finds in the next chapter. Example two: Han and Leia need to find someone with gambling connections. Guess who shows up at the Rebel base looking for employment. Example three: Luke begins his quest for Force attuned candidates for his academy. How long do you think it will take him to find some? If you're paying attention at all, you'll be able to guess who has Force ability long before Luke does. I could go on, but you get the idea by now, and I don't want to spoil the later plot developments for those who do read "Jedi Search." (Although you really don't need me for that!)

I don't hate everything Anderson writes. I actually liked a couple of the short stories he wrote for the "Tales of..." books. But his writing doesn't seem to do work as a novel or when he is dealing with pre-established characters. This novel gives the impression of being quickly written and under-edited. Whether this is the fault of the writer, the publisher, or some combination of the two, I am not sure. As the Jedi Academy trilogy progresses, the story does improve, but I still caution Star Wars fans to avoid this series. If you've got a craving for a thoughtful, well-written Star Wars novel, I'd like to take this opportunity to direct you "Heir to the Empire," by Timothy Zahn, which is indeed the antithesis of "Jedi Search" in that in every place Anderson comes up short in "Jedi Search," Zahn delivers magnificently.

Summary: CORNY,CHEASY,REALLY LAME
Review: Let me put like this:the lacky Admiral Daala is nothing more than a cheap shot sl*t who got up in the ranks by sleeping with Grand Moff Tarkin ,which only proves her stupidity.Lando is a useless character, and Luke and Leia (and not to mention the kids)are poorly written.

Summary: Truly Star Wars at its best! One of the best SW books ever.
Review: Jedi Search was the very first SW novel I read and WOW! It astounded me! It starts out kinda dull but keep going for a couple of chapters and you can't put it down. KJA's story never has a dull moment or slip up that affects the plot. Truly KJA has outdone himself in a tale worthy of being A Star Wars novel.

Summary: A GREAT READ!! TRUE STAR WARS
Review: This was one of the firdt books I read and I was impressed. Everything that's going on is full of action. I think the idea of a secret Imp operation in the Maw is cool. I've read better, but the others aren't much better.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good! ;Great ending !!!
Review: I just finished reading Jedi Search and I thought it was a very intereting book. The beginning went straight into's Han's crash on Kessel. It also heads strsight into Luke's plan's for the Jedi academy.

The plots are also very intriguing. Ther's one where scene when Han escapes from Kessel only to be bombarded by Kessel's defenses, which chases them into a group of black holes known as the Maw and as if their luck wasn't bad enough at the center of the they meet an Imperial fleet consisting of 4 Imperial class destroyers and the Sun Crusher, and a prototype of the death star.

I don't understand why some of th reviewers gave this book ons star. But I guess everyone is entitled to theier opinion.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Review: ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF STAR WARS AT IT'S BEST. IT WAS A LITTLE SLOW AT FIRST BUT ONCE YOU GET A FEW CHAPTERS IN IT IS GREAT!!! READ THIS AND THE OTHER 2; DARK APPRIENTICE AND CHAMPIONS OF THE FORCE.
