Rating: Summary: Courtship of Princess Leia is an excellent book. Review: This is one of the best star wars books ever! I like this book because it changes the whole Star Wars universe. How? I will not say. If you are just starting star wars books then this is it. good plot, action packed, and fast paced. The author did a great job with this book. What was his name again? oh well, He did a great job and thats what matters, right? This book deserves a five star rating, and thats what I gave it. Have a good time with this book, I sure did!
Rating: Summary: Good, meaty SW fiction Review: This was a pleasure to read, especially after reading Anderson & Hambly pap. Wolverton opens up the galaxy even bigger than it was before with the various other empires & planetary systems. And, unlike so many of the newer SW writers, he treats the Force as something with a bit of oooomph behind it. If you loved Zahn, you'll really like Wolverton. If you liked Children of the Jedi, you'll find this story to be a bit.....complex for your taste.
Rating: Summary: Good and entertaining. Review: "The courtship of princess Leia" is a quite good book with some interesting persons and ideas. The Hapan consortium was a positive surprise, with their great power and prince Isolder is a good new addition to the already wide gallery of characters in the Star Wars universe. I found Han Solo's desperation to be genuine, regarding Leia's soon-to-be engagement to Isolder and the sabacc-game was actually quite exciting. However, I did not like the idea of the witches which seemed a bit too medieval to my taste. On the other hand the wicth-idea works, and Gethzerion is an OK villain. Personally I prefer Zsinj who, despite his relative absence in the book, represents the empire with an "Iron Fist". "The courtship of princess Leia" is a good book which is recommendable, and I liked reading it.
Rating: Summary: Not quite up to par with other Star Wars books. Review: Although this book had a half-decent storyline, I felt that many aspects of the book weren't "Star Wars"y. For example, part of the greatness of Star Wars lies in the fact that groups of people (for example, Jedi) can be made up and yet seem so real to us. But in this book, there was one group of people called the Witches of Dathomir. To me, witches just don't fit in Star Wars. Second, this book was based on the premise that Han and Leia had been in love before, but were in danger of splitting apart. The third Star Wars movie showed a very definite love between Han and Leia, one which this book holds in very low regard. These and other aspects of the book made the story seem less relevant to the Star Wars universe.
Rating: Summary: Among the best of the Star Wars books Review: Short of the Zahn books which were incredible and the Stackpole books I haven't read (but heard were also very good), I have to dub Wolverton one of the best authors in the Star Wars universe. The characters were portrayed acurately and embodied real personality (conjuring images of Harrison Ford and Mark Hammil in the text itself). The story was well-formed, and each of the plot elements were explained and summed up by the end. Several interesting ideas were presented, most notably the planet of Rancors and Prince Isolder, and the tension created was reminiscent of Lucas' orignal concepts. Overall, this is one of the best novels in the Star Wars timeline.
Rating: Summary: I PLAIN LOVE THIS BOOK! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read (and there's alot of them). I highly reccomend this book if you are a Star Wars fan like me.
Rating: Summary: THE FORCE IS WITH IT Review: Excellent book. I would have to say it is the best of all the Star Wars books out today. It describes all the characters in a very human way, you can really feel what they are feeling the way it is described. Very well done, I recommend it to any Jedi lover. You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK RULES Review: I have been reading Star Wars books for two years. I have Star Wars oozing out of my ears. From an expert point of view, I say this is the best book ever written. Period. People talk trash about this book because they can't truly express how much they LOVE it. People might not like because they think this is a mushy love story. WRONG. Not only is it cool, but it gives you a whole diffrent look at Star Wars books.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK WITH A GREAT PLOT! Review: I can't say enough good things about this novel, in my opinion this is one of the best Star Wars novels produced to date. It was refreshing to say the least to meet new heroes and villians, and also experince our old favorites in a new light. Also the fact that we see very little of the Empire made for new and interesting reading. I was half expecting a sappy romance when I first picked up this book, but was suprised to find out that it had just the right mix of action and a little bit romance. I've raved about this book so much that even my mother has started to read it.
Rating: Summary: Is this a STAR WARS book or a fairy tale? Review: Despite all the advise I have been given about not judging a book by its cover, when I saw this piece of junk in the bookstore, it looked like all the good books such as Darksaber and The Crystal Star, so I bought it. After I had read the first five pages, this slimy piece of worm-ridden filth revealed itself for what it was. Prince Charming comes along and expects Leia to marry him for his power and wealth. The real Han Solo, not the selfish, casino-happy bum who impersinates him in this blasphemy, would have yelled at Leia a bit, but he wouldn't go as far as kiddnapping her and taking her to a planet he won in a card game. And on top of all that, this dumb thing is virtually Imperial-less! No STAR WARS book, no matter how well written, can be any good without plenty of scenes with decent Imperials! The only thing that keeps this from being a 1 is the witches of Dathomir, who are not only interesting, but courageos without being Miss Heroines, and best of all, whack Luke on the head.
