Summary: The Art of Science
Review: What makes Koontz such a great author is the fact that his science fiction is not-so-fiction. He is dealing with the "Here and Now", and not any far away blury future. His books are always dealing with things that are on the edge of science, and most scientist ignore: Aliens, Time-Travel, Extra-Smart Animals, Clonning, Brain-Control experiments and so on. However, even though they are on the edge of the science, on the border between real and fiction, they are still a part of our everyday scientific discussion. What makes such book important is that they bring to the mind of the people another way of using things, that one day would become a part of the scientific "Main Stream" (Like clonning is today.), and it's warning the public that there is always the possibility of bad use in the scientific power. The science, in its ever-on struggle to discover, would tell us the benefits of a given discovery, but not the bad things, and that's what Koontz is doing.

As it comes to this book, it is a truly great book. Nazies are always a great subject to write about, and Koontz is making the most original use thatI've ever seen in this subject. It is an interesting, thrilling and fun book.

Summary: His Best by Far!
Review: Easily the best Koontz book out there. I am not a SF reader so this was a cahllenge for me to pick up but once I did I called in sick to work and stayed home to finish it in one sitting. The explanations of sci-fi stuff in the book being done by a child are brilliant! More action and drama from page one than I have seen since... "The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed." Read several of his books, some are quite good but none are this good.

Summary: Can lightning strike more than once?
Review: Here's a hauntingly unforgettable novel about destiny. This spellbinder is impossible to put down. It is carefully structured and crafted by a master of characterization and suspense.

Laura Shane begins life on a stormy night when the weather is so odd that folks will remember it for years to come. A stranger appears to save her from the drunken doctor who would have crippled her for life had he been left to his own resources. As years go by she is plagued by troubles that seem to control her destiny but she overcomes adversities, sometimes with the help of a stranger that she begins to think of as her special guardian. But is this guardian an angel or a devil?

She will find the answer to her question on the night of her 30th birthday when the guardian again appears, this time needing her help. What she learns will but her in greater danger than ever before, shattering her life and that of her son.

This book is an absolute MUST for science fiction devotees and everyone else. I'm not a fan of science fiction but I sure am of this book.

Summary: Cinderella Koontz
Review: This book rates the one star solely for Koontz's typically appealing characters.

At his worst, Koontz writes real people as fairy-tale characters, and this was the book that started that unfortunate trend. It isn't uncommon for him to have a Cinderella character in his pages, or even sometimes two - people who start out impoverished, and become rich and/or famous. In Lightning, Koontz really pushes the envelope. Everyone in it comes from awful childhoods and rises to impossibly successful ends. Two of the main characters, including the heroine, start in an abusive orphanage, and end up becoming a nationally famous comedienne and movie star, and a bestselling novelist. Their charted road of progress toward these unbelievable ends is, well...unbelievable. To the point where it is often laugh-out-loud funny. Since the book is not intended to be a comedy, this can safely be said not to be a good thing.

Additionally, the plot is more than usually extravagant and problematic - its outlook on WWII, especially, simplistic and unrealistic - and the action even more over-the-top than Koontz generally attempts, and it all really doesn't quite come off.

For all their gross improbability, the characters are at least as likeable as any found in the author's other books, and those looking for Koontz's satisfying easy-read thriller style won't be disappointed, either.

If you want a Disney fantasy, this is the book for you. If you want something a little more challenging, try one of Dean's many, many better books.

Summary: Good book but not what I was expecting!
Review: Very interesting twist but ofcourse, Dean Koontz is well known for interesting twists but this one didn't quite live up to the expectations set in the beginning of the book.

Summary: Awesome, gripping suspense!
Review: This story was amazing. I agree with others who say that this is one of Koontz's best works. It may be a little complex for some readers, because some of its concepts are not very easy to grasp, so reader BEWARE. If you don't like a book that makes you think a little, then this is NOT the book for you. Otherwise, it is a challenging, suspenseful, beautiful novel with well-drawn characters and an intriguing plot. I also recommend Phantoms (my personal favorite, and first Koontz book), Intensity, Watchers, and The Voice of the Night.

Summary: Thank You Dean Koontz!
Review: Lightening is a fast paced, intense read. I have found that out of the years of reading, I still return to Lightening. Thank You Dean Koontz for not only writing Lightening, but for sharing with us Strangers, From the Corner of his Eye, Phantoms, the Oddkins and much much more.

Review: I am really into time travel. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from page one.

Summary: A Page Turner
Review: Lightning, by Dean Koontz, is an amazing thriller that captivates the reader. The book is very fast paced and intriguing. The characters are very realistic and do not have bland personalities. Laura, the main character, comes off as a very determined and funny woman. All the characters are lively and believable. There are a few scenes that stick out the most in the book. If you have not read the book, I advise not reading anymore or this review. When Laura is a child and is at her father's store a man comes in and robs the store. He also intends to rape Laura in the stock room but before he can do anything, Stephen, a character not known at this point, kills the robber. He then makes a believable story about how there were two robbers and they got into an argument and one shot the other and fled. The next scene that stuck out in my memory was when Laura's husband, Danny, dies. This is memorable because it is so unexpected and you expect Stephen to save them, but he cannot. The last scene that sticks out in my memory is the end of the book when Stephen and Laura become romantically involved. This adds a happy ending to the book because the reader is not sure if they will be together. I recommend this book to any person in need of a good story.
