Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Simply the best! Review: Better than all the rest!A reviewer way back compared this book to Robin Hobb, In Legend Born and Pool of Two Moons, claiming they all held their own with it. I disagree strongly. I like Robin Hobb, and love the Farseer trilogy, but I think Rhapsody has the edge over it. As for the other two, if you are one of the four people who actually stayed awake through In Legend Born you might disagree, but this book is infinitely better than either of the other two. The characters in Rhapsody are the best I've ever seen in fantasy literature. The do not have big signs over their heads screaming "hero!" and "villian!" It's a fantasy book that makes you think. What a novel concept.

Anyone who enjoys sci-fi and fantasy should run to the book store to get it. I can't wait for the next books to come out. Trust me, you will be in pain to end the book. It's that good...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Brilliant Book Review: I collect books with Royo covers. Sometimes I read them. I am happy to have chosen this one. This book was great. It had artfulness and scholarship to spare. No matter whether you are a fan of fantasy or not, you'll like this. Both men and women will like the characters and events in this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The arrival of a new fantasy master Review: With this book Elizabeth Haydon has carved herself in niche in the hall of fame for fantasy writers. She has a style that embodies the best of Tolkein at his most lyrical with a fresh, modern twist. Her writing appeals equally to men and women and transcends the isolation of genre fiction. Watch this one carefully! I predict great things for her.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutely wonderful, a treasure just to hold in my hands Review: I am a long time science fiction reader who is always trolling for new and interesting authors. Elizabeth Haydon with Rhapsody has contributed one of the most delightful works since I had the pleasure of discovering Ursula Le Guin's Left Hand of Darkness over twenty two years ago. The hardcover book is just a pleasure to hold and look at, proving that there still is tremendous artistry and value simply in the printing and publishing of a hardcover work. Haydon's text is very fluid and easy to read, daring me to read just one more page before I set the book down, and forget any commitments I might have. This book dares me to attempt to read it in one sitting, though its length and depth really demand more patience to fully appreciate and enjoy it. Not only do I look forward to every free moment so I can finish the remaining pages, but I look forward to all future works by this author, as I have for Le Guin, Pohl, and Delany.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This has got to be one of the greatest books I have read! Review: Wow! That's all I can say. This book was simply amazing! I would suggest this novel for anyone whether you normally like fantasy or not. The characters, the writing style, the world she creates were so real to me. I especially loved the strong female lead, Rhapsody. I can not wait for the sequel to this book. Wow!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Review: What a great book! What a fabulous new author! Like most every other reviewer out there [well, at least the literate ones] I loved Achmed, Grunthor and Rhapsody; hell, I even loved Jo, and she made me want to smack her sometimes. I think the real brilliance lies in Haydon's ability to realize the secondary characters. What's up with Llauron? Is he a good guy, or a bad guy? I thought the Lord Roland was fascinating, and his interaction with Prudence was the most poignant, touching, annoying sex scene I've ever read. Utterly brilliant! Even the various Bolg were individuals, and made me care about them. I have a very clear image of Michael, the Waste of Breath, and I think I must hate him almost as much as Rhapsody does. And there's Ashe, my all-time favourite. Reading this book was like opening a treasure chest of jewels. Where does she come up with this stuff? How does an author spin such a spellbinding story, and still manage to give us tiny glimpses into characters that may only appear for a moment, but still leave a clear picture in the mind? What an amazing talent has been released into the realm of fantasy literature. Thank you, Tor.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutamente awesome Review: I wish I could write well enough to do this book justice in my review, but I can't I. need to buy another because the pages have tearstains and are gripped to the point of wrinkling. What an awesome book! Don't buy it unless you are willing to have your heart stolen!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A world in which you'll gladly be lost Review: Don't listen to anyone who sounds like a bitter ex-husband. This book is first rate. The writing is strong, descriptive, and convincing. You'll find the dialogue among the strongest you've read. The characters are fresh, funny, fabulous. Not just the main characters either. Even the cameo appearances are award worthy. The story and world are rich, rich rich. What history, both explained and implied. What scope, this is a landscape that has had some research applied. And the plot! Surprise and subtlety (which may be new for some readers) are what this is about. Who's the bad guy? You'll have to unravel it with the characters.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Can't Wait Review: I can't wait for the next books by Elizabeth Haydon. This one was the best. I have read some books with characters that are just rewrites of some "I used to be pretending to be peasant and now I'm king like I was always meant to be." stories. Even though they're nobody you would be likely to meet on the street today, the characters are so real. The girl is dense about her effect on men. We all know the ugly guy nobody likes but who everybody goes to because he always has a plan. I love Grunthor! You have to stay with these people, because they will stay with you Finally, the place they live is so deep, so complex and, again, real. I don't just want the story she wrote, I want every character's story. Why is Llauron such a **ick? Has Ashe always had a multiple personality disorder? Wow.
