Summary: Leia is very out of character
Review: I must say that I agree totally with dantm from New Jersey. Leia is totally out of character. yes, you might want to say that she and han had a shaky relationship from the start but I mean really, she loved han the whole time even if she didn't want to admit it. Isolder is defanately not Leia's type. and Han just buys a planet(a planet? you just dont go around buying and selling planets) and it happens to be filled with a bunch of force strong witches and while the emporer was on his great jedi hunt he didn't sense this whole planet filled with force strong people(I mean it wasn't just one, it was a whole planet full) You can see from the phantom menace that anakin/vader would have been strong enough to find this planet and senator/chanceller/emperor Palpatine could hide himself on Coroscant without anyone in the council detecting him(what I mean is that this would prove his force strength) The ending was pretty good though. Han and leia finally get married and Isolder marries the right person for him(who I might add would make a good queen)

Review: I like the strange places like Coruscant.. casinos ages old..playing cards for entire planets....worlds and travels.. kidnappings.. offworld jungles. Lots of great action! Dave Wolverton even has a good romance story in this book.

If your a StarWars fan, READ THE BOOK!

Summary: Witches, Rancors, and Warlords, oh my
Review: If you can accept some of the more outlandish places, people, and things that Dave Wolverton created to exist in the Star Wars Universe, this is a good book.

If you have trouble with... 1) an incredibly wealthy, well-armed government that was left alone by the Empire

and

2) a planet with a large number of force-sensitives, including many which could rival the Emperor in their lust for power that were not hunted down...

then you are going to have problems with this book.

I am of the latter mind. Both items seem to be something the Emperor would have attempted to conquer or destroy. The fact that the Witches of Dathomir were able to beat Jedi 400 years earlier is also far-fetched.

And continuing in the far-fetched vein, the actions of Leia are nearly irreconciable with what we have seen in the movies. She is a woman of conviction and passion. If she fell in love with Han, there would be no turning away to another suitor no matter how politically expedient.

Zsinj, as the villain, was nearly a comic opera buffoon as his personality was further developed only with the release of the Wraith Squadron books a few years later.

Despite these misgivings, I see the characters of Isolder and Teneniel Djo having some depth and I think some of Wolverton's descriptions of the light side of the force as the best that have been written.

Summary: I hate this book!
Review: By far the worst and most uncharacteristic of all the SWnovels. The very thought that Leia would dump Han like a sack ofpotatos the second a seemingly 'perfect' guy came along and wanted to play footsie make my stomach turn! The perfect guy! C'mon, It's Harrison Ford we're talking about here! And let's not even discuss the planet of women who keep men as thier slaves. It's fine if Mr. Wolverton wants to write about his perverse sexual fantasies but a) I wish he'd keep them out of the Star Wars universe and b) he should really try to achieve some sort of better understanding of the way women think and act before attempting to write a novel about them. What I was hoping for from this book was a beatiful romantic epic with echoes of Han and Leia relationship in ESB, what I got was this misoginistic trash. No thank you.

Summary: The best of the SW books!
Review: I have read several of the Star Wars books that have come out over the years and this one was head and shoulders above the rest. It would be great if they made this one into a movie. The book is vividly written and keeps you interest to the point that I didn't want to put it down. I sent a copy of it to a friend and she read it in one night. And then she read it again a couple of days later. I read it again last year and I just can't get our how well written it is. Dave Woverton conjures up images that stick with you. This one is definately a keeper!

Summary: From a tiny outpost on the rim...
Review: This is an awsome book! It's non-stop action from the very begining. This is the first book where we get to see Luke's real power start surfacing. I loved the plot and the story line. It kept me in suspence the whole time. I couldn't put it down!

A must read..!

Summary: Nothing Beter than Laya
Review: Imagine yourself with the most beautiful girl/guy you have ever seen. This is what laya faces when Han fights for her against a very handsom prince. Han buys laya a planet only to find it inhabited by amazon whiches rancors and a Dark which base

Summary: my favorite SW book
Review: This is STILL my favorite Star Wars book, even with all the great novels that have come since. Leia is prominently featured, and it's good (if nail-biting, excruciating, TORMENTING) to know that her relationship with Han has not always been perfect -- this is actually very consistant with the movies -- think of their early acerbic encounters. Not only so we get fun with Leia and Han in this book but Rancors (ever wonder where they come from?), witches and cool Amazon-like women with lots of power and lizard-skin armor (remniscent of something from Xena). This book is also the funniest of the SW novels -- watch for Leia's comment on Han's pants (and I must say I couldn't agree with her more...)

Summary: An Extension of the Movies
Review: This is an excellent book that captures the feel of the Star Wars Movies. Dathomir is a wonderful setting, and the witches there are perfect allies, and enemies. Far better than anything Stackpole writes, with the possible exceptions of Dark Tide.
