Rating: Summary: Made me want to be a jedi Review: Took me to new worlds that we had never been to before. Gave us new experiences with more incredible people, while showing us that the Dark Side will always exist.
Rating: Summary: Okay Book Review: This was a good book like all Star Wars books. But have you noticed they are all a litte redunent? I mean in all the books there are what 4 death stars? And this one was a little better, but I think that the writers could be a little more creative.
Rating: Summary: A worthy addition to the universe, but not as good as Zahn's Review: "Courtship" has everything: a romantic love triangle, comic dialogue at times, plenty of action, and a high coolness factor. I was satisfied with these additions to the Star Wars universe because they felt distinctly Star Wars -- including the planets of Hapes and Dathomir. Han's a little soft, which gets annoying, but overall the characters are kept in touch with their correct personalities. The story goes like this: With the shattered remnants of the Empire scattered throughout the galaxy, the New Republic is struggling to build a solid government, and eventually seeks help from the highly political planet of Hapes. They agree under one condition: Leia will marry the dashing Prince Isolder. Of course, Han has other plans, so he kidnaps Leia and runs off with her to the remote planet of Dathomir, but they are soon abducted by a group of Force witches that inhabit the planet. So it's Luke and Isolder to the rescue, of course. As usual, Luke is on a Jedi-related quest of his own, this one revolving around a crashed Jedi schooling ship in the swamps of Dathomir. Overall, a worthy use of your time and a very entertaining book.
Rating: Summary: Good book! What else to say! Review: I've just finished reading this book. I must say it's fantastic. It has a few new characters, which are very good developed. These are Prince Isolder, who looks very much alike Han solo. Both were pirates, they both have their favorite ship and in the beginning they both want the same girl (princess Leia). Next character is Tenneniel, a girl from Dathomir, where this story takes place almost all time. This planet Dathomir is home of witches, who are all strong in Force and they cast their spells with singing. As always these witches divide themselves to ones who are evil (Nightsisters) and ones who are good (all other clans). And guess who wins at the end ... Nightsisters certainly - NOT. Good side certainly wins, with a little help from all well known characters: Han Solo, Leia, Luke, Chewbacca, c-3po and r2d2. Prince Isolder takes his piece of the action too.I don't have many complaints to the book, but still there are some. For example: why must women be highly positioned on almost every planet which is mentioned in this book. The second thing I didn't really like too much was Millennium Falcons victory over Star Destroyer. Come on, where did you see a single freighter destroy such a big ship as Star Destroyer. And the last of all Zsinj's stupidity. He probably isn't that clever as grand admiral Thrawn in Star Wars trilogy from Timothy Zahn. He is defeated to easily. But this ain't nothing against the all good stuff in this book. It sure is worth reading. And not just worth reading it once, it's worth reading it several times. I certainly recommend it to you.
Rating: Summary: Great Star War Book Review: With all the hype from the new star wars film I decided to check out some of the star wars books out there. This was one of three I have read so far and is the best book I have read. I absolutly LOVED this book. The humor and relationship between Leia and han in this book hits the mark perfectly. I was laughing out loud at some of the stuff C3PO did in this book. Don't get me wrong there is also plenty of action and it is the great read from cover to cover. To Anyone wanting to get back into the star wars universe again, I strongly suggest you read this book. you won't be dissapointed
Rating: Summary: An amazing addition to the expanding Star Wars Universe Review: Explosions, firefights, and mass hysteria are all typical of this addition to the Star Wars universe. The story follows Princess Leia in her daily job as an important member of the New Republic Senate. In the midst of all that's going on in the New Republic, the empire still lives on in isolated spots throughout the universe. It seems that unless the alliance finds itself some powerful allies, they will meet with almost certain collapse. That's where the Hapes consortium comes in. The queen mother offers to join the New Republic, on one condition. Leia must marry her son, Prince Isolder. Han Solo has other plans for the beautiful Princess Leia. In this conversation between Han and Isolder it is easy to ascertain the level of anger that is building between the two suitors. "That's all right," Isolder said. " She is a lovely woman. I can understand why you would be attracted to her. I hope my appearance here hasn't been too.... unsettling." "Annoying is the word," Han answered. " I mean, it's not as if I wished you were dead or anything. Neutered perhaps-- not dead." However, Han Solo decides to take matters into his own hands. Before Leia can argue he kidnaps her and takes her to the isolated world of Dathomir where he plans to win her heart. However trouble awaits them as they crash land on the planets surface and are confronted by Force adepts known as the "witches" of Dathomir. However help is not far behind. Luke and Artoo join with the Isolder in undertaking the rescue operation. Little do they realize what they are up against. When their ship is also brought down forcibly by the witches, they find themselves stranded as well. Who will rescue the rescuers?
Rating: Summary: The word sad comes to mind!!!! Review: I have never read a Star Wars book that is as bad as this one. The author fails to capture the true personalities of the characters as we know them. I mean, when have you ever heard Han call C-3PO a "friend"?? And also the book states that Luke carries a blue lightsaber, which he hasn't carried since Empire. Remember he built a green one after he lost his first one. Ok, so it's a little picky. But to me this says that Wolverton has seen the movies maybe once and doesn't pay attention to details. If you are looking for a good story, go for the books by Zahn.
Rating: Summary: Truly, truly disappointed Review: I've just had a good laugh reading all the three-stars-and-below ratings for this book. I can't be as blunt as most of them are, but I won't be redundant, either. Why must Leia and Han be portrayed as junior-high-schoolers? A true disappointment.
Rating: Summary: One of the best... Review: I think Dave Wolverton really captured the spirit of the Star Wars characters and worlds. I especially liked the rancors knocking over AT-STs and the giant force storm at the end.
Rating: Summary: It was so funny, I laughed till it hurt Review: It is just about the best book I every read. It had everything action, comedy, and romance.
