Rating: Summary: Among the Best! Review: I've just started reading the various "Star Wars" novels that are available, and this stands out as one of the best so far, *almost* on the same level as Zahn's trilogy. It's certainly better than that "Shadows of the Empire" tripe. I was afraid that this would turn out to be some sort of "Star-Wars-goes-Harlequin-Romance" book, but I found myself very surprised by the way Wolverton's tale drew me in. Perry's novel, by contrast, just bored me to tears. This book is about 4 years old now, and it would be nice to see Wolverton pen another "Star Wars" novel.
Rating: Summary: The Force is strong in this one Review: Compact, tightly woven story of how Han and Leia come to terms with their relationship. Han Solo is at heart a rouge and a "scoundrel", but also a man with a great devotion to duty and respnsibility (as well as Leia). His actions in this novel do not betray these personality traits as others have commented. Luke becomes more powerful on Dathomir than even he expeted he could. This was one I finished in 2 days.
Rating: Summary: A great Star Wars novel. Review: I loved this book. Dave Wolverton really hit it right this time. I haven't been able to put this book down. This book was probably the best(Star Wars)book I have ever read. Not only was it exciting and packed with adventure, but there were no typo's. It held great information about the Star Wars universe. I could really picture this books storyline in my head. From the beggin-ing of this book to the end, I could find nothing wrong with it. I have read about 8 Star Wars novels and this was the best 1 yet.
Rating: Summary: Not a bad book at all... Review: This book by Dave Wolverton was captivating. Not the best book I've read, but a very good book nonetheless. Something about this book made me read it over and over again. Seventeen times I've pick up this wonderful Star Wars novel. I'll agree, it has it's weak points...but doesn't every book? This book was enjoyable and fun to read. I strongly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Oh my GOSH!!! So good!!! Review: This is one of the best Star Wars books I've ever read!!! I suggest you read it, and soon!!!!
Rating: Summary: Finally, Leia is making wedding plans, only problem is... Review: This is the book where Han and Leia finally make plannes to marry. Unfortunately, Leia is not considering Han. A Hapan prince offers his hand to Leia and along with it the rule of sixty-three planets and enough resources to get the New Republic up and running smoothly. Han doesn't like this and, well, sort of, um, kidnapps Leia. Luke and the Prince Isolder pursue them and any more would spoil the book. Altogether, a hilarious and yet serious look at the Force and the dangers of using it, as well as fulfilling the relationship we all knew had to be from the start.
Rating: Summary: DISAPPOINTING!!!!! Review: This book had its strong points, but there was so much left untouched that I felt a sense of loss after reading it. First I felt that Han was completly out of character. After reading A.C. Crispin's trilogy, The Truce At Bakura, and watching the movies, I think that Han wouldn't have put up with Leia considering to marry another man. The han of old would have packed up and hauled a** out of there (that or just kill Isolder outright). The only time he seemed his normal self was when he marched off to face the witches by himself to save his friends. Second, the whole concept of a jedi academy starship was a very good idea, but Wolverton never followed up on it. I thought that Luke wouldn't have just settled for some records when he could of had an entire ship's worth of secrets to exploit. I would also like to have seen a demonstration of the power of a Hapes Battle Dragon. The only reason I gave this book a four is because it tells us when Luke finally got a real understanding of the force and how it ties in with the nature around it. I would recommend this book to only the diehard Star Wars fans like myself.
Rating: Summary: Star Bores Review: Dave Wolverton is an okay author. I read some of his other stuff (this includes other SW short stories he did for the Tales Of series,) and liked them. But it is so obvious that he is in over his head in this one. Take the plot: When Leia goes to marry another man, Han kidnaps her and drags her off to a planet he had won in a card game (!?!,) which turns out to be inhabitted by a race of force-sensitive witches(!?!) who keep Rancors as pets (!?!) and battle more another tribe of witches. Now, is it just me, or is this a little silly? This ultra-politically correct book tries not to insult any minorities, but manages to offend it's majority: the Star Wars fan. Admittly, Wolverton had a hard job, making a novel out of the premise of how Han and Leia wed in the Thrawn trilogy, but Steve Perry had an even harder job with Shadows Of The Empire and he managed to pull it off. Say, I wonder what it would have been like if he had written this...
Rating: Summary: A fun-filled, though sometimes ubelievable, adventure Review: Dave Wolverton could have spent more time on the romance between Han and Leia in the beginning of the book; after all that's what makes Han kidnap Leia in the first place knowing that it will interrupt diplomatic relations vital to the survival of the New Republic. However it's a good way to start a show filled with Rancors, Force witches, and an awesome scene where Luke pilots the Millenium Falcon and fires its laser canons with pin-point accuracy. "The Courtship of Princess Leia" is full of the action that characterizes Star Wars.
Rating: Summary: Breath-taking story lots of action !! Review: This is a superb book.Luke has to battle witches that control the dark side of the force. They all women but extremely powerful, yet exciting. There's even a part where Luke get... by the witches. I really loved this book I just lent it out to my friend that's how good it is. He's also enjoying.this is the perfect book if your looking to start the star wars novels. This is also exciting because Han takes Leia away from her duties to prevent her from marrying the princ of Hapes. He then takes her to Dathomir a planet he won in a card game. From that point the action starts to heat up.But don't take it from me read ot yourself.
